Actually I was referring to the Super Bowl. As for the Bengals game, yes I do think things turn out differently if he doesn't get injured. We'll never know but it's certainly possible. The entire phycological makeup of the team was affected by that injury. And no way can anyone say they should've won without him. Palmer is a difference maker. That's why he was the starter and Kitna was the back up. Palmer is way better.Don't take the stinky bait. Carson Palmer's lifetime record against the Steelers going into the playoff game was 1-3 and the one game he won he was the fortunate recipient of 4 turnovers and a 94 yard kickoff return to the 3 yard line.Maybe the Bengals would have won had Palmer not gotten injured but it certainly wasn't a sure thing based on past performances. The truth is we'll never know who would have won.how exactly was it handed to them??
My position is that the Bengals defense was at fault in the playoff loss for twice giving up double-digit leads but most Bengals fans ignore that fact and say the Steelers won due to a cheap shot. Whatever...
Most NFL Scouts (if not all), including NFL.com's "Prospect Profiles" missed his "character concerns", so this comes as a surprise to all but a few. Holmes is now just "two arrests behind Chris Henry for the AFC North lead among receivers." We're speaking of just 2006 here...so to speak.Sorry no link. I just heard this on TV, WCMH TV4 in Columbus, Ohio. Santonio Holmes was arrested last night in Hilliard, a Columbus suburb, charged with domestic violence. No other details were available at this time.
First off, my apologies to those that I argued with about Holmes. There was a guy or two on this board (sorry I don't remember who) that said he had character concerns. I argued that there was no evidence of any at all and that he never displayed any character issues at all.
And yet he's been arrested twice in what 30 days? So clearly there are some issues. Not sure how this will pan out but the red flags are flying high now.
Sure, the game may have turned out differently. It's a shame we won't ever know, and it's unfortunate that Palmer got hurt. While it's obvious that the Steelers benefited from his injury, it's not like any Steelers fan that I know - on this board or otherwise - enjoyed the fact that he got hurt. It kinda made me sick at the time. What annoys me about some Bengals fans is when they assume the Bengals would've won with Palmer. That's assinine, and I'm not saying you're one of them. The Steelers' offense moved the ball at will against the Bengals defense on the ground and through the air in all 3 matchups, but that's just overlooked. The Bengals certainly would've had a better chance to keep up, but remember - they won in Pittsburgh in a shootout by winning the turnover battle by 3 or 4 AND they got a kickoff for a TD... and they still only won by a TD.Actually I was referring to the Super Bowl. There ought to be a rule prohibiting trash talk from fans of any team that has not won a playoff game since the 1980s.Actually I was referring to the Super Bowl. I heard a report that the woman has declined to file for a Protection From Abuse against Holmes. I can guarantee you that if someone choked me, threw me to the ground, grabbed me by the arms and threw me into a door I would be filing. This woman is either not telling the complete story or is very stupid.(KFFL) Updating previous reports, Shelly Anderson, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Santonio Holmes was arrested for first-degree misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and assault, along with an outstanding warrant for a traffic violation. The complaint, according to Columbus police officers, was made by Lashae Boone, mother of Holmes' youngest child. Boone told the police she was choked, thrown to the ground, grabbed by the arms and thrown into a door by Holmes. No hospital visit was needed to treat Boone's alleged injuries. Holmes was released on $3,500 recognizance bond and now awaits a trail date.

If she were afraid she would file for a PFA.Or very afraid.
Holmes charged in dispute with child’s mom

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Former Ohio State football player Santonio Holmes, a first-round selection in the NFL draft, choked and bruised LaShae Boone, threw her to the floor, grabbed her arms and slammed her into a door, a Columbus police report said.
Holmes’ mother, however, downplayed his arrest on the Far West Side early yesterday.
Holmes, 22, was charged with assault and domestic violence, both first-degree misdemeanors, after a disturbance that police said involved him and Boone, 20. Holmes pleaded not guilty yesterday afternoon and was released on his own recognizance from the Franklin County jail.
Each charge carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Holmes, a receiver, gave up his final year of college eligibility in January. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected him with the 25 th overall pick in April.
He did not return a phone call seeking comment. His mother, Patricia Brown, said she has talked with Holmes and he is "doing fine."
"This is just a miscommunication," Brown said. "It’s just another nosy neighbor. It will straighten itself out."
Holmes also faces a misdemeanor disorderly-conduct charge in Miami. He was arrested May 31 and has a July 12 court date in that case.
Brown described the incident outside Boone’s apartment as merely an argument until a neighbor called police.
Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Woods said Boone did not immediately go to a hospital.
Boone is the mother of Holmes’ youngest child, daughter Saniya, born in February. Holmes has two older sons, Santonio III and Nicori, by a woman in his hometown of Belle Glade, Fla.
Police responded to two 911 calls. The first call came from a bystander at 11:04 p.m., who reported that a man later identified as Holmes was "putting his hands on his girl" in front of a baby who was "screaming her head off." The caller said the assault was occurring outside and that he and others were trying to stop it.
Boone called six minutes later and said Holmes "put his hands on me" and left as she called the police.
"I don’t know where he’s going," she told the dispatcher.
Holmes returned to the apartment at about midnight, when officers were still there interviewing Boone, police said. He was cooperative and was arrested without incident, Woods said.
Attempts to reach Boone yesterday were unsuccessful. No one answered the door at her apartment, where a Buckeyes banner hangs in an upstairs window.
Officials with Ohio State and the Steelers declined to comment.
On ESPN radio yesterday morning, Steelers coach Bill Cowher said, "It’s unfortunate that these types of things are making the news. It’s not what you want to be doing at this time of year."
Even though he has not signed a contract, as a drafted player Holmes is subject to the NFL’s personal-conduct policy. That dictates that Holmes undergo a mandatory clinical evaluation upon being charged.
If convicted, he will face a possible fine or suspension at the discretion of commissioner Paul Tagliabue. Two convictions would result in an automatic suspension without pay.

