So what to do with Dan Morgan?....... (1 Viewer)

Ok, so I'm in a 16 team league with IDP. I have Dan Morgan on the bench currently due to the latest of his string of career injuries. The problem is, I have a slim bench already with Thurman occupying space. I was wondering what you guys thought, in terms of cutting bait now or waiting a little while.

I continue to hear negatives regarding Morgan's concussions and his condition, and his situation sounds better suited if he were to retire. Plus it seems that the latest info has him at least considering the possibility. I'm just not sure that he will be able to come back and do the things he normally does and also stay healthy at the same time. But I'd also hate to cut him and find out down the road that he does return.

So with this in mind, is it time to go ahead and cut Morgan for a decent replacement? Right now, one of the better LB's available in my league seems to be Thomas Howard. He did real well on Monday night, and it seems that the OAK DEF will be on the field a lot. Is it worth considering adding Howard and having him replace Morgan? Or would looking at Morgan's eventual replacement or a CAR DEF player such as Shaun Williams be more beneficial? Any thoughts on this would be very helpful.

Thanks

You should add Adam Seward, because he'll be starting at MLB for Morgan. Seward had a pretty nice game last week after Morgan had his 50th concussion. Morgan is a tackling machine, but I'd write him off, because he can't stay healthy.

I was just getting ready to edit my post to mention that as well, so thanks for bringing it up. Would the replacement CAR LB be a better bet than Howard, or for that matter another CAR DEF player that could take advantage of the situation, such as Shaun Williams?

I am might do that. In fact, I am picking up Howard in one of my leagues. You wouldn't have to deal with the headache of worrying about Morgan again. I had Morgan last year. In one game, he got a concussion on the first play of the game and after that, I was through with him. He is just too risky.

I would bump up the value of S. Williams. We also need to find out who will replace Morgan because that position is money.

Shop Thurman?Shop Morgan?Morgan hasn't been able to make it through a quarter of play yet this year. He concussed himself this time hitting 204 pound Jerious Norwood. It might be week four or five when he returns this time. Morgan is a much, much better option than Howard if he's on the field, but sheesh. If you can keep him around and not kill your chances at winning a game, you might consider it, but it's really becoming a -EV play at this point.Sorry, having Morgan is ridiculously painful. Wish there was a better plan, but you post suggests you already knew that.

Wow...you guys are fast. I started my post when there was only the original post and you both answered me
:D _________________Jene thanks for the reply. As you stated, this is something that I have fully recognized, lol. I had Morgan last year and was continuously frustrated with his injuries then. I probably should have held on to someone else instead of keeping Morgan, but that's so much easier to say now. I may try to shop him, but I'm betting i can't get much for him due to the recent developments.

True, but even if you trade for a box of donuts think of all the fun you'll have watching somebody else squirm over the health of his noodle.

I took Dan for a walk into the woods today. He wasn't feeling good and didn't really know what was happening at first. Lovingly, I leveled the barrel at his head. He knew it was in his best interest and closed his eyes. I have an empty spot in my heart and on my roster now.

RIP buddy. I owe you one, but I would like my 17th rounder back.

Its time to cut bait. He is too risky to start. If Morgan comes back, he is most likely only another concussion away from retirement, he gets them so easily, it shouldn't take long. For his sake and his family, I hope he retires now.

Raven, do you have room to keep Morgan & pick up someone to play? If so, I'd hold Morgan, hoping he comes back, has a decent game, & then try to trade him asap. I realize that's a gamble - first you have to have room (I know you said thin bench), then DM has to get back on the field, then he has to play well, and then you have to find someone willing to trade for him. Nothing to it, right? :D Otherwise, just turn him loose & forget about it. Or, as Jene said, have fun watching whoever picks him up turn gray. Good luck!

That's disgusting. Why didn't you just drop him off in Bagdad with a target on his chest and an american flag??Or just let him retire.
