I'm here on site, we're being told to stay in place (which is fine with me as I'm behind security doors). Hope nothing terrible happens. Haven't heard any shots or anything, but I'm way up in the tower.

Can see some folks armed to the teeth from my window. Doesn't feel like a drill (and there was no announcement or typical "EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE" announcement either.

 
Terrible for this to happen here. Nothing nefarious goes on here other than helping the injured. This place is crawling with wounded warriors, people missing limbs, and old vets coming in for check ups. I really hope no one is hurt.

 
Holy hell, stay safe HULK, and hopefully they get this person before anyone is injured.

Yup. A close family friend was a doctor there for 30 years (when it was the naval hospital). My grandmother died at the old Walter Reed. Truly special places.

active or former probably a given. a lot of inpatient ptsd goes on there too. my ex gf's cousin spent a few months.

BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA9) -- A shot was heard at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda and police are now investigating, according to Montgomery County Police.

The shot was heard in the 8900 block of Rockville Pike. Officers have not confirmed initial report of single shot heard, say Montgomery County police officials. They say they are working with federal officers at the scene.

There have been no reports of any victims.

Access is controlled. Can't get past the gate without a common access card or being on an approved visitor list. So, I'd say the odds are fairly high, unless whatever happened went down at the gates. That happened at the Pentagon back when I was there.

 
OMG

Police on my floor, yelling, "LOCK THE DOORS" and "SECURE YOURSELF". Something banged up against the door as well. I'm going to hide under my desk for a bit.

 
Been quiet for a few minutes. Whatever was going on out there must've moved to a different floor. This tower is 20 stories tall, but not particularly wide.

 
They're running the air-raid and shelter in place stuff again now.

Just saw a squad of several armed folks moving tactically around the courtyard out my window.

If this is nothing, I'm going to be pissed. This is super freaky.

 
Currently armed with a ridiculously heavy 3 hole punch for bludgeoning and some scissors for stabbing. I feel like I've brought office supplies to a gun fight imo

 
I'm constantly searching the internet for news on this and I keep seeing pictures of Old Walter Reed. That was BRAC'd into Bethesda Naval Hospital in 2011. Its been Walter Reed National Military Medical Center @ Bethesda Naval for 4 years... get it together news and press!

 
My wife is texting me stuff about not getting involved. She knows me too well as my instincts are to not hide. Not that I would know where to go and have any way of taking on an armed assailant. If I left my office right now I'd probably get shot by the good guys, they seem twitchy when I've seen them.
