Very classy comments by Shanahan. He gave Pittsburgh credit and wished them well in the Super Bowl and when asked if Plummer having the flu all week had any impact on the game, he said, "absolutely not..they just beat us." Way to stay classy, Shanny.

 It's well documented that I'm no Shanny fan, but he told it like it is and made no excuses. For that, I promise not to call him "Skeletor" verbally or in print until after the NFL draft.

I liked how Roetlesberger took of his AFC champ hat before he shook Plummers hand - as if not to rub it in so soon...classy all around.

Ben Roethlisberger is quickly becoming one of my favorite players in the entire NFL. He just seems to handle every situation like a grizzled vet. :banned:

Note: Mike Shanahan definitely handled the press conference in a classy manner.

Agreed. all around to the Broncos and how they handled themselves.

rod smith, lynch, and shanahan are feared and respected talents. they all showed up today but met a stronger team. lelie and plummer really picked up their games this year. they will be a force this fall.

True, but man, if Lynch could have just held on to the duck that Ben threw up... :hot:

Yep, if you watched the game of the week between Pitt and Indy on the NFL network this past week where Ben was wired for sound, you would have heard the following exchange between Big Ben and Tony Dungy after the game:Tony: "Congratulations. You deserve it."

Ben: "Thanks a lot. I respect you so much."

Tony: "Good luck next week."

Ben: "Thank you, sir."

I wish some of today's spoiled athletes could have heard that conversation.

I wonder if Denver was overconfident, as:A) They knocked off the Super Bowl champs B) They didn't have to travel to Indy (where they've been killed in the last two playoffs)C) They were 4-0 when hosting the AFC Championship Game

I wish I knew the answer to that. They came out flat got out coached and got their ahses handed to them. They are my favorite team and my hat goes off to the Steeler's. You played better and deserve to go to the Super Bowl.

LOL! Thanks Evilgrin. I've read a lot of your posts and know your not a fan of Shanahan. I suppose us Shanny backers have to take what we can get from you at this point. I have my doubts whether you can keep that promise though. Just look at it as giving something up for lent. I'll be pulling for you though. You are still in the circle of trust....but I got my eyes on you. LOL!

Has this been posted?"Yeah, they were really good. Obviously, we got in a hole early and with the turnovers we had hurt that. We could have ran the ball more, had we stayed close, we could have ran the ball on them, but they have a very fast defense, has a good scheme and guys that can make some plays. "We wanted to get them, but we didn't and we wish them the best. "They're not done and I'm sure they want to go win the Super Bowl. They beat three good teams, us included and that's a heck of an accomplishment. "Hey, with or without turnovers, if we lose, I'm taking the blame on this one. That's my job, as a quarterback, I got to lead this team to a win and I didn't get that job done. We fought hard all year and all through this game, but I made a couple of poor decisions and in a game like this you can't do that. "We're disappointed, but we have to think of this as a step in the right direction. That's a great team I played with this year. Everyone on this team gave it their all, even practice squad guys and the scout team on up. It's hard because you put in a lot of work and a lot of effort and it started back in August and back in April and now it's over. There's not a person in this locker room who didn't try their hardest to get the job done." -- Jake Plummer, ESPNewson his team's 34-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday

I would like to add that Car handled the loss just as well as Den did. All 4 teams playing this week seem to be as classy as they get.

It's so hard to dislike the Broncos when they show themselves to be a class act. And yes Slayer - absolutely. Ben is becoming a fave of everyone in the nation. Bettis already is, so I'm guessing 90% of the people who don't live in Washington will be pulling for the Steelers.

I've been to quite a few opposing stadiums and I have to say the Broncos fans are the classiest fans I have ever met.

I hope Peyton Manning watched and learned from Shanny! Classy!!

Shanny's

"I hope they win one for the AFC"

remark gets   in my book.

Classy fella
Returned in kind. After the 1997 AFCC game, I remember Cowher saying he was our "biggest fan" for the Super Bowl.A lot of respect between these coaches, obviously. I didn't realize until earlier this week that Cowher wanted to hire Shanahan in 1992 but he chose the Niners instead.

:lmao: I'll hold up, I promise. After reading that Shanahan actually went to the Steelers locker room to congratulate the team after the win.....

If he keeps this up, I might actually start liking the guy. He's earned my respect already, but I really don't want to like him, so he had better knock it off. :P

Not to overuse the term here, but that is one classy statement. I wish all players would handle themselves in such a manner.

I would just like to bump this to say that I have upheld my end of the bargain, but come Monday, all bets are off. Search my name and that He-Man character in conjunction if you need evidence of this. :D
