Scalp crusts (1 Viewer)

Use a high quality gel for styling your hair, wash it once a day with a quality shampoo, no issues. I have a full head of hair and I used to use Denorex back when I was 18-21 and it made things worse. Along the way I stopped using anything you can buy at say Target for your hair, buy all my stuff from Aveda for example and i have no issues. Can even skip a day washing my hair when I want.

Go see a dermatologist. You may need to get some high quality shampoos for psoriasis of the scalp and a topical spray.

I have this issue and you have to learn to live with it and manage it. Most of the time I am fine but when I have a itching episode I use the 2 shampoos he gave me and the topicor for 2 weeks and it works great to calm it down.

I tried all the over the counter stuff.......it will not work on this condition. In fact it made it worse.. I have a full head of hair and use only paul mitchell hair mouse on occasion.

I keep my hair very short now and that also helps a ton.

Good luck.

My son has this pretty bad sometimes.

A lady at my wife's salon told us to soak it in olive oil for a couple hours at night... works like a charm. We just blot it on with a paper towel then wash it out.

I have heard the same thing for jojoba oil and a separate one for apple cider vinegar (with the mother in it)

Most over the counter #### is crap. Neutrogena T-gel works but its like washing your hair with roofing tar. I keep my hair short (#2), and use a glycerin body soap to wash my dome. Works pretty good until we have those <10% humidity days, then I just use hand/body lotion on my head. Works great. Serious stuff, ask your doctor for Elecon. That steroidal crap kicks the crap out of most any skin condition.

I had a scalp infection last year. I treated it with rubbing alcohol. Burned but helped minimize the problem and then what was left eventually cleared up after about 5 months.

See a dermatologist. I have psoriasis so I had this issue (Likely much worse than you before I treated it) There are plenty of topicals that I am sure you could get that would totally eliminate your problem.

Clarifying shampoo and a comb in the shower to gently massage at the affected areas. Rinse well. It'll be gone in two or three sessions.

Paul Mitchell hair mouse? :lmao:
It's the only one I can use that will not cause my dry scalp to flair up.......who gives a crap.
As men, it is our duty to be very judgmental of the products other men put in their hair or on their body.

To keep my scalp from getting dry I use coconut oil. The kind you might find in the grocery store for cooking.

No what I mean is……I have very thick (and a full head) hair….any type of hair gel causes flaking for my scalp….and I have tried several hair mouse brands…..and the Paul Mitchell brand is the only one that does not cause my dry scalp condition to flair up.

I don't use it to help my dry scalp…..I have dermatologist strength shampoos and that topicort spray to use when a real bad flair up occurs.

I am on your side. I don't give a #### what kind of gel you use, not sure why anyone would. No offense.

Apply an oil to the affected area such as emu oil, castor oil, grape seed oil, jojoba, etc. Let it absorb for at least 30-60 min. Then shower it out. Alternate between T-Gel and Nizoral for the shampoo 3-4 days a week.

I buy my hair gel from Walgreens. It's the cheapest #### ever made. But I love it. And my hair looks ####### awesome.

I had bad dandruff when I was younger and used many different products. Reality was, I was just drying out my skin too much by showering every day (I had to as I was playing hockey 7 days a week). Now I rarely shower (sorry, I am just not a sweater), and I don't have the same issue. I am not sure if you are one of those guys who takes multiple showers a day, but if so, you are sapping your skin of essential oils which may be leading to your problem.

How rarely are we talking here?

I shower, on average, 5 times a week.
