I am interested to hear the stories of the people who answered "yes".

Shtick? Military service? CCW holder? Redneck shenanigans? Other?

When I was very young, a very bad thing happened and my stepfather, who had a restraining order against him, broke into our home. There was a gun in what used to be his bedside table, and I used it to put a bullet in my stepfather's back. The bullet went through him and into my mother, but it made him stop trying to rape and murder her. It's a great story, I know.
You used a gun to protect your mom from getting raped / murdered and you think guns are a bad thing now?

HF maybe I missed something and if you don't want to answer I understand, but you said the bullet hit your mother as well. Did she survive?

When I was younger one of my friends had some sort of Nerf Crossbow thing. It was pretty poorly made and and the string was looser than an SEC sorority girl but someone loaded it with a real metal tip dart one time and shot me in the foot with it hard enough to puncture the skin
The horror

Damn, very sorry you had to go through something like that. You obviously turned out to be a good person though.

Was accidentally shot at when I was young because I didn't know my N-S-E-W directions well. I was in the wrong area. I'll always remember the buzzing sound the bullets made when they were going by and just over my head. When I realized what was happening, I hit the ground and stayed there. Could have been a very bad day for all those involved, especially me. I can't imagine what that's like for military personnel under fire.

Was rabbit hunting with a cousin on my grandpa's farm. I was carrying a .22, and he had a bb-gun. For whatever reason he kept shooting me in the leg with the bb-gun. Wearing insulated coveralls, it was more annoying than painful. After about the 10th time, I spun to shoot the row of hay bails he was walking on just to scare him. At the exact same time he jumped off the bail he was on. I must have missed his leg by 6 inches. The hunt was over. We walked back to the house without saying a word. Stupid kid (me).

I don't think guns in general are a bad thing, and am a staunch supporter of the right to own guns, but I think they are far too unregulated and treated as toys in our society. A gun is not a football, and it shouldn't be bought, sold, handled, owned, regulated, as such. It should be treated at least as significantly as a prescription medication or a motor vehicle, though of course with some differences in the actual mechanisms of regulation.

She did. Of course, try getting out of doing anything for your mother for the rest of her life when she says her #######ed shoulder is hurting because you shot her 30 years ago...

I've always admired what little i know about you. The why is beconing more clear,
Because I shot a man in the back at a young age? It really gets the ladies going, too.
no because you are clearly intelligent and successful and doing well and a lot of folks would have let something like that stop them and you did not that is impressive at least to me and probably others as well

Fixed. And thanks. Not sure how successful or "doing well" I am, but I'm still breathing. I consider those days a win.

:lmao: Not to make light of your past but that's pretty funny. I can see my wife pulling that #### on me 30 years down the line in the same situation.

Yes I have. Although I didn't take the time to identify them I think I hit several and I have reason to believe I killed a couple. I was with the 1st SOW somewhere the government would say we never were and we came under fire. A young man I had come to like was killed next to me. His parents were told it was a training accident. We of course returned fire. Luckily the real badassess showed up and with our numbers advantage the tide quickly turned. We got out as quick as we could. I had sighted down on a couple and well headshots tend to be fatal I saw the round hit. Others I shot at not sure if i hit but I was a pretty good shot in those days so I am assuming I winged them at least.

I find no glory in it. There were no hero's that day IMO. Just a bunch of kids acting out the play someone else called. In the end it was all meaningless. I still dream about it to this day.

Take it from me you don't want to shoot anyone. It ain't like TV.
Have you ever considered going to a psychiatrist? You seem very angry on these forums and maybe that is the reason why.
I don't suffer fools gladly. And I have been that way all my life. So no but thanks for your concern it is appreciated.

I know reading comp isn't your thing, I mean, how could it be with your intellect?

But where did he say they are a bad thing?
