That's sort of the right question, I think. The blank we're having to fill in here is why he was arrested in the first place.

On the surface, it sure seems like it was "running while big and black" and that forces the hand as to the interpretation of the subsequent events.

And I find it hard to believe that there's all of these people running around, people claiming they heard a gun shot, and that the cops only thought was to find the biggest black guy they could and take him down.

We have no idea what the situation was or if a person matching Bennett's description was fingered as a suspect.  I find it hard to believe that when shots were believed to have been fired and the police could find themselves in a life threatening situation that they would arbitrarily pick out the biggest black guys and take him down for no reason.

You haven't been paying very much attention to...anything.

 
It's reasonable to believe that he wasn't the only person running from what was believed to be gunshots.

It's reasonable to believe that he wasn't the only black man running.

It's reasonable to believe that the police singled him out due to a specific reason. Either clothing, physical condition, or behaviour. (some may say because he was black, but why didn't the police stop all other black males?)

It's reasonable to believe that pro athletes and famous people can and do carry guns and commit crimes. See A Hernandez. 

I would like to see the full video and hear both sides before casting blame.

Yes, I find it difficult to believe that in that situation they would arbitrarily take down someone without cause. If they think there is the potential that they would be shot, the last thing they would want to do is take the time out to arrest, cuff and bag an individual who is not likely involved with the "shooting".  Be they bigoted or not.

 
For anyone that has never been in Vegas after 10pm, the sidewalks are filled with people. (even more so on a big fight night) I see people from all over the world. All colors, languages, and attire. To pick one person out for no reason, just because they are black, makes no sense.

Again, there is no evidence that they picked him out for no reason.  I expect we'll hear something from the LVPD today which will provide further color on the situation. 

One thing l will say is that Bennett wasn't the only black person at the scene.

 
Hopefully there is an explanation coming but in the meantime glad the cops were both Mexican.

I believe he said that there was "several hundred" people that ran.  Surely he wasn't the only black man running.  To word it like he did was interesting to say the least.

It was outside Drais Night club where Chris Brown was playing on the night of a mayweather fight, lol. Might have been like 2 or 3.

Interesting way to phrase it. Coincidentally, there is zero evidence they took him to the ground and cuffed him for any reason at all.

I am completely in the "wait until both sides are known" camp here. I work with enough law enforcement types and believe me, there are some wannabe Rambos amongst their ranks. 

But the one thing that sort of stands out about the whole thing is someone as politically active and with as large of a social media presence as Bennett, waits for as long as he did to talk about this. Maybe he just wanted time to compose his thoughts.  I don't know, but he is very vocal about racial injustice in this country and to me (if true) this is the absolute first hand proof of his argument.

So he exaggerated/lied that someone held a gun to his head and threatened to blow it off and he omitted the part when ran after being asked by the cops to stay? Surprise. Surprise.

Whether you like this or not, police act based on their experiences. You're a smart guy. I suspect you already know this and you're just looking for someone to come out and say what you already know so you can attack them.

 
Why doesn't the video footage show the cop threatening to shoot him?  It's strange that's omitted and that video footage of a NFL player being handcuffed has been magically hiding for two weeks.

His disrespect for the flag & the country because there is not equality as he he says in this country...I guess he has no idea he is allowed to leave at any time. I guess that NFL pay check is just a little more important than going somewhere else. I'm still waiting for all the celebrities to go to Canada & mexico after the election like they promised. Nope all still here pissing & moaning

The video released by the cops shows him running while most of the other people were standing around watching or just getting out of their way. Then he jumps a wall.  :rolleyes:

Yeah that video doesn't exactly support his claim he was just singled out because he was black--I would venture to say it was probably a 20-1 ratio of black to white people in that place The fact he ran out a side door when others are complying and getting down (you can see the officers walking by people who are complying) and then jumped a traffic barrier and is almost taken down in traffic sure doesn't seen to help him..

Where the officers may have trouble is there is clearly something on the officer's hand when he is down--now is it a taser or a real gun and is Bennett handcuffed at that point is what the police say they are currently investigating.  Conveniently it sounds like that officer's cam was not on/not working--funny how that happens. 

Like most stories it appears the truth tends to land somewhere in the middle, but it sure doesn't seem to support his whole narrative that he was singled out because of the color of his skin The idea he was detained in the police car  forever and turns out to be less than 10 minutes again doesn't seem to match up. The fact he never filed any complaints against the police and the fact he is just now speaking out via social media over a week after the event also sheds some doubt on his version of events. 

I bet there will be a ton of cell phone videos that show up here in the next few days that offer additional views and insight. The other thing I kept thinking of while the police were clearing the place was I wonder how much money did people just grab as they were running out of the place

Nicely put.  It isn't uncommon for one to see/remember things differently than the way they may have happened, so I would give Bennett the benefit of a doubt.  I know that 10 minutes can seem much, much longer when you're stressed.  Especially if what he says about the cop putting a gun to his head and threatening him are true.  To me, that's the only remaining issue here.  If the police officer did that he should be kicked off the unit.  

There was a police body camera but it was turned off.

 
 Sources connected to the investigation tell TMZ Sports ... when cops responded to the club for a possible active shooter, they ordered everyone to get down and not to move so they could properly search and investigate.

We're told Bennett did not stay put -- instead, he got up and started running -- and the cop outside the club stopped him and ordered him down to the ground at gunpoint.

Our sources say Bennett was detained until cops could determine he was not  involved in any possible criminal activity ... and he was then released.

It's Vegas.  There are 126 different videos the authorities are currently reviewing.  The truth will definitely come out on this one.
