Shark Pool Mock Draft #2 - Let's draft! (1 Viewer)

Colts have a variety of needs - CB, FS, interior OL, pass rush. Trading down and still getting a player of SJB's caliber is great news. He's the last of the great CBs in this draft imo.
Most project him as a safety. He'll be a great safety in the right scheme but I don't see him as a great CB option in this draft, imo.
Fair enough. I think he's a ridiculous athlete and has the skills to succeed in this new era of the big corner.

2.84 - Arizona Cardinals - Billy Turner, OT - North Dakota St.

Changed my mind there. McCarron just doesn't fit what Arians likes in a QB.

They need an upgrade to the right side and Turner, while needing refinement is a fast riser. At the very least he could move inside and be an upgrade there as well.

Plus, NDSU is my alma mater so it's kind of cool to me...

Think either pick would have been fine, although I think ARI almost has to go QB next round now. Better hope someone decent is left because if Carson Palmer disappoints this year it'll be a veryyyyyy long season.

I dunno. What do you think, guys? Tackle or QB?
Think you should stick to your guns and take the OT but be prepared to move up and grab a QB if they start coming off the board since ARI current QB2 and 3 are Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley respectively. Or if you're like me and think Tajh Boyd is a lot better option than what he's rated at currently, he should be there for the Cards in the 4th no problem.

Tackle. None of the remaining QB's have ceilings higher than backups imo. I don't see a Tom Brady in this group. Then again, that's probably what everybody but NE said that year also. . .

Agree that none of the remaining QBs are good value for AZ. This draft is not going to make it 7 rounds at a 1 pick per 14 hour pace. Let's get it moving.

Someone can pinch hit for KC pick coming up. I'm working from a phone and too many picks for me to keep up with the prospects.

Thanks.

Thinking KC goes offensive line
Top 5 KC needs I've seen on various websites in basic order are: WR, TE, S, DL, and LB. Their first rounder was WR so maybe defense this go around, unless Troy Niklas seems like a good fit?

Maybe we should reconsider doing all 7 rounds. Or at least how we approach it. Andy is starting to make quite a few picks. I say we get a count of the people willing to do all 7 rounds and then divide the teams up from there. It might take us 3 or 4 hours to get it sorted out right now but we will make up that time with a couple picks.

Also, let's give the guys who only wanted to do 2 or maybe 3 rounds a chance to leave this madness. Those guys can just let someone know that they're done and we can find a new home for the team.

Don't see TE as an important position this early. Gonna bet they give Kelce a shot there. I'd say Safety or D-Line. Maybe a solid 3-4 DE.

Jackson Jeffcoat, OLB - Texas

I'll assume the doctors gave him a clean bill of health. He's a top-15 talent being discounted because of back-to-back pec injuries in 2011 and 2012. He rehabbed his was to being the Big-10 DPOY. He played 4-3 DE. I think he's best suited at 3-4 OLB. He was primarily an edge rusher, racking up TFL and sacks, but he has high tackle counts as well. Uses leverage with the best of them. Real technician. His dad was a DE for the Cowboys, Jim Jeffcoat.

13 sacks in his last 10 games. At least a half of TFL in 27 of his last 29 games. Kony Ealy has 0 in his last 17. He knows how to hold his rush and when to chase the ball.

Playing DE he had 2 double digit tackle games in his last 3 games to end his career. 7 or more tackles in six games this season. Clowney had none. Neither did Ealy.

He was .1 seconds behind Clowney's 40x, but he blew him away in the three-cone. Low bench numbers(18). You have to wonder if that was because of the pec injury. If not for that red flag he be my top DE/OLB in class arguably. This feels like a steal if he's healthy.

I don't see why the Chiefs need dline help but okay.

3/5 of their offensive line left in free agency.
If you want to change to an OL pick, go ahead. I'm thinking with Tyson Jackson gone in free agency, they could use a solid 3-4 DE. Unless you think Allen Bailey is solid, but I don't. Ferguson also has the ability to play multiple positions across the line and in multiple fronts.

Furthermore, I think Ferguson has a lot of upside and this could look like a steal in a few years.

Certainly, the Chiefs must address their O-line, but they do have some picks remaining.

Any thoughts on where Cincy goes? Maybe a RB? QB?

Could also see them drafting a DT to play alongside Geno.
Actually Cinci is going BPA here, although would have considered OT Billy Turner as well had he not been picked a couple spots earlier. So with the 3.88 pick, the Bengals select:

OG Gabe Jackson, Mississippi State.

2/5 of their starters. But they have 2 tackles already. They do need to address OG, but they lost TJax at DE, and really need to generate pass rush from that position. Their defense is basically a combo of very good players and lots of holes.

They lost Albert, Asamoah, and Schwartz.

Chargers select Phillip Gaines, CB - Rice

Perfect combination of need and value. Hopefully the Verrett/Gaines duo works out better than Sammy Davis and Terrence Kiel from the 2003 draft.

Draft to this point:

1.25 – Jason Verrett, CB

2.57 – Joel Bitonio, OG

3.89 – Phillip Gaines, CB

SEXY!!!

Frick'n frack!

Gaines was the guy I was trying to trade up for. I knew one of the teams in between Green Bay and San Fran would take him.

Darn it. :kicksrock:
