He is the MVP of the game in my mind. The catch in the 1st half, the catch to get the 3rd and long to setup the go ahead TD. He might have not scored the TDs but without him they punt 2 times and lose most likely.

It doesn't matter what the player wants. The coach is in charge, not the player. RGIII was both at risk and playing poorly. That's two reasons to replace him.

I don't think so Bobby, last I heard Ryan has both his arms and legs working for him. That's why they play the games though but This game changed dramatically when Griffin slowed down ( he was never right to begin with) and Washington became 1 dimensional and their passing game isn't their strength, where Atlanta will be able to pass the ball a lot better.As I said early on in this thread, the downside to a running QB is that he will take unnecessary shots all season long, so enjoy RG3 while we can before the injuries pile up on his body.

why is andrews even at the game when it's clear they don't even listen to him? You give RG3 a drive or 2 in the 2nd half to see if he's recovered. But when it's clear he hasn't you pull the plug. WHen he limped for that 7 yard scramble isn't that clear enough that not only is he pretty much done, he's become ineffective.Bringing in Kirk Cousins up by a FG isn't the worst position in the world to be in, it's not like you got Tebow/Sanchez coming in. At that point i may be able to understand the desperation.

Whoever said (maybe 2 or 3 did) that his huge low scoop for a first down saved the game.... absolutely right, imo.
Atlanta will be able to pass the ball, but they can't run the ball, with Ryan, Turner, or Quizz.

Exactly. It should have been obvious to anyone with two eyes that RGIII was not physically able to execute. Set aside the fact that you are putting your franchise player at risk of serious injury, he was hurting their chances of winning the game.

Most players will attempt to play through just about anything. A coach sometimes needs to protect players from their own worst enemies...themselves. It was pretty obvious that RGIII was playing on 1 leg. Hopefully their franchise guy isn't injured too seriously.
Well, I promised in that Seattle vs. Washington pre-game chatter thread that I would come on here and take my medicine if the Skins lost. So here I am. Congrats Seattle. The Seahawks are a solid team; good luck in the next round.
As a Skins fan, I have mixed emotions. On the one hand, I am extremely happy and proud of the team. No one picked them to do anything this year and they made the playoffs...that is one great accomplishment. On the other hand, watching the gaame, I think they should put in Cousins much earlier in the game. That's on Shanahan...he needs to overrule RGIII for the good of the team. I think this was a winnable game for a while and they really hindered themselves by staying with RGIII even though he was so injured.
That said, Seattle is a fine team who deserved to win this game. Congrats and good luck vs. Atlanta.

yup that's like saying we should leave it up to the boxer to decide when he's done. No when the guy is taking too much punishment the ref needs to step in and just take him out of the fight.That's why it shouldn't be left up to him.

this has been the most unwatchable weekend of football since the preseason. Sucks about RG. Hope he's ok.
His ACL is blown, you could see it. I bet it was partially torn already. Which makes it not as big of a deal as everybody is going to make of it. Although still BS. Was going to need to be repaired regardless. JMO.

The coach, based on inputs from the player and the medical/training staff, and also based on watching the player perform on the field (assuming he goes back in at all, as RGIII did).RGIII was clearly struggling with the knee and it was preventing him from passing or running effectively. So even if you decided to let him play initially, it became clear there was no longer any need to further risk his health when he wasn't able to help the team in this game. He should have been pulled long before the last injury.who should make the decision?That's why it shouldn't be left up to him.

Disagree. They will be better able to prepare in their own facility that they are used to and will be better rested sleeping at home this week rather than in a hotel.

No....no it's not. Here's the prob, rg3 long term health aside, he (and the offense) were worthless after he reagrevated that knee. Cousins has played in 2 must win situations this season and won. As a coach, you have to say cousins give them a better chance to win today, and that's not hindsight, that was glaringly obvious at halftime.

I don't see that happening at all. He's THE surgeon for the league. His word is like Gods. I don't know how anyone would side against him.

I don't think that was the field. I just think he planted, made lateral, twisting movement to change direction (as anyone would), and the knee just couldn't take it.

Looked like the ground was quicksand there and gave out as he planted and boom it tore as he did he tried to turn and did the splits- a firmer grass field and I don't think that happens.
