Schottenheimer to coach Jets (1 Viewer)

I don't know much about Brian or his philosophy, but if he had any tangible influence on Brees' ascension, that's certainly a positive. One thing's for sure - the Jets have an unbelievably young staff. Mangini at 35 and Schottenheimer at 32. :shock:ETA: just read the bottom paragraph, and he indeed supposedly had some influence on Brees.

Brian Schottenheimer was the whipping boy for many Charger fans in 2003 when it appeared that Brees had failed to develop. Those fans have mostly been quiet for the past two years.

hmmmmmm. That's about all I can muster on Shottenheimer.... (Though the name isn't as hard to spell as you'd think)

Can't say I'm super happy - Figured a young rookie HC would need someone who's been successful running an offense...

This scares me and reminds me of how the Jets set things up when Bradway 1st got here, hiring inexperienced coaches but, claiming to be ready to "Win NOW"

I'm starting to get the feeling that a power struggle is happening between Bradway and Mike Tannenbaum, and that Bradway was looking to counter Mangini, who is Tannenbaum's friend, with an older, more experienced OC. It appears that Bradway was unable to nail down anyone, and instead, wound up with another young first-timer. Is there a DC in the house? Will Mangini even hire one? Will it surprise anyone if Bradway gets forced out in an internal power struggle?

I thought Bob Sutton was a done deal as DC - Their LB coach...At least he's been coaching for a ton of years.

i can only hope

So does anyone think there's any truth to the idea that the Jets are going to trade for Phillip Rivers? And assuming that they trade John Abraham for Rivers, what will they look to do in the draft?
