*** San Francisco 49ers *** Official thread (4 Viewers)

Reminds me of KC last year.

Lombardi:

Early going of this game feels much like KC-SF in Week 8 of last season. The 49ers offense will move the ball and score points but won't stand a chance against if its defense doesn't pull at least some weight.
We’ll see if Purdy is more capable of keeping up in a shoot out than Jimmy was.
The answer is no, apparently.
It ain't over yet, it's a one score game.

That said, I'm not confident they can pull out a win.

Was over.

This team is no longer going to be appointment viewing for the rest of the season. Never want to peak in early October.

Ready for some NBA tonight.

I mean the defense just isn't good...they have to held accountable

But for me the questions are starting to swirl around Purdy. I don't know if he can get them there

Last year might have been a Cinderella run. Too bad it ended like it did. This doesn’t seem like an offense that will consistently be good enough going forward.

He can if he has all his weapons and OL, IMO. No Deebo has been huge, there's not decent WR2 when him or Aiyuk are out.

I think they get back on track when Deebo is back, but Purdy needs to not turn the ball over.

I agree.

They are too gimmicky and they can't play normal football all that well.

Don't disagree but in todays nfl you can't count on having everyone healthy

Sorry, they still have an above average complement of weapons. If you need 4 pro bowl receiving threats to be decent, the offense isnt good.

I've been worried about those passes in the middle where Purdy drops it over the LB, they go to it way too often and have had a LOT of close calls. It was only a matter of time there would be some INTs.

Is their Super Bowl window slamming shut?

It'd be a shame if this group of players (Kittle, Williams, CMC, etc) don't get a ring, much like the Jim Harbaugh team that had several great players (Willis, Bowman, Justin Smith, etc) and came up short.

It's disgustingly frustrating. I just want that 6th championship. I wont even be greedy - give me 1 SB win and I won't even ask for another for 10 years.

Team has some serious soul searching to do. Wilks really is awful, just one of an endless series of front office blunders. Pretty tough to feel good about this team dropping 3 in a row heading into a bye. Bosa basically looks like a JAG, don’t really care how good PFF says he is.

Still not panicked, but if they don’t come out of the bye looking ready to kill, then I’m panicking.

When Purdy is the games leading rusher on a team with CMC, Mitchell and Mason, something is seriously wrong.

I still think Kyle should get an OC, Wilks needs to go, and they need to really beef up the O Line. We have CMC and can't run the ball!! What the F!!!

Debo out really hurts them, but I don't think CMC is at 100%. With Debo out he be getting a ton more touches, but isn't.

The D is an issue tho.

This team seriously goto to get the #1 seed Imo, cause they can't go to Philadelphia in January again. Not sure that is possible now.

I mean....it's not like they lost to the worst team in Football. The Bengals are really good and getting better each week.

Al Sacco:

It’s not that crazy that a 23-yr old QB is having ups & downs. This is kind of what the 49ers signed up for, but I’m sure they didn’t see the struggles in the run game and defense coming (No Deebo & Trent also playing a part)

Right now it’s just a perfect storm of bad for SF.

49er RBs have 18, 16, and 15 carries the past 3 weeks.

Purdy can't excel when playing one dimensional football because there's no threat of the run. They don't want him throwing 30+ times a game, but that's what's happening the last 3 weeks.

There's just no balance right now.

I think the statement above is the one that sums it up the best

Facts:

The 49ers are built to play a certain style of football: run the ball, efficient quarterback play, lockdown defense

The last 3 weeks they haven’t been able to play to that formula and it’s been all out of whack.

Can’t run the ball, defense not good enough and too much Purdy.

That last part is so true. They don't want him throwing 30+ times a game. They need balance and they don't have it right now. Too much Purdy isn't their recipe for success.

hate to say I told you so, but...I was the anti niner guy in preseason. they looked terrible in the summer games, and I don't think that's improved. They've played no one worth a damn. Bungles? Vikings? seriously?
you're all missing the point, it's not necessarily the players and lack of quality depth , but it's the coaching staff. its the front office. You have mushbrain j. lynch as a GM, and daddy's kid as the HC and he has proven time and again that he is incompetent, incapable of putting together a winning game plan, and a winning team. Anyone can get on a late season roll and by happenstance wind up in the championship game, like the niners have stumbled on under shanahan. his play calling in Jimmy G's SB was deplorable. his play calling this season is dreadful. when are we going to finally start calling for his head as HC of the niners? and for that matter, brainless john lynch?
you're all barking up the wrong tree, the players are half good on offense and defense, but the coaches are inept. they should all be kicked to the curb

Bengals were a top 4 team the past 2 years... Vikings without Jefferson, no excuse there, but Burrow and Chase are no chumps.

I fell asleep watching the 1st Half. Watching the 2nd half now. Relax 9er fans- you’re gonna be ok.

Purdy isn’t ready to be annointed, yet. But he’s not a scrub. He still had some decent throws against a Bengals D that is a lot better than what they’ve shown so far this year. Put him under pressure and stop the run, any QB will struggle. Young kid’s gonna throw some bad balls in his 1st full season. A couple uncharacteristic drops today, too.

The Defense has looked fallible- I don’t know enough about the team to know what Wilks is directly responsible for. On paper- look great. DLine underperforming the past 3 weeks and the secondary isn’t impressive. Injuries have been killing you.

It’s only week 8. Don’t overreact to a couple losses. Limp into the bye, do some self scouting and get healthy. Nobody wins the Lombardi in October

I'm not going to be as extreme as you but i do think there is a case to made. The drafting has been obviously atrocious with Lance being the key cog there. The other part though, and i have always thought this, is that KS thinks he is smarter than everyone else and just ends up outsmarting himself. It seems like it's the same formula over and over and over again and I know it's been mentioned in here before but the adjustments are few and far between.
