"All right. What's happening out there?"

"He's winning. I see three of him out there."

"Hit the one in the middle."

"Right! Hit the one in the middle!"

36 and it's IV by a mile. Rocky IV may have been the first movie I ever saw at the theater. I remember being so pumped up the next day in the fourth grade. Kept singing "I live in America!" Agreed that III was cheesy.

Watching Rocky III. Better than I remember but nowhere near IV. Rich Rocky and Pauly are terrible, though. They make Rocky look like he's never boxed before.

That "we can change" speech at the end of IV is one of the most cringe-worthy pieces of film, writing and acting ever...just awful. Not even cheesy awful to where it's good...it's just awful...plain and simple.

I think Rocky 3 will win this by maybe a 2:1 margin (and seems to be), but I would say most of the people picking Rocky 3 will say it is wayyyyyy better, and most of the people picking Rocky 4 will say it's slightly better.

I think 3, by a lot. And I like 4.

They are both classics for different reasons. 3 is just a way better overall movie.

I know this though. When any of the Rocky movies are on, I tend to watch way more of it than I should...........except 5, unless it's at the end.

"This ain't no pie eatin contest"

I have a recurring calendar appointment set up for me to hit the gym at work over lunch. Some days I'm unmotivated or feel too busy to go so I embedded in the reminder a link to the YouTube clip of the training montage from IV.... works every time.

"No Pain! No Pain!"

(Full disclosure... I grew up just outside of Philly)

Sometimes I will fill a giant net with boulders for some tricep pull downs.

Yup. I'm not sure there are proper adjectives in the English language to truly describe that dreck.

Rocky IV is horrible.

Rocky III is awesome.

That scene rivals this one for awful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksBE53CIT8E

Rocky IV was a friggin 90-minute music video! Plus that stupid robot?! And that speech at the end?! Horrible!

Rocky III by a mile!

I enjoyed IV more as a kid, although I did spend the entire summer of '82 riding my BMX bike around town with a Walkman strapped to the handlebars that played "Eye Of The Tiger" on a continuous loop.

Well I picked III but it's weird that as I am flipping channels I can bypass III but always stop on IV. Hypocrite I guess!

Rocky IV is catching up!!

Let's prove Adrian wrong!!

WE CAN WIN!
I took a peek at the pole when you posted this: 120-70. Now it's 124-71. Rocky III is starting to pull away like Rocky passing Apollo on the beach.

III no question for me.

I loved IV too. But I loved Apollo training Rocky. Thought that was great.

Eye of Tiger man!!!

Rocky III on AMC right now. First viewing for my son.

Rockyfest actually. Rocky IV up next.

Yeah. I'm watching it. Hate how they make Rocky look like he's never boxed before when training for the second fight.

In Rocky IV, Rocky is told by his wife at their house that he can't win. Rocky then gets into his car and drives off, and there is this montage as he remembers all of his fights.

Except where is Rocky driving to?
My understanding is that he is looking for either the easy way out or the shortcut home.
Youbjust made me shoot a snot rocket on my girl and nearly choke on a hard candy

You IV people are funny, talking about this cold war ####. If you were older than 12 when III came out, you know that there is no contest here.

Remember he is a slugger and Apollo wanted to teach him, footwork, rhythm, speed, counter and move. Rocky was facing a giy who was stronger and in the first fight far more hungry,

I loved the yin and yang if the second fight in Rocky III. Rocky comes out and looks like Apollo Creed and demoralizes Clubber....then in round two he gets caught and starts getting pounded. Goes back to his iron jaw slugger mentality to get pumped up and then turns in the Apollo switch and take Clubber out in round 3.

So yeah Rocky had no idea how to be a boxer. He was a slugger.

Plus, Lang was too strong for Rocky to just take shot after shot to the face like he could against Apollo, which is why they emphasized speed and quickness. Remember how many times Duke told Apollo to "stick and move" in II? That style requires quickness, something Rocky didn't really have prior to the second Clubber fight.
