Shark Pool mock draft - three rounds. Draft started (3 Viewers)

With the 10th pick the New Orleans Saints select

Kenny Phillips - S - Miami

Several holes on D for this team. Was hoping for Keith Rivers. Any of the top corners left would fit here also, but couldn't get excited about any of them.
I know the safety class is weak this year, but is Phillips talented enough to be a top 10 pick?
Is there any players on the D side of the ball left who is?
Wouldn't a CB have been a better choice? Jason David must be replaced immediately.
I agree to an extent but like Andy said CB is pretty deep, I'll hope for one in round 2. Now if it were 6 weeks from now and the corners had seperated themselves a bit and I could pick a clear cut one in that spot I would have gone that way. Which corner would you have gone with and why?

So must Josh Bullocks.Corner, Safety, LB. All big problems. I'll take the Philips pick. Now lets see if The Wick drafts the rest of this based on what the Saints need ( Def. ) or what they'll actually do ( new offensive toy for Peyton ).

You may be correct but I just thought CB was such a screaming need for them. Jenkins has been considered one of the top, if not the top, potential cover corners in this draft and I could see paying a cover corner top 10 money over a safety. You're right, a lot could change by draft time but we're drafting by what we know now. Also, Phillips is not the consensus #1 safety. Mayock has him #2. You're right though, it was a tough decision and Phillips could end up being a stud.

I believe I'm the most ridiculed GM so far :goodposting:

The next 6 weeks should clarify alot of these questions...so much pressure with the fate of 2 franchises depending on me

Andy, I'm going to be stepping out shortly and will out until morning. I kept my list updated through 1.13 if you want to take it from there.

Could go a few ways here, so if someone if looking to trade up, I'm willing to trade down.
Can I interest you in Chad Johnson?
Certainly, but I'm not sure we have the $ to spend and give a 1st round pick.I'd give our 2nd, like Walker cost last year.ETA: oops. that's what I get for not paying attention to the first page. :boxing:

To be honest, if it were me really calling the shots, I'd be very tempted by a 2nd. I just don't see the Bengals doing it.

FYI, offer on table. I'll be out for an hour or so. If the team I PM'd takes the offer, he can pick. If not, I'll pick in an hour or so.

Andy would deem it fair, I believe.

Well, if we're only talking 2nd round picks for C.J. - Jacksonville is willing to give up their 1st.
Look me up when you're on the clock. If there is a player of high interest there for me, I'll be willing to talk. If not, FUBAR's 2nd and his later 3rd might also get it done.

Dallas (me) has thought about moving up. But there are several places I'd be happy to go at 22. Until those are off the table, why pay the price to move up this much?

Announcing a trade:

The Minnesota Vikings trade their 3.11 to the Miami Dolphins for Jason Taylor.

Erasmus James is an injury bust. Kenechi Udeze diagnosed with leukemia. Ray Edwards a suspension risk. Brian Robison serviceable but not special.

This team needed an immediate pass rushing threat and this gives it to them. Yes he's 35 and expensive. But the Vikes pass defense needs this badly.

So we're waiting on either this mystery trade or for FUBAR to come back, right?

I would veto this trade. Miami should bend Minnesota over for Taylor.

Minnesota won't be bent over. Not me nor the real squad. The situation with Udeze does force their hand a bit, but they're not going to overpay for a guy his age and at his price.

Denver (not the real-life Denver, just my Denver team) is making Javon Walker available for a third rounder.
As fellow Vikings fans, had you not traded a 3rd for taylor, you should have jumped all over this as the Vikings GM.
Since I'm GMing both teams in this draft, it didn't seem right. And I don't think Childress would get along too well with Javon Walker.
Good point on the Childress thing and a 3rd for Taylor is still good value IMO, he may be getting up in age but he makes a nice pass rush addition.

Once I leave at 5, I may not check again until late, late tonight. I have a meeting to attend this evening that'll go pretty late.

So don't sit around waiting for me.

sorry about the delay, the errands took longer than anticipated.

1.14 Chicago - Jeff Otah, OT

The Lions have a lot of holes, but I like this guy the best:

Derrick Harvey DE Florida

Hoping a better pass rush means better secondary play.

With the 16th pick the Cardinals select Aqib Talib CB Kansas.

With the move of Rolle to safety priority 1 seems to be corner. I was going to select Harvey here as he is one of the few 3-4 OLB/DE guys available but Detroit snagged him so we'll go Talib.
