I thought I'd start this cause after this week many of us will visit this site less often. Regardless of what happens in my championship this week I'm going to list what went right and what didn't on my team of my local 12 team ppr redraft.

Current roster:

week 16 starters(still contemplating between MSW and Bush, Vinatieri and Janikowski)

Keys to success in my 12 Team/Keep 3 PPR league: (can''t keep players drafted in the first 6 rounds)

Draftinng Schaub, Andre Johnson, Colsten, Percy Harvin (return yardage league), Owen Daniels (pre-injury)

Moves: trading for Rice pre-season because he was keeper eligible, trading away my next draft for MJD when his owner was pretty much out of the running, grabbing Jermichael Finley to pick up the slack for Daniels going down

Poor Moves: Drafting Westbrook at 2.2, trading away a kept Welker for Reggie Bush after week 2 (oi)

Waiver Picks...weekly matchups.

I play in a 14 team deep league. I have picked up many people throughout the year who are helping me this week: Falcons defense vs. Buffalo, Alex Smith vs. Detroit, Jason Snelling, etc.

My first 2 picks were Brian Westbrook and Clinton Portis. Granted, they definitely didn't help me get to the finals.

 
R Moss, DeSean and Gates were my best picks. Unsung hero of my team was the Eagles ST/D, won me two games I should have lost.

Westbrook as my top dollar pick hurt, but my biggest trade (McFadden and Bowe for Addai week 2), made up for it

Keys to making the championship the last two years, three of the last five, five of the last 11...

1. RBs are the key. Get a good group of them and you will compete ever week and outlast many teams that get decimated by injuries. You don't have to draft 5 RBs to start with, but get about that many quality ones by picking wisely in mid rounds.

2. Play the waiver wire for WRs. Don't waste high draft picks on them as they are unpredictable and don't carry over year to year for the most part.

3. You can draft a decent QB in the mid rounds...no need to waste a first 3 round pick on one.

4. Play matchups if you can (like against K.C.'s "defense") but don't bench your studs.

5. Be willing to take some risks on players. You may start 0-3 but if you follow the rules listed above you'll make up for it in the bye weeks and roll into the playoffs.

It would appear your key WRs had to be drafted in the 3rd and 4th rounds, so really not waiver wire moves for your main WRs. Granted you can grab #3-#4 WRs off the waiver wire if other owners don't outbid you for them,

It would appear your key WRs had to be drafted in the 3rd and 4th rounds, so really not waiver wire moves for your main WRs. Granted you can grab #3-#4 WRs off the waiver wire if other owners don't outbid you for them,

I was trying to give him enough rope to hang himself but Jennings ADP was 23 and Welker's ADP was 35. I couldn't disagree more about waiting on WR if it is a PPR league. A true consistent WR in a PPR is worth as much as a top 10 RB (at least in my league)

Nothing went right for me initially with a few key injuries and losing 4 of my first 6 games (despite a high scoring team).

Trading for Williams and Ryan helped a lot. I gave up Thomas Jones and Big Ben, but got back Williams, Ryan and Shaun Ellis. MSW fell in to my lap after week 2 when I needed a wr due to injury or bye. The only regret is getting Bulluck hurt. Each week I would swap Laurinaitas and Bulluck as my flex depending on matchups.

Key to playoff success? 97% LUCK. 3% having 14 healthy players to start each week.

 
Getting Shaub in the 8th, Rice in the 5th and Austin on the waiver wire got me there. A solid draft to include Gates helped a lot too.

I'll be the first to admit that it's a crapshoot to get thru the playoffs though. Guys that talk about dominating their league year after year are playing in sissy leagues. Our league is very competitive and the best you can do is position yourself in the top half with regularity. After that you just need to get a little lucky.

We've got a guy at work who always bragged about how well he did, after further questioning we found out it was always with free online leagues at ESPN. So we talked him into joining our league. Smoked em.

 
I've only been playing fantasy for three years, but I am in the championship game in both of my money leagues (two out of three years in one, and the first year I've been in the other). In my keeper league with a short bench, the obvious answer is the draft the last year (Peterson, Chris Johnson, Wayne, Rivers, etc). But I was also willing to let go of players and grab good prospects off of waivers before they hit. I dropped Royal and McFadden really early and picked up Austin and Sims-Walker before they blew up (Austin the week before his breakout game). Considering my receiver depth, I also made a good move trading away Ochocinco for Vernon Davis pretty early on when I was desperate for a strong TE. This has built me a very strong team that should be good for a few years.

I would say one of the best pieces of advice is go with the talent and opportunities a player has that you see with your own eyes, and don't just believe in the big name or what they did in one previous season. I'm in some leagues with some short benches, and you kill yourself holding onto players that you keep waiting on when there are some potential breakouts available on waivers. The times I've had less success have been when I have kept a player for too long for whatever reason.

 
I would say the keys would be my WR's I drafted and a few key FA pickups.

The WR's I drafted are White, Driver, and VJax (start 3 WR and TE). For the most part I was getting double digit points (.5 PPR) from each and seemed like early on at least one was having a big week each week. They did tail off a bit down the stretch, but by then I had a large lead in my division and coasted in to winning my division.

