Shark Pool Mock Draft - #1 (3 Viewers)

Lions could go Dee Milliner
Him or a DE I'd think
LT is my pick if I was the GM. Have Joekel(SP) at LT and Rielly Rieff at RT, that's great protection for Stafford. All they do is throw, plus in division pass rushers: Jared Allen, Peppers, Matthews
If Joeckel is there, the Lions cannot pass on him.
If the Lions don't take Joeckel then I'm opening up the Browns pick for a possible trade-down because Arizona will pounce on him with the pick after Cleveland. The 6th pick in the draft for a second round selection but I'd only trade down as far as San Diego's pick.

I would think eitherr Joeckel or Milliner for Detroit. Joeckel would be hard to pass up at that point, best player available scenario, however I can see an argument for Milliner, Lions need a CB.

Beat me to it. Either would work here really. Joeckel falling is really surprising.

Joeckel seems an easy choice here for Det. They need help on D but keeping Stafford upright with a stud LT prospect is a gift they can't turn away IMO.

I think it would be a good idea when each team makes their pick to cut-and-paste the rest of the draft so we can see which players have been taken and who is up next.

I'll also do a recap of why I took Jarvis Jones and I think many would like to hear why a team took a player.

ARIZONA UP NOW!

When all your $$ is in the QB and the best WR in the game you take the franchise left tackle here.
I'm just going by the fact that most experts seem to think there's not a ton of difference between Joeckel and Fisher, yet in every mock I've read, both Milliner and Fisher have been available and the Lions have gone with Milliner, with most calling it a no-brainer. I'm no Lions homer, so I defer here, just seems to me that most think CB is a far greater need than LT, so if that IS the case, they'd have to think Joeckel is a far better prospect than Fisher to take him here with Milliner still on the board.

I am updating the 2nd post with the picks.I agree that Jarvis Jones is the correct pick for Cleveland.

Fisher had a great combine, so perhaps they will view him and Joeckel ahead of Milliner now with his shoulder concern.

I think the Lions address CB in free agency, but it is a need. I like Fisher but Joeckel's experience with better competition makes him a slightly better pick IMO.

Yellowdog, how about;Car pick 1.14 For Cincinnati picks 1.21 & 2.23?

Jones is a perfect fit for Clev.
Very true. Spinal stenosis, being removed from draft boards as a medical red flag. PERFECT for Cleveland. :P
From this morning’s Cleveland Plain Dealer in a story about Jones by Mary Cay Cabbott.
“The nation's leader in sacks (14.5), tackles for a loss (24.5) and forced fumbles (seven), Jones got a favorable report from neck and spine specialist Dr. Craig Brigham, who's examining players at the combine

… If the Browns' doctors deem him healthy, they could have a shot at arguably the draft most explosive edge-rusher, which is one of their highest priorities this off-season. ”

Yeah, Fisher not only had a great combine, but a great Senior Bowl as well. His value has been steadily rising for about a month. He is a better prospect (by the general consensus) now than Millner is. He's neck and neck with Joeckel as perhaps the best player in the draft. Millner, while good, is not in that level IMO.

Arizona Cardinals Select Geno Smith QB, West VirginiaGotta be an upgrade over what they have been trotting out there

Buffalo selects:

WR, Cordarrelle Patterson, Tennessee

Didn't like any of the QBs available and it's no secret Buffalo are looking for someone to pair with Stevie Johnson. High risk player but lot of upside and electric after the catch.

Even though the picks are updated in the second post as Andy has clearly stated I hope no one minds if I update every once in awhile so we can see every pick and who is currently up to select in the ongoing postings so we don't have to scroll back and forth between pages, so here is the updated mock IN-PROGRESS.

I like it. Will be sneaky if it's Buffalo that traded for Alex Smith.

I know, just making a "God hates Cleveland" joke.

I personally don't think Jones played great this season. He's an overrated player without the injury concern.

