Serious Business Dynasty League (1 Viewer)

With the dispersal draft approaching the bottom of the barrel, our thoughts should turn to when to open the rest of the league to transactions. It really all depends on what CBS allows us to do but we should have some advance discussion around the topic.Last year, we ran week one waivers before going back to first come, first served pickups. The waivers system was much unloved, but I wanted to throw it out as an option if for no other reason than to avoid any injuries in the mad dash. The other thing to consider is whether to give the three new clubs a chance to use their injury slot and add a 37th player before general transactions begin.
I think we should run the waivers soon after the draft ends just like last year and then we can open up the usual free for all as ususal. No opinion on the injury round. Doesn't matter much imo in Feb....WAIT, we did week one waivers after the season started last year? Really?
The whinedown starts on page one of this thread (March 2010) and runs for a couple of pages.
I am leaning towards having our first waiver after the first week of the season. I want to see those last couple of votes though before deciding every day waivers or every Sunday or Monday.
Sound familar?
No, lol. I have a five year old and almost two year old and A.D.D. I'm open to whatever.

Mr. IrrelevantI'll input rosters tonight and we can decide on when to open up transactions.boubucarow: If you're still tracking all the dispersal picks like you were before, I'd be much obliged if you could post the latest picks.

Pik, I will get back to you in the morning some time.

Check your rosters.

Transactions are still locked. We'll open up first come, first served free agency sometime next week.

Are we gonna run a round of waivers first like last year? Thoughts? Anyone?
Waivers was kind of a clusterfk last year and got voted down after one week. Except for that week, it's always been a FC/FS league so we should be consistentI think a big part of the problem last year was that we had a late start and were catching up to a bunch of spring training injury and playing time developments. This got a bunch of people chasing after the same players. Since we're opening free agency six weeks earlier this year, this shouldn't be a problem.

You don't think that the one shot waivers after the dispersal draft is a good way to go? And then open FCFS? I'm after a couple of FA's for sure right now and don't want to have to sit at the computer waiting for it to open.

IIRC, Finless and RnR were the loudest voices against waivers. The one time we used waivers was pretty universally hated. I was in favor of them last year but the way CBS ran them was kind of screwy, so I had no problems going back to FC/FS.The dispersal draft owners did a pretty good job of scraping the bottom of the barrel. I don't see an obvious #1 left there. If we open free agency early enough, we can avoid a queue for the spring training phenoms. I personally think waivers is an unnecessary complication at this point but I'm open if anyone makes a good case for them.

I'm dead-set against waiver on the day-to-day workings of this league, but I have no problem if you want to run one set of them prior to spring training to start things off. My main concern last season was not being able to add a player or two within the week if needed.

I only meant a one shot once a year after dispersal draft waiver run. Nothing else. And it would be asap. Say one week after dispersal draft ends on years we actually have one to ensure people have a chance to get their picks in.

I kinda want to do the same thing every year. What if next dispersal draft some nice player goes undrafted. That could be a headache. I wish more people would weigh in on this.

Hopefully these dispersal drafts aren't needed every year. I'm sure somewhere down the road we'll lose people, but we should have a more stable group of owners now.

This pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter. Once a year, pre-spring training waivers would be OK. Also fine if we just skip to FCFS.

I agree that it probably wont happen often but im afraid of setting a president (lol) and down the road having a problem when there IS a vg player or prospect still out there after a dispersal draft is all. We could even do a waiver like three days after dispersel ends if u guys are in a rush. We really should have a one rounder after dispersal imo but whatever the majority wants.

I would agree on having a one round free agent draft on the opposite of the standings before we get to FCFS every year.

I'm OK w/ this. Doing a reverse draft by last year's standings seems fairer than the mysterious and arbitrary waiver process (where I'm somehow at #1 priority BTW).

Im around all day. Backs out so im stuck on the couch. Watching Bolton now and Inter later. Send offers.

I say 1 round of waivers
this
The problem with this is CBS doesn't seem to have a way to do this. If we choose waivers, we get full waivers; if someone makes 36 transactions, the process will run through all rounds. If we want to limit the pre-FCFS moves to one round, we need to do it with an offline mini-draft. I'm OK w/ this, although it seems like a PitA considering some teams will probably pass. Let's get this started and finished ASAP because the longer we wait, the greater the risk of some player emerging due to an early camp injury. All players dropped during the mini-draft can't be repicked until normal transactions begin. My order of preference is still FCFS, mini-draft, waivers, but I can live with either of the first two.
