Sherman is a tool (2 Viewers)

Richard Sherman on Pierre Garçon, "Pierre doesn't matter in this league." Asked to clarify, Sherman says "I mean exactly what I said."
This is the sort of thing classless people do and fans of classless people love to champion. He's a classic love/hate guy. Dennis Rodmanesque. Somehow he gets a pass because he's a highly marketable, smart, black man, to be sure, but mostly because he's mastered the fine art of publicity. He's also made sure to really exploit the "poor kid makes good" angle. He'd be welcomed on my football team, but I wouldn't want my kids to be a fan of his.
You do know that Garcon was playing particularly dirty with pulling his hair (OPI) and blatant facemasks, right? Are you sure you have the right "classless" person?

Positive. I couldn't care less what these guys do on the field to get a competitive advantage. It's the incessant off the field nonsense I could do without. I know, I know, I know, he went to Stanford and does charity work. Doesn't mean he's not a ####ty person.

If the roles were switched, nobody would care that garcon was talking. And oh my, would Sherman get roasted for doing what garcon did.
No he wouldn't. Nobody calls attention to Sherman but Sherman.

Check.... Yep, still a tool.
Still a tool and still can't shadow the best reciever on the other team.
Who does today? I keep hearing this but Patrick Peterson doesn't shadow either (and he's getting burned by the #2 and #3).
Patrick Peterson routinely covers the best opposing WR. I'll go look on rewind but he was shadowing Keenan Allen and Crabtree in two of their games that I remember watching. They aren't elite, but they are the #1s.

Here's a PFF article where Peterson (and Revis) lined up

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/09/10/analysis-notebook-week-1-2/

they don't have the same breakdown for weeks 2 and 4 but here's an article from week 3 which was wondering why Joe Haden was having such a rough start to the year.

Richard Sherman remains almost exclusively at left cornerback. Patrick Peterson has now joined him doing the same thing, and Haden is probably the last corner remaining used truly to shadow an opponent’s best weapon in every game.

Sure, it's entirely possible this has changed in week 4 and week 5 but so far the evidence is he is staying on the left side.

Well, maybe not nobody . . .

Can't discuss Sherman in a Sherman thread, now? Man, you people are sensitive. What would you suggest is an acceptable forum, then?

I think it's in the Sherman *%*&$# sucks forum. It's two below the AC and one above the gifs of Chris Berman losing his f*ckin mind.

As long as you're aware Sherman isn't the only one calling attention to Sherman.

I was just watching the video of Steve Smith man handling Sherman to the ground on a block. It brought a smile to my face.

Not sure if this was against Carolina, but that's about all I watched when they last played....Smith physically beating the crap out of him...pretty freakin' funny. That was before all his "look at me!!!!! look at me!!!!!!" shtick though.

Sherman geting embarrassed after he left his comfort spot. No wonder he stays on one side of the field.

Its always sort of hard to know what people mean when they say stuff like this. Is it serious? An attempt to be funny? Maxwell got hurt at the 5:27 mark on an incomplete pass to Bryant. Sherman manned up on Bryant's side exclusively from that point on.

2nd Quarter:

12:18 23 yard completion.

3rd Quarter:

12:18 pass interference call on Sherman (13 yards)

4th Quarter:

11:03 incomplete

10:57 incomplete

6:55 16 yard completion

4:58 incomplete

This is getting embarrassed?

he wasn't embarrassed but he wasn't respected either

By you or by Bryant? Both seemed to acknowledge a significant level of respect for each other after the game. Not sure what you mean.

Sherman wasn't the problem yesterday, I'd go so far as to say he played well. I think you'd have a hard time finding anyone that has played football before making the case that he played poorly. But whatever, this is the internet...

All these guys talking smack about Sherman would be doing back flips of joy if they ever got him on their favorite teams. That's the only truth about his ability we need to look at.

The Cowboys didn't fear him at all, he played well expect when he was plowed over by Murray into the endzone.

Seems to me that Sherman played well. He's not as great as he'd have you think he is, but he's a solid corner in that system. Dallas treated him like they would any top corner on another team - they threw at the weaker CB but weren't afraid to target Sherman's side if the play dictated such.

That doesn't mean he should react like an 8 year old every time someone "disrespects" him on the field.

I'm glad this game happened (not the loss, but rather him shadowing Dez). It's exceptionally clear who the people are who just wanna hate. He got 2 catches for 39 yards on Sherman and a 13 yard PI call on 6 targets.

Yeah, Sherman was owned.

I'll also add that this was after he likely spent the entire week studying for playing just one side.

Sherman did a good job, and far from owned. PC said that the PI call was completely wrong, and the officials admitted that also.

One thing that never gets brought up is the fact that Sherman isn't afraid to tackle RB's. He had some great plays in the run game Sunday.

@evansilva: Notice it's a huge deal whenever Richard Sherman allows a catch while Patrick Peterson coughs up TDs every week. How was that ever a debate?

I dislike him, and that is TOTALLY AWESOME.

what a jackass

when you described it as childish --- I would say that's literally something you'd get from maybe a 10 yr old kid.

edit ps

they lost me on the cardboard cutout bit

This is what happens when you get two Standford graduates that are smarter than your average NFL exec.

well, if sherman doesn't like all these nfl rules I'm sure the cfl would take him

hopefully, the nfl wouldn't go out of business
I have zero problem with him pointing out the NFL's hypocritical actions.

The headphones thing, by the way, i agree with. These players get a short window, careers can end every week, I have no problem with players getting all the endorsements they can and cashing in. The NFL stifling that, in any way, is pretty terrible.

maybe you should think that through a little bit
