*** SHAUN ALEXANDER THREAD *** (1 Viewer)

So a less talented back could win the mvp?
:lmao: Is that a trick question? Of course he can. If he's in the right situation.
LT is the best rb in the league right now,at least he`s playing like it..definetly an mvp year.Peyton manning likewise. Why would these two be in this position???Because they are the best , just like Alexander was last year.If Alexander stayed healthy and did`nt lose some key coggs in the offensive line he would be tearing it up again this season(not to mention that damned madden curse thing :hot: ).

You are losing sight of the fact that I'm only talking about talent. That was the comment I quoted and laughed at.

Further, however, your comparison to LT doesn't really hold weight. LT is quicker, faster, stronger, more elusive, has better balance, has much, MUCH better hands, and is overall much more talented.

It's not really a not on Alexander. A lot of the more talented backs are not as good, or at least haven't been as productive.

Last year??? He won it for a reason....and 1 year later does`nt diminish that fact,he is still one of the best rb`s in the league...whether you like him or not.
What the hell does MVP have to do with anything? Winning MVP (wrongly, I may add) does not automatically make you one of the most talented players at your position. Marvin Harrison could win the receiving title but it wouldn't make him one of the most talented receivers, nor is he.

Who`s avatar????If your referring to mine thats Marvin Hagler, the former middleweight champ.

:fishing:
Not at all. I'd challenge anyone to list me JUST five or six receivers Harrison is less talented than.Heck, I'll give you 10, and I still don't think anyone could give me a list that doesn't exclude someone more talented than him - NOT that it means they're better.

I see your point--but only if you define "talented" to mean "tall." Marvin Harrison is an enormously talented wide receiver who happens to be short.

He doesn't match up in a lot of regards compared to a lot of receivers.Great hands and he runs great routes (which is not a physical talent--perhaps I should've made that part clear, I admit), but is not particularly great in any other area.Another example would be Mario Williams. You won't find many more talented than him, but you'll find a lot more that are better.

Harrison has superb body control and awareness--look at last week's TD. That's probably the #1 thing a top WR needs (see: Rice, Jerry). He's also both fast and quick.

To help those who have been following SA, I suggest starting another thread to discuss WR's... This is SA all the time! Hopefully, we'll hear something new about his injury. Thanks!

They just interviewed SA before the game and he said this week has been the best he's felt since the injury. He said he hopes to practice next week, and should be back for the game the week after (2 weeks) for sure, and maybe next week.

Shaun Alexander is expected to resume practicing Wednesday.

It appears Alexander has finally received medical clearance, just in time for a game against San Francisco. He should play Sunday if his foot holds up during the week. Mike Holmgren confirmed the news at his Wednesday presser and also said that Matt Hasselbeck's status is less certain.

Here's a quote from Mike Holmgren during the press conference about it:

"The crack has healed, he has experienced very little pain. It is my understanding that they are going to let him practice to see how it feels."

Anyone here what happened with the MRI today??? We need you back Shaun (well, I don't actually need him back but it would sure make trading him a hell of a lot easier)

I'm mre interested in knowing how Holmgren has already held his wednesday presser.

Holmgren is just that good...Obviously, Rotoworld struggles with typos.

Alexander expected to practice

There's a good chance RB Shaun Alexander will resume practicing Wednesday, and he could play Sunday if his foot holds up during the week. We'll get the official word from coach Mike Holmgren in about 20 minutes or so. As we suspected last week, QB Matt Hasselbeck still might be a week away from returning. They had said Nov. 19 or Nov. 27 and it's looking like the 27th could be the date. Holmgren should have some details for us shortly. Holmgren noted last week that Alexander did some cutting Thursday and the foot held up OK.

So hold the champagne for now.....

And FYI - in the comments section of the blog someone wrote this:

Here's what it sounds like from the Press Conference:

Shaun will practice as the last step of testing his foot. If he's ok, chances are he'll start in San Fran.

Matt will practice to see how well his knee is healing, however Seneca will get the snaps on Wednesday. Matt probably won't until Thursday.

It sounds as though Shaun has the better chance to play this Sunday, but neither one is guaranteed yet.
Still waiting for a second source, I think.,.....

Yes, but that blurb was updated via Holmgren's press conference (with the much discussed Wednesday typo) in the original post. Holmgren has already confirmed he's cleared to practice on Wednesday and whether he plays will be based on how he practices and responds to practice.

So it is -- got the times mixed up. Woops!

Hallelujah, this couldn't come at a better time.

Several weeks ago I trade Maroney for SA. I thought I got a steal then and still do. I also got Hassleback and then he goes down.

Just this week I traded Rudi & Randy for Portis and Muhammed. You all know what happened yesterday. My remaining RB's are Fred Taylor and MJ Drew.

SO, PLEASE BE TRUE ABOUT SA THIS WEEK!!!

The question I ask my fellow SA owners is will they limit him or is this a full throttle situation. I gueess he has had plenty of "rest"

This brings up the interesting question of "is he an automatic start?"

I traded for him during this down time with the expecation that he and LT would lead me to the title in the playoffs. But FWP has been pretty darn good all year in the system I have him in. I'm not so sure I start SA right away over FWP, which gets us back to:

When do you start SA? Right away? Wait a game to see how he handles it? Etc....

While you're at it, please give us the rosters and schedule of every team in your league.

It's the friggin 49ers........of course you start him. Even if he only gets 60-70 yards, he has as good of a chance at 2 TD as anyone whose name doesn't start with the letter L. Unless that is you think MoMo is signficantly better than the league MVP. He's went for 262 over last two weeks.

During the past MNF game, SA said he has remained in "football shape" the entire time he has been out. Not sure if that means anything. But he stated he was constantly working out but during the time he has had off it gave him more of an opportunity to understand the playbook unlike years past.

:goodposting: The injury did not prevent Alexander from running straight lines. He may not be 100% game speed, but I'll gladly take my chances with his fresh legs and desire to play....ummm hell yea.

Personally I think Shawn is done for this year or at best he'll play but not be a worthy starting fantasy back.
What gives you this idea.. Sound like Seattle is expecting him backby the 22nd game against Minnesota..

You heard different or just a gut feeling it is much worse than expected...
 Still out AND for another week. It never makes sense to say your stud RB will be out the whole season or if he comes back will be ineffective. I still stand by my statement, he's done for the year but if he does come back people will start him and get burned.

He got his feet wet vs SF. I expect him to have a big week vs Green Bay at home next week.

It would be his 1st of the year. GB is 11th vs. the run so they are no patsies. I see no reason to not expect another 20-65 and a 1 td type game.

I was being realistic. What are your projections for this weekend?
