Santana Moss- 3 TDs! (1 Viewer)

wow, I guess they didnt play those clips on Sportscenter this week, not sure why.... Thanks for sharing them

Sure there is a punch right in the jaw you can even see his head rock back and down. Great play! Hammered him good and knocked him to his knees!

There's no punch. His right arm hits Grant in the middle of his chest as he is spinning around him.

:lmao: Santana Moss, master of the Invisible Punch. If you watch carefully there's also an Invisible Suplex, and Invisible Arm Bar, and Moss hits Grant over the head with an Invisible Trash Can while flying off the Invisible Top Rope.

Ohhh gee you guys are right. I have nothing better than to sit up here and split hairs over a great play. Yeah there was no punch. You guys are so freaking great and awesome and that is why I hardly come here to post. So great and so awesome and yes Redman I just want to come up here and waste my ####### time running fishing trips. Yet another example of how an ordinary topic in the middle of the week gets turned into garbage by the little critics of football guys. Well I saw the replay on a large TV and he jacked the guy. I guess he spinned so hard that he fell down being dizzy. I guess that is why Grant plays safety on an NFL team. To be spun right to the ground. Maybe I should have my super high definition super slow motion tevo so I can prove how wrong someone is. Little pimps just wanting to be right. That is all this board is turning out to be....

:lmao: People see ghosts, aliens, Elvis, the Virgin Mary in grilled cheese sandwiches, and clouds that look like Larry King. You saw a punch. Good for you.

What- are you auditioning for stand up comedy here? Go open a thread in the free for all and practice yer shtick.

Watching even closer, I do see the punch now.

The problem is the video you posted is very poor quality, so it is hard to see.

I was wrong.

I don't know, the more I watch it, it seems like his hand hits him in the upper chest and Moss's arm hits Grant and makes his head bounce.

Like I said, the clip is very poor quality and it is very hard to tell exactly what is happening.

Either way, great catch and run after the catch. If i didn't win this week, I would still be sick at not starting him. :bag:

I don't see a punch. That overtime TD though was vintage Moss and with him struggling that was oh so sweet to see.

Yeah when I saw it at first I was like- he just jacked him in the jaw or close to it. Then they showed the replay and he clips him. Hard to se on that video but he nailed him. I was playing a guy that had him in one league and he tore it up. Rolled a huge number on me!

I have another video I can go check out when I get home. I don't know if it's any better than this one but I'll check it out.

First of all, lighten up. Second, I've seen replays on TV and the internet of this play probably two dozen times and your assertion is the first indication I've had of this "punch". It's far from obvious. Like I said above, I'll take another look at this via a video I downloaded when I get home. If I agree with your assessment, I'll tell you as much.

Gee- I will just wait right here for you to tell me all about it. Lighten up? Solid advice from a guy obsessed w a penile implant....

Here is another video of just that catch alone, shown several times.

Link

The clearest view is in the 3rd view of it, at around 2:07 to 2:10 of the video. Moss was cutting right, the defender was trying to stop and reverse direction, and Moss's arm clearly goes over top his head.

ummmmmmmm............ that's the wrong clip, that clip is of the gamewinner, the one that is in dispute is his first TD catch.

Yeah, you're right. Sorry about that.

This frame is the best view I can get out of the original video. When in motion it looks like a spin move. Stopped on this frame it looks like a shove in the chest.

I think you guys are mistaking a WR pushing off
I agree, I think the contact is a byproduct of the spin move. Still a great catch-n-run for a TD.

Clearly he moves UP...and to the right! As you can clearly see in this video, it's UP.....and to the right.
I was looking at the feet. I've watched my replay, and honestly the best you can say about it is that it's inconclusive on this. There's definitely some contact, but it looks like Grant grabbing for jersey to make a tackle and Moss essentially throwing his arm out to help the spin move and to separate from Grant. The main reason why that defender went down is because Moss stopped on a dime and spun while Grant had as it turned out approached too fast and overran the play.

This has all the earmark of Keith Hernandez spitting incident. Good job looking at his feet. Paul MacGuire taught you well young padawin.

...Grant had as it turned out approached too fast and overran the play.
Almost exactly like he did on the game winner.I won't judge Grant for being outplayed in a one-on-one, open field tackle situation (hey, at least he made contact), but the misplaying of that last pass was just atrocious.

I have no reason do defend Grant, but I think this has more to do with Moss's amazing body control and athleticism and overall football talent than it does any particular shortcoming on Grant's part. Moss has an unbelievable ability to change direction, sometimes only slightly, when the ball is in the air or in the open field. He's simply amazing. Gibbs refers all the time to his "long ball reaction skills", the first I've heard of that term but it makes sense based upon what I see of him. For example, on the first of the two Dallas TD's last year in that crazy finish to the MNF game, Moss was lined up outside of the right numbers when he first looked back to see Brunell's pass, and when he caught the ball he had not only completed running the rest of the way downfield into the end zone, he'd also broken almost to the dead center of the field, about even with the right goal post in order catch that ball. His burst going laterally was so great that Roy Williams, who had a bead on him and for all the world should have laid him out in the end zone right when the ball arrived, completely missed him because Moss was moving so fast right to left on the field. You can see what I'm talking about here; wait for the end zone angle to see his full route.

The first TD had more to do with Moss having good field vision, benefitting from some nice blocks, and being fast and athletic enough to turn that play into a 1:1 with Grant to decide whether it would score a TD. Amazing to be sure, but that 2nd TD was simply unreal.

Moss said after the game that he was aware that Grant was coming over to lay him out, and so all he could think to do was attack the ball. The effect of that was that Moss, instead of continuing straight downfield to the spot where Grant was going to intercept him, changed direction just slightly towards the center of the field to attack the pass (which was thrown to his inside shoulder) and in so doing avoided Grant's knockout hit. Grant had a perfect bead on him and probably would have laid out 95% of the WR's in the league on that play, but Moss made an amazing adjustment mid-stride and turned a big hit and incomplete pass into a long TD.

David Patten was saying after the game that the 'Skins WR's couldn't believe the move he made to catch that ball. Brunell was saying that it's probably not a pass that he "should" have thrown but that's a measure of his trust in Moss. Gibbs was laughing because of his unique perspective on stuff like this with the headsets on, and he was hearing the coachs say into the headsets, "Don't throw it there! . . . Ok, throw it there!"
