I realize that the Player pages are a work in progress but was just wondering in Seneca Wallace is just an oversite or is a player that will be add later?I know there are a couple of Seattle homers on staff and was just suprised that he wasn't listed yet.

He jumped and touched a pipe 12 feet high in the Seahawks workout gym.Seneca Wallace is a great athlete and I hope they get him on the field in some way.

He falls under "a work on progress".

Krob should do a better job hiding his pipe :) :also couldn't resist:

Seriously, I hear that the hawks have been trying him out as a punt returner in mini-camp.

I wrote the information for the Outlook, but he was deemed unworthy at the moment. I suggest you send hate mail to Clayton demanding the Wallace player page.

I heard this as well, and also heard he was the best punt returner they have. Problem is though, he has looked so good a QB, the Hawks plan on him being the #2 QB.

SEATTLE'S "SLASH"

Seattle has a need for a No. 2 quarterback and a punt returner. Seneca Wallace could be both. At last weekend's minicamp, Wallace backed up Matt Hasselbeck and looked more impressive than any punt returner in camp. However, Wallace's quarterback skills have improved so much, the Seahawks have put off their search for another No. 2 quarterback, making it more unlikely that Seattle will use Wallace as its punt returner. Wallace has made that much progress at quarterback.

But Wallace can do anything he wants in Seattle. Last season, he played some wide receiver in practice. At other times, he played defensive back on the scout team. And to provide an example of how good an athlete he is, consider this: The Seahawks have a 12-foot high pipe hanging in their locker room. Wallace is the only player on the roster who can jump up and touch it.

I saw most of Seneca's games at ISU and the guy has the the potential to be a very good NFL QB if he has improved his passing. He was a poor man's Michael Vick in college and had a lot of the accuracy problems Vick had. Maybe spending a few years on the bench will be good for him. I definitely see him as one of the top young backups in the league.

..or a poor man's Randle El.The real "problem" is he's a combination of Randle El and Vick, takes a lot of the positives from both, but also more of the negative. While ARE will never be a QB, and he's ok with it, Wallace just might be, but he isn't as good a WR. OTOH, he isn't the QB Vick is (which is really saying something).

But, if Wallace can be the #2 QB and the PR/KR guy, what's his value in large 2 QB start leagues?

What makes this even more impressive is that Wallace is only 5'11".

Seneca solid; Seahawks stop Saints 34-15

NFL.com wire reports

NEW ORLEANS (Aug. 12, 2005) -- Mike Holmgren said the preseason would be important for Seneca Wallace, and Wallace rose to the challenge.

Wallace, tapped as Matt Hasselbeck's backup after Trent Dilfer was traded to Cleveland, scored on a slashing 24-yard scramble and passed for another touchdown in the Seahawks' 34-15 victory against the New Orleans Saints in the preseason opener for both teams.

The third-year reserve out of Iowa State played from early in the second quarter through the third, completing 12 of 20 passes for 137 yards. His touchdown pass was a perfect toss that dropped softly over the shoulder of former Saints receiver Jerome Pathon for a 28-yard score.

"He's a really fine passer. That gets overlooked because he is quick and he can run," Holmgren said. "His touchdown run was really something, but he threw some very, very good passes. ... We have to get him ready to play in (regular-season) games if it's necessary."

Half of Wallace's incompletions were dropped balls, including one bullet over the middle that appeared to be a certain touchdown until it slipped through D.J. Hackett's hands in the end zone. That drive ended with Josh Brown's 30-yard field goal.

"I felt really comfortable, and also the line gave me great protection and the running backs ran the ball well. All that just helped me out," Wallace said. "It was all up to Mike to keep me in there and keep seeing things."

Maybe holding onto Wallace in a dynasty for the last two years wont be as funny as some of my leaguemates thought.

Seneca only threw one pass today but it was to Warrick for 42 yards. Anyone see it?
Beautiful pass. Warrick and Wallace were in for scrub time. Straight fly pattern down the sideline. Warrick was just too fast for the corner.

Anybody know when Hasselbeck's contract is up?Edit: Nevermind, see they locked him up long term... How about Seneca's contract?

Seneca is an UFA - I wonder if someone like AZ would take a shot on him and let him back up Warner for a year..
