Snowmageddon 2022 (2 Viewers)

I still believe that Saturday's storm has the potential for putting down 3 to 6 inches for my area. I believe that high snow ratios will help accomplish this. This, of course, is just my opinion. But here's a fun factoid concerning what may happen Sunday morning:

As the system comes through, winds will howl. We're talking 40+ mph winds possible with this system. Let's say for the sake of argument that we get about 1 to 2 inches of snow during this time. If winds stay that high, and visibility drops to less than 1/4 of a mile, you would see blizzard warnings come out. How can that be with only an inch of snow? Well, you could actually have blizzard conditions without ANY snow falling. People tend to think that heavy snow is what a blizzard is. But depth of snow has absolutely nothing to do with a blizzard. You can have 60 inches of snow and not have a blizzard. And, like I said, you can have no snow, but instead have blowing snow and have a blizzard. Just one example of a misused weather term that's used way too much.

Moving on from the possible "blizzard" on Sunday, the models are still drooling over the Tuesday/Wednesday storm for next week. Euro put down a wide swath of 1+ feet of snow for a lot of the Northeast. Still very far out on this one, and a lot still has to happen or could go wrong. But this may be the one we've been waiting for if you're anywhere south of Boston. Should be a fun one to track.

I just need one.
Euro came back still liking the chances of a decent snow with high snow ratios. At this point, I still think we're in the 3 to 6 range, although 6 may be stretching it. Maybe more like 3 to 5.

:bostonstrong:

Hang tough Bostonians!
We can handle the snow shovelling (especially when someone dug out my car for me by mistake  ) but the rush hour commute taking twice or three times as long everyday really sucks.

Live in GA, and got caught in that #### last year. It's supposed to snow a bit Monday, so I better not get caught again or they'll have to take me out in a straight jacket.

People here in Atlanta are bracing for another smowmageddon around Wednesday. Should be fun.
I think it's supposed to be mostly over before Wednesday. Snow could start as early as Monday morning through Tuesday, but the forecast still isn't very clear at this point. It looks like we will have some kind of wintry precip though. Hoping it's not a bad ice storm like some models have suggested.

Just got in from bringing the puppy out. 12"-14" of new stuff and it's still snowing heavily. The snow is deeper than I've ever seen it here. It's partially covering my front windows and the snow banks are Ginormous!

If you're having an issue with ice dams and need to hire someone to take care of it for you I would suggest you call as soon as possible. I was just talking to my neighbor who a roofing contractor and he's had to triple his crew just to handle all the emergency requests for clearing roofs of ice and snow. He's full out 7 days a week right now.

Got a little windy last night. Wind gust reported up to 70mph. No damage here but we lost power for several hours. Sister lives about 30 miles away and parts of their fence blew up. As in, the stringers are still attached to the 4x4 posts, but the 4x4 posts snapped. :o

Just cleaned off 15 inches here. 25% of the driveway could not be handled by the snow blower (snow banks too high to throw over any more).

After this, if we don't get some melting, the next storm will probably be close to 75% unable to be handled by snow blower.

Just epic, in kind of cool and awful way.

Starting tomorrow, I have to figure out how the oil is going to get delivered. I think I am going to have to hand cut a path out to the backyard. That may take me a week by itself :(

We ended up with about 20". My neighbors who get plowed are having front loaders come in to move the snow around. The neighbors with the smaller snow blowers are struggling getting thru the bankings, and are starting to struggle finding a place to blow the snow. Ice dams are everywhere. My daughter now refers to our state as "New Alaska".

More snow's forecast Tuesday night thru Wed. night.

This sucks . Really can't take this anymore,We got about 16" but its blowing all over the pace with the wind making huge drifts on top of the huge snow banks .

another 3-5" on Tuesday :sadbanana:

Looking like we are finally going to get some in Nashville for the first time in a few years.
Yeah...the snowdome has a nice 4 year streak going.

This started out as an inch or so...and some of it keeps pushing up to higher accumulations tonight and tomorrow (with some ice possible too).

4" would easily cripple this city.

Glad the freezer is stocked with plenty of chicken and beef and other things to thaw and cook so i don't have to get out to the store today.

Im sure the run on bread and milk is crazy today.

Very few plows, curvy, narrow, hilly roads...and a ton of people who have no clue how to drive in it.

A lot worse than you think in place like Tennessee. It's not comparable to Boston but this is a place ill prepared for much snow. There's not as much equipment to fight it. The roads get icy as hell. There are a ton of hills. If you live out in the county and we get 6 inches of snow, most people can forget coming to work. I remember getting 2 inches at rush hour a few years ago in the busiest part of Nashville and it took me over four hours to make it 20 miles home.

Total #### storm in Nashville. Freezing rain and sleet everywhere. Power lines comes down and transformers blowing up. #### this place

Monday night into Tuesday. We might finally get a good one, Sheik.
Yup. Not the monster I wanted, but there's still time, and this will hold me over for now. This weekend is another good chance for a storm, too.

We were talking about snow ratios last week and looking at NOAA's site, they are forecasting some areas to possibly see 45:1 snow ratios! That's insane! For my area, it looks like the ratios should be between 20:1 to 25:1. NWS is staying conservative, but I think this little guy is going to come a little north before it gets here. I think 6 inches of snow is a pretty good guess at this point.

Seems like we're right on the fringe again. Looks like overnight runs has us with a little bit less predicted down from 6 to 8 to 3 to 6.

NWS lowered their totals for some reason, but honestly, I'm not sure why. In fact, a lot of people are asking that same question. Most models stayed the course, or ticked just slightly north, so I don't understand the reasoning to lower totals. Euro came further north.

NWS actually upped their Maximum snowfall totals, but lowered their forecast. I think once the afternoon models run, we'll get a really good idea of totals here. This is a very low potential bust storm, so they should lock in by 2 pm.

We're getting the motherload! More like <_< since I'm on call. Fortunately my "need" to go out to a place 125 miles away tonight right when this all fires up has been postponed. With temps not expected much above freezing (and well below at times) for a few days not expecting this to go away soon.

Someone posted his stuff at accuweather? He hates them...
Who's stuff? Did I do something illegal? Just copied and pasted from the other site.
No, wxrisk (Dave) has a disdain for TWC, Accuweather, Al Roker, most TV mets, etc. Just shocked to see his 1st call map posted on Accuweather. No idea if he did it or someone posted it there.

Oh okay, that was posted in the weather forum and I just copied the link here, I'm just a lurker over there wouldn't even know where to find these maps on the webs!

Whoa, upwards of a foot?! First time I seen that, thanks Sheik.
Keep in mind, that's the maximum amount they predict. Everything would have to work out perfect for us to see those numbers. In other words, we won't see a foot. But what it shows is that there's a lot of wiggle room from their call to the maximum amount. Any shift north will bump our totals up pretty good.
