Yeah, the Texans have a tough schedule but the defense really looks like it's going to be tough. Playoff schedule isn't bad and they're at home 15 and 16. And Arizona starts off with New Orleans. Don't hate that. Didn't figure you'd go that way with the Ravens in your back pocket.

For me it is mainly the lack, or inexperience, of the WR group. We have Meyers, Tucker and two rookies. I think they will be running a lot of multiple TE sets and he Mayer could still be very involved in the passing game. Plus I’m a Raider fan and I always have my rose coloured glasses on at this time of year.

It's probably a Raiders Homer thing. Everything that follows should remember that.

Every report about him this off season talks about how focused and motivated he has been all off season. Working on his craft, etc.

Plus the general belief that Chip Kelly will bring significant improvement to the offense. I don't think we're going to see the same 3 step drop, unload to Bowers, rinse/repeat thing we saw for most of last year. Chip and Geno are much better than that.

Also, let's remember that Mayer was a helluva prospect himself. No one considered him a reach at pick 35. No one considered Tyree Wilson a reach either but that hasn't worked out great either.

Personally, Mayer's exactly the type of late.round flyer I look for. Could have taken any number of 550 yard, 4 TD guys at this point. Like Hunter Henry, who @DA RAIDERS took as I was typing this. Might as well go with the young one with a bunch of upside.
