screwed up playoff teams (1 Viewer)

the league i am in messed up the tiebreaker last week and had a team in that should not have been. what should we do?

there was a four way tie in one division with four teams. after the division winner was determined the other three were vying for the remaining two spots. one team had the three way tiebreaker (best head to head among all three). the problem was we eliminated the team with the worst h to h among the three instead of putting the top team in and then breaking the tie between the final two. the roster situation is not a problem for he would not have won the first round game anyway. I the f'd up commish need to decide to either make the corrections or leave it as it should be. i discovered the mess and no one has complained as of yet. the rub is one team will be playing next week (final 4) and one team who thinks they would be out with the correction. so should it be do the right thing and let the chips fall where they may or leave it and let it be what is is what is. thanks

Dude, I'd be more than happy to help out in this instance if I had the first fabrication of what the issue was. Can you explain it to me a little more clearly so I can provide an adequate response? Thanks.

apologize for the confusion

As the comish, should i just make the changes and reset the playoff teams (rosters are not an issue as all teams put in rosters for toilet bowl etc) to the correct seeding and let the owner who thinks he is the final four and would be out deal with it or should i just leave the mistake as it is and move on? live and learn for next year.

thanks

Thanks for the clarification Bear. I think it's important that you always learn from mistakes and proceed forward as appropriate. In this case I would reseed based on what you think is the fairest approach to the situation. If the other owners object I would tell them to take on the responsibility of commish for next year and see how it feels. Thanks again, and see my post when you get a chance.

Tough situation. I think you have to fix it and get it right... wouldn't be fair to the owner who really should be in if you left your mistake as is.

The only thing you could do to make up for it, is if you are in the playoffs, drop out and let the team that was originally shafted AND the team you mistakingly already told was in each play. Sucks for you, but as Commish, and since it was your mistake, this would be a classy approach.

talk to the guy who is out now first. give him a clear explaination on what happened see if he is man enough to except your explanation and move on. IF he is not, well then you got yourself a fine mess. The games are played and the dude that didn't run the tie-breaker himself to see if he was in or out should have done his homework. I did, i explained to our commish the 4 way tiebreaker to our commish to ensure i was in.
