Shonn Greene signing with Tennessee (1 Viewer)

Does this knock him out of the top 20 for RBs?

I was thinking this is going to be more like Greene is to Michael Bush as Chris Johnson is to Matt Forte. I think Chis Johnson stays in the top 15, but his top 10 upside is probably limited.

Initially, I didn't think he had anything to worry about. He wasn't getting the goal line work as it was. After seeing how much they paid Greene, however, I think he's more than just slightly better Reynaud.

Anyone who has Jamie Harper stashed on their dynasty roster might be worried now though...

Likely, it means CJ is that much more annoyed about his role when he is pulled for Greene and three yards and a cloud of dust ensues. I thought he would be a better fit in Jax, where he could spell a guy who should be reducing runs through the tackles due to age. I get they needed a banger in TN, he just doesn't do that all too well.

I think CJ can still manage an uptick from last year, with or without Greene. This is the major issues with Tenn as a team in 2012:

Well, graph didn't paste well, but you look at their offense: 19th in passing attempts, 26th in rushes. It culminates in the lowest per game total in plays run. Maybe as they open the playbook and begin to feel more comfortable with Locker, they'll pick it up a notch. Glad to see, as a CJ owner, that they addressed the line by signing Walker and Levitre. Hopefully there will be more balls to go around and the offense can produce better as a whole.

Titans said they sucked in 3rd and short...wanted to fix that...Greene was good in 3rd and short yardage.

But they did overpay.

who are the Jets rolling with at RB this season? Powell? must be looking to draft someone to replace Greene...can't imagine Powell being a 3-down back..

For practical purposes the signing is supposed to Bolster the running game in short yardage situations. The overpaying is a reaction to the games when they needed a back that could run in to the back of the line and push forward for a yard or two when the linemen were sucking. We will see how that works.

Yea, maybe I'm crazy for thinking it, but my position is that anything that helps this offense maintain drives will be good for CJ. They've added Walker and Levitre to their O-Line and Shonn Greene to help move the chains. Unquestionably the first two moves make their blocking for CJ better and as mentioned Greene could help sustain drives. They've also added a couple of pieces to their defense, which needs some serious help.

YEah...seems clear their focus so far is to extend drives and take some pressure off of Locker.

Novel thinking. ;)I think the o-line will be fine. Levitre is a nice pickup to help the weakest part of the offense.

Guessing they also go OL in the draft too.

Sure. Womack would be fine with me if there isn't a top-2 pass rusher there.

He is a strong handcuff if you have Johnson; otherwise, he isn't worth owning. This knocks him down to about RB40 or even lower. He isn't that good to begin with and Tennessee doesn't have a great OL and he will be the backup.

It's the going rate for a better-than-average veteran backup RBs, IMO. I don't see it affecting Johnson much. Maybe similar to Forte and Charles last year when Chicago signed Michael Bush to a 4yr/$14M deal, and KC signed Hillis to a 1yr/$3M deal. Bush did get quite a few TDs early, but Forte was still very productive. Hillis never really did much and Charles had a great year.

I don't own Johnson in any dynasty leagues. Price has always been too high. But if the Greene signing lowers Johnson asking price I might be interested.
