Sean Jones (1 Viewer)

I haven't heard this guy's name being kicked around since the surgery. I know Adams has been filling in nicely during his absence, but does anyone know what CLE's plans are for Jones upon his return?

will he be able to play in week7?

can he regain his IDP goodliness?

thanks for your thoughts on this matter

Jones will take a bad angle or two once in a while, but he's one of the better defenders Cleveland has. As soon as he's healthy, he'll be starting. He may rotate a little in his first game, but there's no reason to expect that Jones won't be a top ten caliber DB shortly after his return given how the Browns are playing.

per rotoworld

The Browns expect SS Sean Jones (knee) to return to practice this week.Check the late-week practice reports to make sure he can go against the Redskins Sunday.
If anyone who follows the Browns a little better than me would be kind enough to update this thread with any late-breaking info, that would be great.

I heard he was partially practicing last week, so if he practices fully this week, I would suspect that he would play, maybe sparingly though in week 7. I'm also watching him as he is a FA in my league and will be looking to pick him up when he returns.

Yeah a 100% Jones would be a nice start vs. the Redskins but I just don't think he will be playing all of his nornal snaps. If you have the bench space stash him for a week; if not try for him next week.

Sounds like Jones is going to play, I wouldn't expect him to play full time this week but as a Browns fan I'm just thrilled to know Adams isn't going to be playing every snap anymore. There's a reason that guy's a backup. If all goes well this week and he wakes up Monday morning with nothing more than the usual aches and pains he should be a full go week 8 vs. Jax.

glad to see a sean jones thread being lit up like a christmas tree!

should i drop one of them for sean jones? if so, which one?

Depends on the scoring. Tillman has a banged up shoulder at the moment.

Bell
I wouldn't be so quick to drop Bell. If you average out his #'s over 6 games it puts him in the top 3 DB's in most formats. Personally, I wouldn't drop any of the ones you have listed for Jones. Yes Jones can be a beast, but the three you have are already there. Just my opinion of course, but I wouldn't drop Bell for any other DB out there right now. If you absolutely had to drop someone, I would lean towards Ndukwe because of Jackson being almost healthy and noone knows what is going to happen there for sure. I also have Ndukwe and Bell and had the chance to grab Jones but wouldn't part with my guys.

thanks for the advice guys. i did drop ndukwe for jones although i see where hindsight could make me look like an idiot or a genius in a big way. i agree with the value of bell being really high as well.

not expecting the world from jones this week, but i am starting him.

good luck in week 7, all!

I'm debating starting him today. Check the poll "Sean Jones Owners." Let's see how many of us are starting him.

Anyone know his status for the upcoming game against Baltimore?
We'll know more tomorrow, I'd think. If he gets any practice time today, I'd think it a very good sign. Thursday and Friday practices will probably tell the tale. Hopefully, he can increase his practice time all week without a setback. Should be reassuring that the team felt that the swelling didn't require an early week MRI.

I took the following from a fleaflicker link http://www.fleaflicker.com/showHeadlines.do?playerId=568

2 Hrs S. Jones DB CLE

Browns safety Sean Jones did not practice with the team on Wednesday due to a sore knee, according to ClevelandBrowns.com. Jones had surgery on the knee and missed four games, and his availability for Sunday's game against rival Baltimore is in question.
I guess there's no word on whether he's good to go.

Safety Sean Jones (swollen right knee), guard Ryan Tucker (knee), fullback Lawrence Vickers (ankle) and defensive tackle Corey Williams (left shoulder) all sat out practice to receive treatment. The swelling in Jones’ surgically repaired knee was of some concern earlier in the week, but Crennel downplayed such talk.“Even though Sean has been back for a while, he’s still ahead of schedule (from his Sept. 11 operation),” the coach said. “By resting him, that gives him a chance to catch up.”

not a very productive day
He was actually around the play for most of the day, but always was a clean up role. He whiffed on a few tackles, which big hitters do. He almost had a sack too. Regardless of excuses, 1 pt just doesn't cut it though. :football:

I watched this whole game. Jones played near the line of scrimmage early in the game and then played deep middle when the game opened up a little. He was really never around the ball to make a tackle and wiffed on a run by Ray Rice and got run over on the goal line by McClain. I would not start him with very much confidence going forward until he looks healthy enough to contribute. He does however have a great matchup this week against Denver. Start him at your own risk.

He's rather high in this weeks projections. I'd like to hear the reasoning for that after a horrible week.

Probably based on what has been a very good matchup (DEN), though I agree the so-so week against a similarly good matchup (BAL) would temper my expectations a bit.

Well he's got 5 solo. Looks better than last game. He seems to be playing pretty deep on some plays.