This is probably accurate, in which case she is stupid. She must "love" him...
Not necessarily. Protective orders often last a few days if they're granted at all. And they do nothing to prevent abuse after they expire, and in some cases do little good while they're in effect.Face it, when some women get shoved around or beat up by their partners, they're afraid of "what he'll do next time" if they "set him off". It's not logic. It's fear.If she were afraid she would file for a PFA.Or very afraid.
The fact of the matter is we don't know exactly what transpired so get down off that horseNot necessarily. Protective orders often last a few days if they're granted at all. But I can see you want to call her stupid and are heading towards the "she deserved it" view, so carry on.
Link? But you're OK with calling her stupid, not knowing what transpired?
Stop puttting words in my post, I never said she deserved it. I am only saying that not filing for protection from a dangerous person is dumb. The fact that she appeared in court with him and asked him to be released is evidence that the whole incident is overblown or she is not being very smart (aka stupid). It is possible she is afraid of Holmes but to allow fear to keep her from protecting herself (and her baby) is dumb. At the very least she should leave town. How much you wanna bet she doesn't do that? Not necessarily. Protective orders often last a few days if they're granted at all. Post #67 in this thread, which you didn't object to; followed by my post which you did object to.Link? But you're OK with calling her stupid, not knowing what transpired?
Betting on domestic abuse cases is a bit tacky, don't you think? My point is that you seem eager to blame someone who may well be a victim in this incident, because she didn't react the way you think she should. I don't think her reactions (that we know of so far from reports) are much different than reactions of other women in similar situations. She may be doing exactly what she thinks best protects her.It is possible she is afraid of Holmes but to allow fear to keep her from protecting herself (and her baby) is dumb. Jealous much?Like any good fan you're still in denial. I'm not going to debate it again because it's pointless. Absolutely nothing to be gained by another deabte. But it's fun discussing over some beers.how exactly was it handed to them??
Don't want to get too involved in this little argument, and I don't have the statistics, but I've always had the impression that abused women that act this way in similar situations and not get protection but think along the lines of he was drunk, or it has never happened before, or things will be different next time have a pretty good chance of getting abused again. Don't have a link, and to be honest I think this incident is a little overblown, but simply stating the precedent that a bunch of lemmings ahead of you jumped of the cliff doesn’t necessarily make them geniuses.I don't think her reactions (that we know of so far from reports) are much different than reactions of other women in similar situations.
So you admit I didn't call her stupid?Post #67 in this thread, which you didn't object to; followed by my post which you did object to.Link? But you're OK with calling her stupid, not knowing what transpired?
Ok, my last post here because this isn't the FFA. I have never once tried to blame the victim. If he beat her then he deserves to be punished. All I am suggesting is that the incident may be blown out of proportion because she does not appear to be afraid of him.Betting on domestic abuse cases is a bit tacky, don't you think? Frostee Rucker popped for domestic battery as well, was indicted and is scheduled to appear in court. Too much of this going on these days.Holmes, on the other hand, was never cited as a discipline problem or anything like that prior to the draft. The Steelers typically try to avoid such players. The same can't be said for Cincinnati, who drafted guys like Henry and Nicholson knowing full well that their draft stock was tumbling due to off-the-field behavioral issues. They're taking a chance knowingly - it's a strategy. And that's fine by me. It doesn't mean that every time another player gets in trouble, you jump up and point your fingers, as if to say "look, they're doing it too!" That reeks of trying to justify your own team's draft strategy. Don't. Just embrace it, or find another team to root for.