My thoughts for the Browns selection of Georgia LB Jarvis Jones as the sixth selection of this mock are that the team switched ownership and have Joe Banner as team president and he along with new owner Jimmy Haslan hired head coach Rob Chudzinski who hired Ray Horton as his defensive coordinator. Looking back at the press conference when Chud was hired this is what he said was his defensive philosophy before he hired Horton.Browns new HC Rob Chudzinski said in his first press conference, "We're going to be an attacking style defense.” Chud hired Ray Horton as his DC and this is what he said about Ray’s defense."His pressure packages are outstanding," said Chudzinski. "He brings 'em from all over the place, different guys, but he's still sound in his schemes.”Ray came from Arizona, former Cardinal GM Steve Keim had this to say about Horton’s defensive coaching philosophy/style.“Their defense is going to play fast,” Keim said. “It’s going to be aggressive …”Horton's defenses will blitz, much like LeBeau's in Pittsburgh. At the combine Browns new president Joe Banner said his football philosophy is "about preventing pressure on your quarterback and getting pressure on the opposing team's quarterback. … we wanted to have a more aggressive, attacking defense …Jones lead the nation in, sacks, tackles for loss, forced fumbles. He played outside linebacker and can play any linebacker position."I feel like I’m an impact player,'' said Jones, who didn't work out at the combine. "I make plays. I love the game of football. I’m a great leader. Not so much a vocal leader, but showing. I think I bring versatility to the team. I can play Sam (strong-side) linebacker. I can play Will (weak-side) linebacker. I can play 4-3. I can play a 3-4. I’m just gonna get after you. I’m gonna get after the QB every play.''Basically if he’s there when the Browns select I think he’s the pick. CB Dee Milliner is a fine player but Jones is exactly what the Browns are looking for so long as he clears medical tests which apparently he’s passing.

I think Arizona bypasses the QB at #7 but if they do it's Barkley. Smith works fine though.I'd been playing around with a new mock draft and had Patterson going to the Bills. :thumbup:And "Cordarrelle Patterson from Tennessee" has to be the most two letter combinations in history.

Jets need a dynamic playmaker on both sides of the ball but will address their anemic pass rush and draftOLB/DE Dion Jordan of Oregon.strongly considered Ziggy Ansah but couldn't pass up Jordan

Call me crazy I would have taken Lane Johnson.
I agree with you.

I think it's probably one of these two guys that will be the pick.

In the actual draft I think Warmack goes here, but as he's taken...

Pass D is a critical need, as is OLine. Primary consderations are Millner, Vaccaro, and Cooper.

I think we can address Safety later.

I want to take Cooper here, as the Titans HAVE to get better on the line. But I just can't pass on the best corner in the draft.

1.10 The Tennessee Titans Take DEE MILLINER, CB ALABAMA

Biggest question about Millner is straight line speed. If he answer that question tomorrow with an elite 40 then I can see his stock rising as well. I believe that teams are a little swayed by the financial aspect of their top picks. Good QBs, DEs, OTs and CBs are hard to find and get paid soo much in free agency. It might be part of the reason Guards, Centers, Running Backs, Safeties and inside LBs usually don't go very high.

1.11 San Diego: Lane Johnson, OT - Oklahoma

If only he had a twin brother that we could draft as a package deal with the 11th pick...

Those positions get paid so much because they are so valuable to their teams, which is the same reason they're drafted highly. Although the cost of getting a comparable veteran has to be a factor, this seems like another effect - not the cause.

MIAMI DOLPHINS SELECT BJOERN WERNER \With Patterson off the board, I strongly considered Keenan Allen here. But I believe the Dolphins are going to upgrade their offensive firepower in FA with Jennings, Wallace or both. Also considered a corner here with the possible departure of Sean Smith, but chose to scoop up the falling Werner. Werner's combine numbers were a bit pedestrian but he makes play after play after play. He will fit in perfectly opposite All-Pro Cameron Wake.

Ok fair enough. The Robert Gallery effect has to influence the draft positon of guards as well. I can think of a few bad tackles playing as decent enough guards in the NFL.

Sorry Guys, checked in all weekend and go to work for 8 hours and look what happens ;)I hope my kittens take a lineman, but we will go WR, mark my words.Peace

I am just an overall homer for the state of Michigan, but this kid can go crazy.4. Philadelphia - Eric Fisher, OT - Central MichiganHe is mean, plays like a DT, not an offensive lineman. a good block for him is if you are on the ground and he is on top of you.Coaches say he is smart, sits his butt in the chair in the film room and still wants to learn more.I would trade up if I were the Lions and build a young line around him and ReifPeace

Yea I think Fisher is going to be the best player from this draft class. I would take him over anyone else for the Packers. He's a Kalil-type player that will be good right out of the gate.
