Shots Heard @ Walter Reed (Hopefully NOT an Active Shooter) (1 Viewer)

No joke, I just sat down, and now there is a Code Red: Fire in the building and I'm being evacuated again. This is unreal.

So they've completed search of Building 1. Rockville Pike and Jones Bridge Road opened back up for normal traffic flow. Lockdown on base not lifted yet, but outside units (Montgomery County Police) have been given stand down orders.
355 was shut down all that time? oof.

Doesn't Code Red mean someone gets beaten up? They just use this down at Gitmo. You guys need to change your code words.

You're kidding, now they just announced that we're NOT all clear from the code white and to shelter in place.

I'm outside and its hot so :hulksitsunderatree:

This sure seems like a lot of effort just to get out of working today, Hulk. Lick your palms and cough a little IMO

False Alarm. The whole thing started with a 911 call from a # that may or may not have been on the Walter Reed Armed Forces Medical Center grounds at the time. The call reported hearing what sounded like a gunshot. In a floor by floor, room by room search of the Tower building where the gunshot was supposedly heard, no physical evidence was found that a gun had been fired. WRAFMC military security and Montgomery County Police were still on high alert from July 4th, so it was very easy to rally a boatload of them in response, but the response was more precautionary than anything else, and actually probably served as a great training exercise for those folks. Was over in about 4 hours - traffic was flowing smoothly on Rockville Pike by 3 PM...just in time to get jammed up by rush hour!

I'm concerned/suspicious that hulk hasn't posted an update. I'm pulling the bat Hulk signal to get him in here immediately.

I am paying AT&T full price for my four person family plan, does anyone know a better deal?

I hope they won burritos.

From what I hear, the call was made from the 2nd floor of the tower.

It was NOT a good exercise. I personally had a bunch of rifles pointed at me at one point, my client (an O-6) in uniform, had a pistol waved in his face. He also witnessed a doctor in scrubs (who's ID was not displayed) get tackled and cuffed and then let go when they found his ID. There was a ton of confusion, scared people, and the employees here were generally treated as hostile threats. I understand some things are necessary in a situation like this, but it was overboard and some of these guys were WAY too aggressive.

FWIW, my group of 60ish people that work here... 4 are on admin leave as they were too traumatized to come in today. I don't know if that's some folks taking advantage of the system, or if they're for real having PTSD. But given that this place is stocked with vets, many of whom saw some shizz... things could've been handled better.
