Glad to see the Seachickens lose. They'll never win a Superbowl with Carrol anyways so the fans might as well get used to losing again.

Kind of relieved the hawks lost one.....dint want them to win out
Yeah, good win for the Niners. Seahawks played them punch for punch though, so I can't be too disappointed.Solid game from 49er defense. They deserved to win this game.
Not quite sure what to say about Kaepernck. I wouldn't go so far as to say they won in spite of him, but there's something there that just isn't right. I don't think SF needs him to be a great passer to win it all, but they're going to need something more and I'm not sure he has it in him. Would like to hear the SF faithful sound off on this. Am I way off base here?
When will you stop talking about me and talk about the hawks?I'm so happy I don't have to read ITS preen this week.
Overall, I don't like losing and wish we could have won at their house.
Having said that, we didn't get blown out so I'm fine with it and made my peace. I wish we could have gotten out of it with fewer injuries however.
The injuries are more concerning than losing the game. What injuries? Wright and who else?Overall, I don't like losing and wish we could have won at their house.

Yeah Im not too worried about Kaep in the long term...he hasn't progressed like Wilson has, but not many QBs do. He has barely a full season of starting under his belt, he will get better. Next season there will be no excuses if he doesn't progress. Hopefully Harbaugh will live up to his QB guru rep and work with Kaep on his weaknesses, reads, etc...and I.also hope they let him run a *bit* more...he always seems tentative to run and slides way to early. I remember Harbaugh telling Colin not to hit the weights too hard in the offseason because he could sacrafice some of his speed and elusiveness...maybe that's what has happened, because he's not the same runner he was last year - when he gets room to run he doesn't seem as quick and fleet footed as he was, and he doesn't have those signature long runs, so even though teams still have to account for him using his legs, the threat isn't the same, IMO. He also doesn't seem to feel pressure very well. I don't know how you coach him up on that, but his pocket awareness definitely needs to improve, and he needs to learn how to step up in the pocket - he never does that. He also needs to work in developing touch passes. I see too many times guys open that he could loft a nice touch pass to but he always wants to zip his throws.I'll give him a whole 'nother off-season with some roster improvements to start thinking his where he is at. Right now, the 49ers bigger problem is their depth at the run game if Gore can't hold up.Solid game from 49er defense. They deserved to win this game.

One thing that stuck out at me today in particular was the fact that Kaepernick had terrible touch on his check down passes. Those aren't big gainers, but someone like Wilson (or, dare I say, Alex Smith) does a great job of getting it to a RB and getting 3-4 yards on a first down passing play when nothing is open downfield. Kaepernick missed on several of those, making it 2nd & 10 instead of a more manageable 2 & 5-6. Kaepernick is an extremely accurate downfield thrower, but the boom/bust nature of Kaepernick's passing plays keeps them from getting in a consistent rhythm offensively.Solid game from 49er defense. They deserved to win this game.

Seriously, if you look at just this year, they aren't the same on the road.Game plan to beating Seattle....begins with not playing them in Seattle
Left Pec injury, not sure the extent. If it's not a tear, he'll not miss much time I wouldn't think.Oh yeah, that's right. Any word about it?UngerWhat injuries? Wright and who else?Overall, I don't like losing and wish we could have won at their house.

You got it. Kaep looks to have settled in this very mediocre groove this season and it will take this offseason for him to repair/correct the issues. He just isn't very "heady" when it comes to the game... not yet at least. He needs to really focus in the offseason and stop doing commercials, etc. I would certainly be concerned if Gore watches from the sideline for any substantial amount of time. Next season, let's hope Lattimore steps in to provide a boost and a breather in Gore's final year.I'll give him a whole 'nother off-season with some roster improvements to start thinking his where he is at. It's ok, the PAC12 did well this year.Seahawks came in and played a good physical game - while these teams matchup well, it doesn't look like there is a single team in the NFL capable of winning in Seattle, & it looks like all NFC hopefuls will have to travel to the PNW.
Signed,
Depressed but realistic 49er fan

Wasn't raining on your parade, just don't remember them looking so dramatically different between home and road in 2012, which is why i qualified it. Didn't they have a 3-4 game stretch last year where they set a league record for cumulative points that had stood for a half a century (that included a few road games, i think)? Maybe they have more injuries this year? When was the last time they lost at home?Seriously, what team is? Despite my unfounded doubts last year, I have faith long-term. I see the postseason as win-win for us. If we drop out in wildcard or divisional round, we can hopefully sign Kaep, Aldon, and/or Crab to relatively cheap/not exorbitant extensions. They've all had their issues this year and I'm hoping it makes them cheaper to extend. Not a guarantee. If we get to the NFC Championship game, or particularly SB it will be much more expensive. Not Sleeping said:Faithful here, and I'd say you're dead on. There's definitely reason to worry about his regression this year. I'm still hoping he proves us wrong, but yeah, he's just not looking the same as last year even in the games that they win easily. I could be ok with the bicep kissing, the petulant two word answers to the press, and wearing another team's hat in the offseason when he was lighting it up, but it grows a little tiresome when he's not. And this is coming from a guy who was telling people at the beginning of the season that there wasn't another QB in the league that I'd rather have than Kapper. So yeah, I've been disappointed with what I've seen this year, but as I said, still hopeful that he'll prove me wrong.Hooper31 said:Solid game from 49er defense. They deserved to win this game.

It is also possible that he just isn't very smart. R Wilson is very, very bright. Kaep might just not be in the same echelon.slackjawedyokel said:You got it. Absolutely.Comparing Kaepernick to Wilson just doesn't seem fair to Kaepernick. Wilson is a freak. Kapernick is probably going to be really good, he's just on a more normal development curve.

So what you're saying is that aside from being inferior on short and intermediate passes, Kaepernick is just as good as Wilson? You all are tripping.
Kaep and Wilson had extremely similar games today, and people are calling Wilson the league MVP. The thing about Kaep is that he has no touch on short and intermediate passes so he needs a WR with great hands (obvious, I know). Crabtree will get better, and Kaep will magically get better, as well.
This was a fantastic win wherein the Niners D dominated the consensus #1 team, and the Niners' playoff chances are looking much improved. Oh yeah, and Harbaugh still gets to pound on his underdog drum throughout the post-season. Things are trending up.
1. Not that many are calling Wilson the MVP. Most are saying he is in the discussion, but that's it.Kaep and Wilson had extremely similar games today, and people are calling Wilson the league MVP.

I agree that Kaep should not be the league MVP. And I think I agree that you should not take away much from either QB's performance in these Niner - Hawks games.Mainly I was trying to rib the guy in the Wilson MVP thread claiming that Wilson dominated the Niners D.1. Not that many are calling Wilson the MVP. Most are saying he is in the discussion, but that's it.Kaep and Wilson had extremely similar games today, and people are calling Wilson the league MVP.
2. Wilson and Kaepernick having similar games today doesn't mean a lot as far as MVP-relevancy goes, unless you think today alone should dictate the award. Take away today, and look at the rest of the season, and it is obvious that Wilson has had the far better season, thus him getting his name thrown into the MVP discussion.
