The Wire is a must-watch for sure.
I don't rank it as my favorite all-time like a LOT of other people, but it's definitely Top 10.
Have watched it through 4 or 5 times and I'll probably do it a few more.
Well, as the show started like 15 years ago, I've had some time....Isn't that like 80 hours through each time. Are you tied down to a bed?
Shut your wiener holster.Overrated, look for something else
I agree. I recognize how well written and authentic it was and its certainly worth watching at some point, but as pure entertainment value, it doesnt approach the level of GoT, Breaking Bad, etc. etc.Overrated, look for something else
Make sure you watch if before the drug war is over!As somebody who just finished it, I don't think there's a bad time to start The Wire.
Thanks. Sounds like it might not be that great.I am through 4 episodes of the Wire now, it is okay. Hope it gets better. Don't have the urge to watch episode 5 right now and it has been 2 weeks since episode 4.
WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU PEOPLE?I am through 4 episodes of the Wire now, it is okay. Hope it gets better. Don't have the urge to watch episode 5 right now and it has been 2 weeks since episode 4.

I'M SURE THERE'S A "FULLER HOUSE" EPISODE ON OUT THERE FOR YOU.lol. serious wire enthuisasts gonna lose their ####.
On the slow side but that doesn't mean anything bad or good. How's the "pacing"?
It's definitely my favorite show ever but I think it's also hurt by a lot of shows that came after it which people got used to binging through, most of which had a style more conducive to binge watching than The Wire. There's a lot to take in, and I don't think you can automatically appreciate it as much by watching 4 episodes in a row.The Wire is an incredible show. It does have a higher barrier to entry than most, as it has a large cast ( all excellent) and a somewhat complex storyline interweaving everybody. The realism is great, and it requires your attention, but I can understand that it may not be what everybody is looking for.
Well said. It definitely takes some effort to get into the first season, but once you're in it is worth it.The Wire is an incredible show. This is definitely true. As good as The Wire is, it never gave you that "OMG I CANT WAIT UNTIL NEXT WEEK TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS" feeling. It's definitely my favorite show ever but I think it's also hurt by a lot of shows that came after it which people got used to binging through, most of which had a style more conducive to binge watching than The Wire. I know that sounds douchey but I think it's true.
this took far too long.I'M SURE THERE'S A "FULLER HOUSE" EPISODE ON OUT THERE FOR YOU.
The Voice just started. I suggest you seek entertainment there.I am through 4 episodes of the Wire now, it is okay. Hope it gets better. Don't have the urge to watch episode 5 right now and it has been 2 weeks since episode 4.
I was going to suggest California Dreams or Saved By The Bell. The Voice just started. I suggest you seek entertainment there.
brohan just wait until they take the mc over to ireland that is when it gets real strap in brohan this show is right up your alley i predicdt take that to the bankE1 in the books.
Not terrible.
Yea, definitely not that kind of show. It doesn't fit with the more modern concept of "oooh, what happens to character x" and "after-show" talk shows. The Wire is more a slow burn, and when it's finally over, you realize how great it was. GOAT in my mind. Been through it about 4 times, and it still feels fresh.Scoresman said:This is definitely true. Breaking Bad is my favorite series ever. I was told by you guys the Wire is comparable - not close so far. GOT is also a favorite along with Walking Dead. Saved by the Bell was pretty awesome though.eoMMan said:I was going to suggest California Dreams or Saved By The Bell.
