Snowmageddon 2022 (1 Viewer)

They declared a state of emergency for Alabama yesterday.  I live in HSV.  Cancelled work, school, everything.  It was cold...20s.  not one snow flake.  Lol

So much for a dusting to an inch in Northwest Nassau Long Island. 4 inches since late AM and still going.

Can't think of anywhere in the country where a 30 mile swing east/west affects more people... and with the multiple bodies of water and armpit of land with the Atlantic and Sound jutting out with Long Island, small track changes can totally change things around in a hurry.  The water keeps things closer to 32 degrees while providing additional energy depending upon the storm's track. Just ripe for not knowing wtf will happen.

Same prediction here. We had a winter storm advisory with 1-3 expected. We have about 8 now and they upgraded it to a winter storm warning. Lol

Nassau County Long Island and we got pretty well dumped on.  I was expecting a little snowfall, there's a crapload of snow out there, and it's still coming down.  I'm not looking forward to shoveling.

Wow, I never would have guessed that little.
Though that as well until i looked up the elevation of Boise. 2730 ft. It's surprising how much energy, mountains can take out of a storm for lower elevations.

Had about 4 inches in last two hours.  Hardest I've ever seen it fall. When I left Wednesday am, there was more snow on the ground than I've ever seen here.  Got back this AM and there was easily twice that amount , if not more.  And 3-6 inches again Sunday.  It's crazy.  I've heard this is shattering all records.   Everyone is helping everyone. Pretty awesome to see.

Yeah sometimes you're just in the right pocket of terrain.  I live in a town 10 miles east of Boulder. They average 88 inches we average 35.

yep, Boise is the right pocket of terrain and the rest of Idaho, especially Eastern Idaho hets hammered.

Didn't even hear of a possibility of snow until this morning and even then they said 1-3 inches. It looks like 8 so far and still coming down.

Suffolk county, Stony Brook. They predicted 4-8 inches east of here, with progressively less going west where they predicted 2-4 in Nassau and the city with 1-2.

Actually got a foot.

Good workout - make sure to do it yourself and not pay someone

What conclusion would a deductive logic student make about these statements?
I'm stupid.

Those comments back-to-back just made me think about my old college classes.

No malice intended Thrash.

ETA:  Though I find people who don't generally live in areas that get a lot of snow, say they love the snow.  #### the snow.  I moved south to get away from a bunch of snow.

Totally cool with your comment. It actually made me laugh.

I love fresh snow when it is powdery white.

Wife's from Green Bay, I'm from Boston; we live in DC and enjoy warmer winters. I've always felt that you can visit places with snow and appreciate it.

We will likely move further south when kids are out of HS.

You trying to deprive FBG's of our ibuddy Oats?  He's in no shape to shovel snow for ####s sake.  Pay someone Otis!
F it. I need the exercise. Going out in 15 to brave it.  GB to my GBs if this ends up being my last post, you'll know what went wrong.

We got about 8 but damn it's cold. It's 11 but with wind chill it's 2. Wednesday through Friday this week it's going to be between 49-54.

I got about 1/3 of an inch

Do you guys have snow blowers, or do you shovel?
I'm only in VA, but I do have a lot of snow to move (home then a 5000 square foot parking lot with each storm). Shoveled for years and this was my first with a snow blower (technically an electric snow shovel). Pretty big fan so far. Made 6" much easier. Lightweight and easy to store. I can't afford or store an Ariens. Anything more and a bigger, real, blower would've made more sense.

That's what she said.

Liking how this is shaping up... When I was a kid I loved snow, when I was in my 20's it started to become a headache, now with my own little kids who love the snow, I love it again.

Hoping to see at least 10 inches.

Going to be a tough one for us here outside of DC. It has been 60s-70s for the last couple days, but tonite we (outside of DC in NoVA) are due for between 1 and 4 inches. We may get a delay or maybe a even cancellation.

39 years ago this week was the Blizzard of '78 in Boston. I was in second grade, so missing a week of school in February was awesome. (In addition to our regular February Winter Break - makes a short month even shorter!!) This was a nor'easter that was for all intents and purposes a hurricane. It also struck the shore at the height of a lunar high tide bringing flooding to the shoreline.

The area up outside Boston seems to be reacting like its the spawn of the Blizzard of '78. The cancellation notices have been flying around all day. School for tomorrow has already been cancelled. Nearly 12 hours before even the first flake flies. It reeks of severe over-reaction. I am calling for blue skies and 70 degree tomorrow.  :lmao:

I hate the snow. Booked my tattoo appointment 5 months ago for tomorrow and now I won't be able to make it. Hopefully they can squeeze me in soon.

In SJ right now we have sleet that will be turning to heavy snow in about an hour and continuing throughout the morning. Should be a delightful commute into work.

At least my daughter's school finally wised up and made the late call to cancel school today.

I'm at work. And it was only rain.  I'm sure going home is going to be a mess for me

Now forecasting 12 - 16 in and around Boston, 20 in spots. My wife's red eye from LA last night did not happen, who the #### know when she'll get home.
