I'm a Bay Area guy who went to Qwest last Sunday for the SF/SEA game. Not going to pile on the outcome, but have a question regarding the National Anthem. The Anthem was sung while the players were still in the locker rooms, and about 5 minutes before player introductions. I have never seen this done at any level of sporting event and was curious as to if this is something done regularly. I personally believe that players and coaches should all be participants during our great Anthem. Didnt ruin my day, by any means, but was curious if this was unique to Qwest Field.

On a side note, it was pretty cool seeing Alice in Chains cover Cashmier at half-time, even sans Layne(r.i.p.)

Anthem should be sung with all present and showing respect. Quest screwed up this time. :goodposting:

ETA - I was at the Bears preseason game there and they did the anthem right before kickoff with players present.

Feel much better knowing that this was an isolated incident at Qwest. Anybody heard of this ever happening elsewhere?

I dont see why this matters
As a father I have tried to teach my son the importance and significance of the National Anthem, especially coming from a family of Vets, also having recently lost one in the Gulf. It absolutly matters when I am trying to explain to my kid that the players actually do care, they were just saluting inside. Not sure he bought it. It will always matter.
