Most events aren't planned...Way to drop a bomb in the upper third. Excellent pick. I would have never predicted that one.

From the first note....
I don't know this song as I think the quality of his work tailed off pretty hard in the past decade. I find it hard to believe, though, that anything can top the strong tunes on Workbook like Brasilia Crossed with Trenton (which slays on title alone) or a half-dozen other gems on that album. I'll listen when my 3-year old isn't so proximate.
Been on a timeout so couldn't reply to this. Great song and this inspired me to spend a morning listening to his catalog again. The dude is just a genius - his lyrics are just so smart.
also love Howling at Nothing and S.O.B.293. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - Wasting Time
Also heavily considered: I Need Never Get Old and You Worry Me.
Could have been any of these three depending on my mood. Tonight it's Wasting Time.
For me, their best is highway star, with space truckin just behind in 2nd. Something about that groove in highway star that just sounds awesome. We have not. We will have to look at that when we sit down to do some planning. We”ve been lucky in that we have a group of “retired” scout leaders who are all BSA certified rappel masters, so we make an annual November rappelling trip to Camp Falling Rock east of Columbus and use the natural cliffs there. It’s an awesome trip, and we are lucky to have those guys around, as well as all the gear (harnesses, helmets, carabiners, rope, 8’s, gloves) to outfit the troop.
Also: really like Hush, but I’d have to go with Space Truckin’, just because my son and I spent the better part of a month randomly turning it on and wailing the really high-pitched part of the chorus at each other whenever we were in the car together.
Great pick. I've probably seen Mould live more than any other artist I can think of. While I love the old stuff plus those Sugar albums, he has put out some really good stuff this decade. Newer stuff is certainly more hit and miss than Workbook, but Voices in My Head is emblematic of new sound. We just need Spotify to post Last Dog and Pony Show
I really like these local discoveries.
This is soooo interesting to me.
All I hear is Coach Steve telling me he's "gonna make sex to a lady" when I hear that now.294. Charles Bradley - Changes
Confession time. I had no idea this was a Black Sabbath tune until @mr. furley started a thread about it.

How does this have only 497 views?975. Leo Sayer - Bells of St. Marys
Pretty nice song for this skinny Richard Simmons lookin' cheeseball.
Not a Ratt fan, but Round and Round and Back For More https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2CsUYAP6AU are good/fun songsBig fan of Ratt mostly due to DeMartini. Ratt's songs are cookie cutter hair metal with little to no substance (not that I'm complaining) but DeMartini has a very distinct guitar sound and style that I still love. I'm getting ready to work out. It's time to ratt and roll this evening.
dude ...I know it's an old album. You weren't even born when it came out, or you were a shuke baby.300. Deep Purple - Hush
Look, I understand how iconic Smoke on the Water is. I just don't think it's that good of a song.
I know Hush is really overplayed also, and I stretched for a contrarian pick like Mandrake Root or Lazy, but Hush is too damn good to ignore.
Love Croce. Just tragic.shuke said:

Would have been a great song even without the talkbox. I know some people think it's a dumb gimmick, but I like the unique sound.
Good callI Got A Name just might be my favorite song of the entire 70s
Best disco song IMO
Very early RHCP were great. Then they just got sucky. This is probably the best song by them once they moved to Suckytown.290. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Breaking the Girl
I really don'y like the Chili Peppers. I can only stand listening to Kiedis for maybe 5 minutes maximum. But I really like this song (as well as My Friends).
Sweet child - in time, you'll see the line..dude ...I know it's an old album. You weren't even born when it came out, or you were a shuke baby.
Both of these songs stomp the #### out of the rest of this list. Fight me.
Highway Star
Space Truckin'
before their bright and bouncy power pop punk stylings they released a tune better than anything by the Pistols or the Clash - a perfect snapshot of the claustrophobic aural nihilism that the original class of British punk tried so hard to convey -- my favorite tune from that entire lot of bands, featuring the 'cocks original lineup
I may concede that their music has not aged well, but BloodSugarSexMagik is a very good album.Very early RHCP were great. Then they just got sucky. This is probably the best song by them once they moved to Suckytown.
Workbook is tough to beat imoGreat pick. I've probably seen Mould live more than any other artist I can think of. I like the clear homage to "Baba O'Riley" at the beginning.
Yeah - I was just wait'n fer you ta comment here - as I knew ya would...before their bright and bouncy power pop punk stylings they released a tune better than anything by the Pistols or the Clash - a perfect snapshot of the claustrophobic aural nihilism that the original class of British punk tried so hard to convey -- my favorite tune from that entire lot of bands, featuring the 'cocks original lineup
ETA: alternate version wif lyrics for MoX
That is sweet - thnx.Vocally, one of the better covers I have heard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5QpqrEFj0o
I've got this bookmarked to watch later - thx.Vocally, one of the better covers I have heard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5QpqrEFj0o
it has been perfecting my morns lo sum 40 years
I don't disagree. But just because Workbook is better, doesn't mean that later stuff is crap.Workbook is tough to beat imo
happened to be browsing your list and came across this gem. I've seen White Buffalo in concert a handful of times in small bars and basements of clubs. These guys are one of the only bands me and my wife both love. we stumbled across them because they had some songs in Sons of Anarchy that we were watching at the time. since then I think I have accumulated every song they have put out. this is the song they've closed out every show I've seen with.
Just gave this a listen. It's a good tune. A bit sterile and expected, especially considering it is coming from Bob Mould. He is just so darn solid, all of his music is listenable. As I mentioned, and not to compare or whine, enjoy Brasilia Crossed with Trenton. Maybe I'm a sucker for songs in 3/4 (or 6/8) time--I tend to overrate them but this one's a keeper. His strained vocals pull at my insides.
Didn’t mean to imply that. I guess I hold a special place for his earlier stuff just like I do for Husker Du. Not so much for his later stuff.I don't disagree. But just because Workbook is better, doesn't mean that later stuff is crap.
"does this mean uh...the popularity of the group is waning?"
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no...no, no, not at all. I, I, I just think that the.. uh.. their appeal is becoming more selective. "
I bought and listened to: Last Dog and Pony Show, Modulate, and Body of Song. Lots of solid stuff on there but nothing that stood out enough to make me want to buy any more. After Sugar and his first three solo albums, I feel like his work leveled off, with Workbook and File Under Easy Listening being his two masterpieces.Didn’t mean to imply that. I guess I hold a special place for his earlier stuff just like I do for Husker Du. Not so much for his later stuff.
It's so fusiony. It's Page McConnell (keyboard player for Phish), Oteil Burbridge (bass player for Dead and Co., Tedeschi Trucks Band, and recent iterations of Allman Bros band), and drummer Bass Russell Batiste.
Partial to Something's Gone Wrong Again, and Ever Fallen In Love?, but mainly just glad to see the Buzzcocks get in the game.
This seems like a leaving the board forever kind of announcement - I hope it wasn't my Buzzcocks comments that were the last straw.Hope to see you guys in person later in life. I’ll leave my email, Twitter, Instagram and Friendster links if you need to reach me.
@Bubba has my info as well.

Also, you shouldn't leave the board forever, I almost always enjoy your posts (can't think of one that I didn't).
