Detroit Lions wide receiver Shaun Bodiford took reps with the first team on Thursday, and also returned some kicks. "They're throwing me in there to see where my knee's at, where my head's at," Bodiford said. "They have confidence in me, and they told me once I realize that I belong in the NFL, I'm going to be a great player, one of the superstars of the NFL. That's what they see in me. So hopefully I can get on this field and show that they're not wrong."

Who is this guy ??

Can he lock down the #2 WR position in this offence ??

Well, this would make my pickup of Furrey worthless I guess.

Can any homers suggest which is the better fantasy WR to own this season to help my WR starved team?

I guess he does not care about the Lions track record on evaluating WR talent..

He showed flashes in preseason. But my guess would be the Lion's staff is saying whatever they can to find a diamond in the rough at this point.

They are throwing every turd against the wall to see if it sticks. Bradford slid down the wall immediately. Furrey has slid to his spot (slot receiver). Drummond will soon join Bradford at the bottom. Bodiford will slide down towards Furrey.

Eventually they will then turn to BMW and try and win some games. Give it time.

He's a special teams gunner, he won't be a FF contributer unless your league counts special teams yards.
:goodposting: He's also undersized and injury prone. He's got potential as a poor-man's (or homeless man's) Dante Hall but he's not going to beat out Furrey or Roy Williams for playing time.

I don't think anyone expects him to beat out Roy Williams for playing time, maybe you meant Mike Williams, and thats where I disagree. As I said before in the Mike Williams thread a couple days ago HERE he Lions staff has liked Bodiford since they signed him as a rookie free agent. Bodiford is the anti-M.Williams, he works hard and is willing to play special teams, he had a knee injury that slowed him down, but I think its unfair to lable him as injury prone already. They obviously like him well enough to let Bradford go and give him a legitimate shot at playing time, now that he's healthy. Here's a few articles on him going back to preseason from the FBGs news blogger.Thursday, Sept. 28

FWIW if TO doesn't play you might want to take a shot on Hurd vs. Ten

Great synopsis. A caller on Sirius asked about Bodiford a few hours ago and Adam Shine (I think) and uh-uh Jerry uh-uh Rice gave almost the same review.

Yes they like him, that's never really been in dispute, but they also like Eddie Drummond, etc. This is not a guy that's going to be the #2 WR for the Lions. At best you're looking at WR #3 and a large contributer on special teams.

UPDATE:

DetroitLions.com reports Detroit Lions WR Shaun Bodiford has been waived from the team.
 Does that mean BMW gets more PT? Scottie Vines close to being back?
