Shannon Sharpe on Belichick (1 Viewer)

I just don't get it. Are people just realizing what this guy is like? He pretty much despises the media. He despises them almost the same amount when he wins than when he loses. This has been going on for over a decade. He gives a weekly interview on WEEI, these guys are basically professional Patriot ball washers. They rarely ask him anything close to a difficult question - he still gives them crap for the most part. He's a little more affable, he is actually pretty funny sometimes, but when it comes to the game it's "play better, coach better" and "we didn't do enough on offense, defense, or special teams" over and over. They asked him about Talib going out, if that had a big impact on the game, and his answer was something like "whenever you lose a player, you have to adjust. Injuries happen in the National Football League."It's probably just time to get over it. Poke at him all you want when he loses, God knows he's got it coming to him, but acting surprised that he's not giving an interview is a little weird.
I'm probably in the minority, but I like the fact that he doesn't like the media or play the BS game. Frankly, it's refreshing.
Agreed.I love his obvious disgust for the media pot stirrers.

I'm 100% positive this has already been talked about, but I don't want to have to try and dig it up, so I'll ask here. Did you see where Sharpe said, and I paraphrase, "That's why you root against the Patriots, because of Bill Belichick". Basically saying he should have come out for the losing coach interview, but chose not to because he lost and took his ball and went home.
Sharpe wasn't overly classy in handling the situation either. Bill is a sore loser. He should probably do the interview but does anyone know if he is actually contractually obligated to interview with CBS?

Shannon should talk to his brother Sterling about media relations. That guy made it part of his job to ignore the local media for his entire career.Shannon just comes across as a Raven homer with his blast.

No, he is not contractually obligated. He is obligated to address the media after the game, which he did.Of course, it is my understanding that Jim Harbaugh also did not give an on-field, post-game interview with the network that carried the NFC game, but no one seems to be talking about that. In fact, John Harbaugh went out of his way to point out how gracious and respectful Belichick was to him with his words after the game, but that of course also gets ignored.Belichick does not take losing well (this is not breaking news), but unless you have some vested interest in the network, it's a little funny to pretend to be offended that the network missed out on an exclusive interview that would have provided literally zero insight.

But if Brady had done something like that then he would have been as classless as his coach for running up the score.

I'm anything but a BB fan or Pats fan, but its totally BS to run up to these guys and bust their balls immediately after a game.

Only to Patriot fans. The rest of the country loves that someone in the national media called that tool out for what he is.

I habe never seen a problem with his interviews because they are very, cut-to-the-chase TRUTH. Yeah, he's not colorful, but he's correct. When the Offense plays sloppy, he says that. When they turn the ball over too much, he says that. Seems like he criticized for not being a stand up comedian. At the end of the day, we will remember some coaches more for their press conferences (Green, Mora, etc). We will remember Belichick more for his coaching. There is nothing wrong with that.

I agree with this 100%. I believe the post game interview after the coach has had some time to digest what just happened to him would suffice.

If you're an OC you run the offene and tell them whta to do. If you're a DC you run the defense and tell them what to do. If you're a head coach you run get the big bucks, you run the team and tell then what to do and you deal with the press and their questions. I don't think its a lot to expect.

I kinda find it funny that you referenced a stand up comedian in reply to a post by The Comedian.

Ought oh - looks like Shannon "Mushmouth" Sharpe didn't get the memo...Heard Steve Tasker say that he, and the whole crew, knew about Belichick not wanting to talk to him after the game on the Friday before the game. Tasker had players lined up in place of Belichick. You'd think before Mushy went off on this issue that someone would have clued him in.

Tasker:

"Listen, and obviously Bill [belichick] doesn't owe me anything … I've obviously been on one or two radio shows talking about this, we knew he wasn't going to do it on Friday. He didn't stand us up. We asked him in our production meeting, 'Listen, Bill, if you win you get the trophy presentation all that. If you lose, I'll be outside the locker room we want to talk to you then.' He was like, 'eh, I don't do that very well.' But he goes, 'We'll see.'"

Sharpe is a braying jack-###.
