Shark Pool Mock Draft #2 - Let's draft! (1 Viewer)

I don't see why the Chiefs need dline help but okay.

3/5 of their offensive line left in free agency.
2/5 of their starters. But they have 2 tackles already. They do need to address OG, but they lost TJax at DE, and really need to generate pass rush from that position. Their defense is basically a combo of very good players and lots of holes.
They lost Albert, Asamoah, and Schwartz.
Jeff Allen was starting over Asamoah.

3.91 - 2009 Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints select Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU.

Would have liked a QB to groom behind Brees but all the starting talent is gone and we like our QB3 from Tulane more. Going to wait on CB since RB dropoff is steeper.

Going with Hill since we are not likely picking up Ingram's 5th year option and need something else at RB cause Pierre Thomas is probably out after 2014. Big body with deft hands when given the opportunity. Character issues are overblown. Lack of elite speed, but rarely caught from behind by SEC competition.

Strengths

Outstanding size. Good initial quickness -- gets rolling downhill in a hurry. Quick feet for a bigger back. Slashes through holes. Spins off tackles and picks up yards after contact. Shows good hands in limited exposure -- effective short receiver. Productive in a pro-style power offense -- averaged nearly 7 yards per carry as a sophomore.

Weaknesses Average vision and balance. Shows some hip tightness and does not string moves together. Can do a better job running behind his pads between the tackles -- enters the hole upright, negating his ability to move the pile. Gears down to cut laterally and slide to another hole. Average second-level burst. Lacks elite top-end speed to pull away from the pack and can be tracked down before reaching the edge. Was not used extensively as a receiver and did not run a variety of routes. Was contained by Alabama. Has a 29-inch vertical jump. Character, maturity and stability must be investigated thoroughly.

Colts draft update:

83. Stanley Jean Baptiste, CB/S

90. Dakota Dozier, OG

110.

128.

153.

Dozier is a big man and a great athlete. He played LT in college, but moved to OG at the Shrine game and excelled. He should improve a dreadful Colts interior line and give TRich and Luck some room to work.

With pick 3.28 (92) The Carolina Panthers select Cameron Fleming, OT/OG - Stanford

Need lots of help on the o-line this year, and he appears to present some value at this point. Will probably only be used in a rotation this year.

Panthers Picks:

Cyrus Kouandjio, OT - Alabama

Kevin Norwood, WR - Alabama

Martavis Bryant, WR - Clemson

Cameron Fleming, OT/OG - Stanford

3.29 - New England Patriots select Lache Seastrunk, RB

With Shane Vereen being in the last year of his contract, the Pats pick his replacement. Even if Vereen doesn't leave, Bill likes his redundancy at positions.

3.30 (94) - San Francisco - Pierre Desir, CB - Lindenwood

Disappointed to have missed out on Gaines but Desir showed well at his pro day and in the Shrine Game activities. Has good size and looks like a Joe Haden type.

In his latest mock draft, ESPN NFL Draft Analyst Mel Kiper Jr. projected the 6-foot-1, 198 pound Desir to be selected in the second round.

3.31 Denver Broncos select Shane Skov, ILB

With Christian Jones being more of a utility linebacker, the Broncos grab a more traditional middle linebacker here.

With the 97th Pick in the 3rd Round of the 2nd 2014 Annual Shark Pool Mock Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select:

3.97 - Jordan Zumwalt - LB - UCLA

RECAP:

1.15 - CB Darqueze Dennard (MSU)

2nd - WR Jordan Matthews (VANDY)

3.97 - LB Jordan Zumwalt (UCLA)

I'm out after this round....it's just too slow.
We have had 14 picks so far today. I don't think it's moving slow at all.

It's still 2 1/2 weeks until the draft anyway what else is there to do? If we do about 20 picks a day we should get to the end of the 4th by the end of the week.

R3c. Baltimore - Caraun Reid, DT - Princeton

The departure of Arthur Jones is a bad wound. This should perform some triage.

R3c. San Francisco - Marcus Smith, DE - Louisville

I'm not sure if Lemonier is the answer and you have to think that Aldon Smith will be suspended and maybe even off the team. Either way, they can't count on him.

I think the 49ers would be happy with this:

1.20. Brandin Cooks, WR - Oregon St.
2.56. Daquan Jones, DT - PSU
3.61. Terrence Brooks, FS - FSU
4.94. Pierre Desir, CB - Lindenwood
4.co. Marcus Smith, DE - Louisville

#4 Comp The Baltimore Ravens select: Ed Reynolds

Baltimore got their thumper last year but they need a cover guy at safety. Hopefully Reynolds regains his 2012 form where he was above avg. He regressed some last year but fits what Balt needs.

3.96. Minnesota (from Seattle) - Jaylen Watkins, CB - Florida
Sorry, left just before you called on me...that looks like a good pick...would have liked to have Skov but he just went...

4.1 The Texans select Terrance West, RB, Towson

1.1 Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina

2.1 Timmy Jernigan, DT/DE, FSU

3.1 Tom Savage, QB, Pitt

4.1 Terrance West, RB, Towson

Bring on the 4th round. Ought to let the people who stay to the end have 1st pick of teams should we do this again from the beginning.

Okay. We'll see how far this goes...

I'm not going to include the compensatory picks in the numbering so this pick is 4.98.

4.98 - Washington Redskins - C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE - Iowa

Gruden likes his two TE sets. Problem is, past up and comer Jordan Reid, the TE's on the 'Skins roster aren't very good.

Would've liked to take a corner or safety here, but the remaining ones are just role players.
