*** San Francisco 49ers *** Official thread (25 Viewers)

QB Mac Jones just cashed a sweet $400K bonus after the win over the Falcons — and he’ll earn $100K for every victory moving forward.

Should have negotiated for more, a win in the NFL is worth more to a franchise than 100K, that's for sure

He should be getting 250K at least

Prior to this season, Purdy had only missed 2 games to injury...I doubt he was trying to negotiate that incentive too hard.

Matt Maiocco was asked if Matt Hennessy will remain the starting center once Jake Brendel is healthy:

“Matt stepped in and did a very good job after Jake Brendel sustained a hamstring injury. So Hennessy deserves a lot of credit for being mentally and physically prepared to handle the assignment. The 49ers’ run game got off to a very strong start while Brendel was on the field, and he was having a good game. San Francisco gained 86 yards on 12 rushing attempts while Brendel was in the game for a 7.2-yard average. Before the final two kneel-downs at the end of the game for minus-2 yards, the 49ers gained 90 yards on 25 rushing attempts after Brendel’s injury. The 49ers gained half the yards (3.6) on the ground per rushing attempt after Brendel’s injury. Again, Hennessy did his job, but Brendel has been the 49ers’ starter the past four seasons for a reason"

Seems to me as the game went on, the Falcons started stacking the box more trying to stop the run game from gashing them, which might explain the drop in YPC. Hennessey passed the eye test, IMO.

Matt Maiocco on the possibility of Robert Saleh remaining the 49ers DC after this season:

“The only way Saleh does not land one of those coveted HC positions in 2026 is if owners and general managers focus on offensive-minded candidates. We doubt any amount of money could keep Saleh as a defensive coordinator. He wants to be a head coach and wash away the taste of getting fired after leading the dysfunctional New York Jets for more than three seasons.
Shanahan knew when he hired Saleh that he might have him for only one year. That’s why the tentative succession plan at defensive coordinator involves Gus Bradley, who holds the title of 49ers assistant head coach of defense.”

The buzz: Hendrickson would be far and away the most attractive trade target if Cincinnati entertains a deal. However, a team source told ESPN, as reported Oct. 14, that the Bengals have no plans to trade the former All-Pro. The interest will be there regardless, and San Francisco in particular considers Hendrickson an ideal fit. The Bengals' record is 3-4 and the team is in the thick of the AFC North race, all the more reason to keep its best defensive player. -- Fowler

Lots of trade chatter/ speculation involving the Niners. ESPN is linking them to Hendrickson, Olave, and other interesting pieces.

I'm way more skeptical than Maiocco about this. Although the worse Glenn does the better Saleh looks by comparison.

You think Saleh stays another year after this one?

I just don't think there's a huge demand for defensive-minded HCs and if there is, there will probably be guys without the recent track record of failure weighing them down.

Mac should start next week regardless of how Brock feels. Dont throw him back in vs the Rams after a month off, let him come back vs the Cardinals and then vs the Panthers on MNF.

The following #49ers players are QUESTIONABLE for Sunday against The Rams:

DL Alfred Collins (hip)
LB Dee Winters (knee)
DL Kalia Davis (ankle)
DL Keion White (groin)
OL Ben Bartch (ankle)
LB Tatum Bethune (thigh)
QB Brock Purdy (toe)

Hey I'll take this!

No new injuries for the 49ers to report today after their game Vs Rams, per HC Kyle Shanahan.

This without QB1, WR1 and WR2, not too shabby. Too bad our defense is too big of an issue with all the injuries.

Akash A:

Leaders in Offensive Success Rate, 2025:

1. Rams, 52.6%
2. Colts, 51%
3. Packers, 49.9%
4. Chiefs, 49.7%
5. 49ers, 49.1%

Shanahan's offense still moving the ball at will. They need to be better in the red zone, limit turnovers and find more explosives in the run/pass game.

Ingredients are there for the 49ers' veteran offense to lead the way and bring along a young, injury-ridden defense.

At least good enough to get them into the playoffs and give them a chance.

Lenoir did not pracrice today after popping up on injury report Thursday with a calf injury.

Purdy and Pearsall a full go

If the regular season ended right now, the 49ers would be in the NFC playoffs as the #7 seed — kicking the Lions out of the picture.

SF has an 85% playoff probability, higher than the Bears and Packers who both currently hold higher seeds than them.

The defense sort of held up by getting some opportunistic turnovers, but wow, that is a terrible unit right now.
Can't put any/much pressure on the QB. Unfortunately, tough for the secondary to cover for as long as they have to.

The team is what they are at this point. They will need to put up 35 consistently to win games, which I think they can do against most of the teams left on the schedule. Probably end up 11-6 and make the playoffs. Probably will get bounced in first round, but still a nice accomplishment, all things considered and as a fan, been an entertaining season.

Its just comical at this point.

Tatum Bethune suffered a high-ankle sprain and will miss "a few" weeks, Kyle Shanahan said. He said Bethune probably wouldn't have to go on IR.

Eddy Pineiro suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain and is week to week. They'll have a kicker workout Tuesday or Wednesday.

Bethune wouldn't have been on the field had Renardo Green not got the 15 yard penalty that extended that Arizona drive.

Akash A:

#49ers' DVOA (thru Week 11):

Total: #12
Offense: #6
Defense: #24
Special Teams: #19

Their offense is slowly creeping into Top-5 territory and their Special Teams number is being weighted down cause of Week 1.

Recipe for playoffs is right here, as we've been saying the last few weeks.

Speaking of special teams:

Where are #NFL offenses beginning their drives after opponent kickoffs?

SF leads the league with the best average starting field position. They’re also the only team that hasn’t started a single drive inside their own 20-yard line all season.

I like the running joke that McCaffrey is absorbing the energy of the players around him causing their injury but keeping him upright.

the big question for me is whether the 49ers keep Mac in the offseason or deal him for a mountain of picks/players.

I’d think he’s shown enough that a QB-needy team would be willing to send a nice package for him. Especially since he’s extremely affordable for 2026.

Or will the 49ers be gun shy about dealing him since he saved their season this year? If I’m the 49ers I’m sending him packing.

I've read a 2nd rounder might do. Maybe Minnesota.

I’m not sure I’d give him up for a 2nd. He’s worth more than that as insurance. Seems like CLE, NOS, NYJ, maybe a couple others would be competing for him. I don’t see MIN giving up on JJM that fast.

Mike Florio says a lot of things. He has about a 5% hit rate from what I’ve seen.

But sure, they’re probably on the list if Mac wants to be a backup QB. That seems to be Florio’s contention here.

The other teams would likely bring him in as a starter.

Jets seems a logical landing spot. Probably too logical for that franchise. Just turned 27 and they could use their newly acquired 1sts to rebuild the defense.

No idea what SF would accept for him, but a high 2nd seems pretty decent

Mac would prob beat McCarthy for the starting job IMO.

I don't really care where he ends up, but I bet SF would do him a solid and not deal him to a dumpster fire organization (unless he was open to it). Nobody wants to go to the Jets with their ownership and track record lol.

He might. I’m just not sure MIN would want to create that environment for JJM if they think he has a future.
