Considering Richard is the genius who came up with the PP algorithm I'd say it's a huge loss to PP. Maybe he got lucky with PP but the way he's presented on the show is that he's capable of many more ideas. A new CEO may be able to develop PP's profitability, which is what the other shareholders want, but he's not coming up with new ideas himself.

Its possible, but having Hooli as an adversary carries more weight than having PP absorbed by Hooli. With Hooli behind PP, it would be difficult to imagine a competitor coming in. You can argue that the stone woman's company will be putting in capital to support PP, but to me, it doesn't carry the same weight. I think that the suggestion previously made where PP fights the sale to stoneface's company is more likely than PP going to Hooli or, PP having tons of money thrown at it by SF.

Re-watching the season as my wife hadn't seen it yet. When Richard and the lawyer are going through the lawsuit brought by Hooli in the second episode, he brings up the hiring of OJ and the non-compete. So to bring this back to True Detective...it was all laid out for you.

Last two episodes were the weakest to date. Writers probably were a little rushed this season. They recycled a few old jokes too and that I would agree is lazy writing.

How many people would be able to do this? I wouldn't.

For one thing, I have no clue what my password is. I'd have to download and install LastPass to get my password, and I'm not sure the bus driver would be cool with me installing software on his phone.

Beyond that, I use two-step verification. So even if I had my password, I wouldn't be able to log in on a new phone without a newly generated verification code that I'd be able to get only from my current phone whose battery is drained.

Sounds beyond complicated, I would hope most people have an easier time than you logging into their own email. I know it's pretty easy for me.

I think another thing about the most recent episode is it's the first one in a little while where things start to look positive for PP (if not for Dinesh). They'd been on a real losing streak (I count Russ as 'loosing') through the first half of the season, everytime it seems like something was going to go their way, it didn't. So it's nice to see them at least seem to come out even or even on top for once (although I don't expect that to last).

And Hooli might be going down? Maybe bighead returns to PP.

and i saw an interview with Mike Judge where he said they had to have them losing because if they kept winning it wasn't funny. i think he said they had to rewrite most of season 2 because of it. successful people just were not funny or relateable

I think a show about a great idea/algorithm that faces a lot of obstacles along the way is the only real viable show. A crummy idea that hit some resistance would be pretty dull and would last...an episode? A great idea that faces no resistance is basically Northern California Entourage with less nudity.

Certainly you don't want them winning every time, but I do think they went a little overboard with the setbacks. It was like 1 step forward, 2 steps back every episode. I don't know, could have been a little more even, I think.

I would suggest that the middle-out, masterbation episode pushed them over the hump.

They are great. My absolute favorite character was Peter Gregory though. Tragic what happened to the actor that played him.

So much socio-political stuff loaded into this, as Judge does. I love it. Hilarious for the first two seasons. I didn't like Idiocracy that much either, nor did I like Extract too much, but this is legit. Watched SE1 in Sept. and SE2 just recently.  

I did watch the credits, though, and Alec Berg writes a lot of this show. Judge acts as producer/writer, but Berg gets an awful lot of writing credit, at least during the second season. 

Also, is T.J. Miller pregnant?   

Regardless, funny stuff. I hope this post isn't the death knell for the 3rd season.  

eta* SE2 had a top notch soundtrack with Run The Jewels's Blockbuster Night; Shirt's Phantom (Redux), which has a great flute loop; and Dizzee Rascal's joint. Great end credit music in each of those episodes. 

Shirt is actually a guy who faked his own NYT press release and fooled a lot of the people on his email list into thinking he'd broken big. Then he did by virtue of a metaphorical sort of Silicon Valley/self-promo rap bubble. Fascinating stuff.

Martin Starr's opening credit picture on that show let you know that Bill was actually its silent and sneaky star. Franco preened and ####ed, Rogen vented, Cardellini was sweet, but Starr killed it in his opening sequence when the credits rolled.
