Snowmageddon 2022 (1 Viewer)

We also just go schools cancelled for tomorrow which kind of blew my mind. Snow stopped like an hour ago. I guess it’s icier and windier then they thought, and we got more snow than predicted, and they didn’t start plowing roads until now for some reason. Weird. It’s like everyone was caught off guard by this one.
I think they probably waited to plow because, if it was like here, the wind was just blowing everything around anyway. Might as well wait it out.

Its been VERY cold in R.I. over the last couple of days.  It was minus three temperature at the start of my open house this morning.  It finally got up to about fifteen with no wind this afternoon and I was having thoughts of summer it was such an improvement.

FWIW, I would take these ten degree days and minus thirty nights over the eighty five and humid days we see here in the summer.

So I work ~ 37 miles from work as the crow flies.   I live North West from the Shore area.

Holy crap did they get pummeled.   Now I know why they closed up for 2 days.   The roads and amount of snow still about is crazy compared to where I live and we got a decent amount.

The variability in the snowfall in NJ in general was kind of nuts.  Where I was, we barely got enough snow to cover the grass minus drifting...went to dinner at a friend's house on Saturday.  They're literally 15 minutes down the road.  Same county, everything.  They easily had 3-4 inches.  When I went up to work on Friday, they had at least that or more.  Admittedly work is an hour away.  I'm just shocked at the differences in such a close area.

My kids school:

Xmas break - off 7 days.....back 1 day.......2 snow days

Now back today, but have a noon early dismissal due to sleet/freezing rain forecast.

So they've had 1.5 school days since 12/22.

I miss the Sheik and this thread. Is Manhattan going to get hammered tomorrow or not?  Forecasts all over the place.
My sis is flying into Dallas today suppose to head back to NY tomorrow - not looking good at this point for flights but who knows as it seems this could be a situation where 20-30 mile swing means the difference between a dusting and nuisance and a full on mess

Also, if it's any consolation, our nice stretch of 70 degree mostly beautiful spring days will be coming to an end tomorrow as we dip into the upper 50s here in Dallas.

Cant day I miss March and early April as my mind always though it should be warmer than reality would provide.

I thought you live in NYC?

I was on Long Island (close to NYC, in the City all the time, good friends with @Tremendous Upside (RIP) who lived in queens), but moved to Dallas about a year ago. I'll be back up there at some point.

But the late winters are noticeably nicer here. :coffee:
I remembered you and TU were friends.  Didn't realized you moved.  Enjoy the spring, avoid the allergies.

Pretty hilarious how this one was hyped up. Our office was closed and the governor declared a state of emergency.

And at this point, its basically a light dusting. Not sticking at all on the road and I can still see the grass in my yard.

i'm runnin' around the "State of Emergency" atm - down in the Hoboken/JC area -and it's 99% rain

well, that accelerated quickly - if this one has any teeth, this is the start - it has really picked up, especially the wind

It was like that this morning by me but around noon it started sticking on the pavement and now it's getting crazy out there, Snow is pouring down like a heavy rainfall.

Went to get my boy from school early (thanks Mayor #######) and apparently everyone else had the same idea. 45 minutes on line to get him.

2 hours to get from cinnaminon to Brunswick.

Usually takes an hour.

130 was rough

Turnpike was pretty good.

Got home to find my back tire was completly flat.

Took me 2.5 hours , normally 1. To get home.

Power been out since 2.    Weird too half my street has power
