so who hires Shanahan? (1 Viewer)

London Fletcher is like 90 why is he still there?

Shanny did fine on offense, like every single Shanny team the defense left a lot to be desired. Thinking Fletcher and Haynesworth were key pieces...cmon. Did they draft a LB or DL? Nah they got cute and tried to turn a DE into an OLB and wound up with a guy that amassed a whopping one tackle this year.

How many WRs did they draft with all-world talent Josh Morgan on board as a key contributor? Zero.

People on these boards could fill needs and draft way better than they do
Fletcher was still there because Shanahan re-signed him, despite declining ability. Shanahan wasn't responsible for Haynesworth, but the WR's you're rightly denigrating were mostly ones he signed. He controlled the personnel.

Not even a whisper of interest in either Shanahan yet, that I can see. Not even a shout out from his pal Schefter to get his name out there.

Why do you say he's not responsible for Haynesworth? There were a zillion run-ins between the two. You mean someone else initiated that signing not him?

Haynesworth was signed (Feb. 2009) before Shanahan was (Jan. 2010). Shanahan inherited a roster with Haynesworth on it.

To me the more interesting question is Kyle's future career path. I think he demonstrated some independent competence in Houston, so I imagine within a year he'll be a QB coach somewhere, and what he does with it will determine future possibilities, with the recent unpleasantness forgotten.

It's probably a moot point, because he would probably never relinquish the personnel control, but as JUST a head coach, I would put money on him to succeed over most of these new hires, whoever they are.

The man can still coach. He is as creative and versatile offensively as any other coach in the league.

It's a shame really.

The goal shouldn't be one guy that has total control and is a great general manager AND a great HC. They goal should be Beatherd and Gibbs.

Have you watched much Redskins football the past four years? Other than one 7-win streak last year, we've been sloppy, undisciplined and predictable, with terrible clock management on top of it and poor in-game adjustments. What about that screams "well-coached"?
