Shark Pool Board Mock Draft - Version 1 (1 Viewer)

Are there guidelines for pick times? If not I think we need to probably just calm down and allow some time between picks here.

Obviously if you allow trades in this draft it's going to take longer.

I hope it's a safe assumption that on Sunday afternoon there should very little expectation of picks being made.

With the 2nd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams pick:

Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St.

With the Rams lacking a big receiver play making threat for Sam Bradford, they give him the best receiving prospect of this draft by a mile. There is a significant need for OL, but the Rams will try to sign Saints OL Carl Nicks and improve this need in FA. The Rams attempted to trade down with the Browns and Redskins, but the market for trading was really soft. Had we traded down with the Browns, we would still be selecting the Blackmon or Matt Kalil. If a trade was made with the Redskins and both of those players were gone, then Morris Claiborne would have helped immensely at the CB position.

wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....

I can see this happening for sure. But I thought kalil would be your pick, for sure.

Bradford has his weapon now!

Oh, what the heck... Let's see what happens here.

Trade:

The Washington Redskins trade this year's #6 pick and next year's 1st rounder to the Vikings for the #3 pick.

If the Rams were more cap strained, I definitely think Kalil would end up making most sense. I really see them pursing Nicks in FA though since they have wheel barrels worth of money. I think VJax and DBowe are great WR FA's, just don't see either too interested in StL though at the moment.

I have to apologize to rifkin because I went yes/no/yes on him through PMs involving this trade.

I don't see him here, but assume that trade up was for RGIII and move on.

#3 - Washington Redskins - Robert Griffin III

here it is... #4.... and for what it's worth, and mr Rymer can verify, I wasn't taking RG3 with my pick.

With the #4 pick in the 2012 entry draft, the Cleveland Browns Select: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

Commentary:

Surprise, surprise... a CB. Now, some of you may have expected me to take RG3, and I would have. But I'm going a different direction with this pick.

Haden is a star in the making, while Sheldon Brown really picked it up this year. Problem is, Brown is becoming (is) an old man. Skrine and Patterson could be good replacements, but I have a better idea up my sleeve.

The Browns will use this pick to bolster their defense with an elite talent to compliment Joe Haden. In a division where D is king, the Browns go balls deep and make their pass defense the envy of the NFL.

I really do like this pick and have for a while now. Pitt is not a run first team anymore and the Cinci passing game is vastly improved with Dalton-Green. Baltimore is the only run-first team in the North now. Haden, Claiborne and Ward will make a nice secondary for years to come.

I was trying to work on trading back since you said no, but ok RGIII to Skins it is. Personally I hope they trade back but I can't fault them for going for RGIII if they think he is worthy.

I was really thinking that Kalil would go to the Rams, in which case I was going to take the trade down with Washington on the feeling that Blackmon would be there at #6 since I knew rizzler wasn't going to take him for the Browns and Tampa wouldn't go that direction after taking WRs often the last couple drafts.

I like Blackmon and kind of hope he's the guy the Vikes get.

Joe Flacco just burst out crying after I made my pick... from his Hotel room in SF...