The key FA pickups were Mendy, Charles, Vince Young, Alex Smith, Kris Brown, Hou and SF Defense.

The waiver priority resets every week in my league based on reverse order of records. Having the best record in my league most of the year, I knew I would have to anticpate to get good players off the wire. I saw the handwritting on the wall for both Fast Willy and LJ and picked up Mendy and Charles before thay became starters. The rest were not in high demand, but played (or hoping to play) big situational roles for me.

Mendy has played 5 weeks for me due to bye weeks and injuries to SJax and Turner.

Charles was HUGE for me in my playoff win last week.

VY I picked up soley for last weeks matchup. I had struggled all year with Palmer/Ryan QBBC. I picked up VY because Palmer & Ryan both had poor matchups for last week and he came through big for me in my playoff win (although I could have stuck with Palmer).

Kris Brown and Hou defense were both pickups last week and they came through with solid points for me in my playoff win.

I'm hoping that Alex Smith and SF (both were picked up a while back just mainly for this weeks matchup) will contribute to a championship.

 
Our championship is in week 17, but the secret of my success is that I seem to have a knack for finding the gems at WR. That means my drafting style is to be ultra-conservative when picking my RBs. I try to get blue-chippers there.

I keep doing extremely well in grading out WRs. This year I targeted Desean Jackson and got him. I felt Hines Ward would be the better WR in Pittsburgh and that panned out as well. I drafted Eddie Royal a bit high a year ago, but specifically avoided him this year.

Stayed this way all season practically. Highest scoring team in the league, by almost 100 points made the playoffs as a Wild Card 7-7. Now in the finals. That pair of RB's was just to much for most other teams to overcome. between those 2 any given week and Longwell and Favre my opponents had to have above average at best weeks to compete. Been doing this for 17 years and can't remeber a season where outside of bye week fillers, (R. Bush,B Wells,TO,Nicks,) I just left the lineup alone and watched. Did paly the Titans Def week 14, late TD got me over or I would have been out.

 
I'd be willing to bet Aaron Rodgers shows up on more rosters than any other QB playing for a title this year. He was money and was probably the 5th QB off the board.

Waiting on a QB till late 3rd and 5th round in a ten team start 2qb TD/Scoring only league was the hardest thing ever.

Picking up Meachem and J Charles, gave me a late push to the #1 seed.

My #1 pick (1-08) LT2 who sat the pine early in the year, and Keading have me out to an 18 point lead for the big game.

The best thing that happened to me, was just playing again. After the 05 season and over 12 years of FF I burned out and quit all three leagues I was in, and pretty much stopped watching football all together.

I was a late addition to this league, and did very little pre-draft prep. My only goal was to not embarrass myself.

If I end up winning this thing, my buddy's may just kick me out again. lol

 
The key is being lucky ... especially with this lineup ..

RB - J.Harrison, Maroney (what about these ?)

WR - DeShawn, Bryant, Morgan (could be here too with WR2 and WR3?)

TE - Gonzo ( outperform WR2 and WR3?)

K- Hartley (no weather worries ... but all XPs?)

D - Falcons (maybe here vs. BUF at home?)

Yes one thing you always have to admit it takes a lot of luck-the players you pick have to out perform their draft position and stay healthyThat was the case with my team here particularily with my #1 and #2 RBs

The key to my team this year was at least one player every week was a "player", if one or two guys were below par, someone else had a huge day for me. Of course trades also play a huge roll in what I do.

Won the division with a 8-6 record despite having the most points. Johnson, Clark, Charles and Rice easily got me to the Championship game.

KEYS TO SUCCESS: Rice as a 12th round keeper, D.Clark in the 6th, picked up Charles during his bye week in Week 8, playing matchups with two decent defenses.

 
Drafting Steve Smith (NYG) late to be my WR3 behind Moss and Fitz. And then picking up Miles Austin for dirt cheap on the waiver wire in a league full of Cowboy fans. I started Smith weeks 1-6 and Austin 7-15 so my WR3? was far and away the best WR in the league all season.

 
12 Team PPR Dynasty with a 50 Mil cap

1) Aquiring Rodgers and Chris Johnson very cheaply in their first year as starters played a huge roll in my team's success both last year and especially this year.

2) I traded away Romo for Jennings (which didn't pan out), but the move cleared up a lot of cap space which allowed me to buy low on guys like Addai and Ochocinco in the offseason as free agents (which panned out very well). Also got J. Charles in trade for a late first rookie draft pick during the off season.

3) No major injuries to my starters (Westbrook was a WW pick up a few weeks ago).

4) Luck.

 
12 Team Re-Draft League (0.5 for PPR) where I was selecting 12th in a 3rd Round Reverse Serpentine Draft

WHAT WORKED

Drafting Chris Johnson 12th overall (first round)

Drafting Andre Johnson 13th overall (second round)

Drafting Pierre Thomas (fourth round)

Drafting Antonio Gates (fifth round)

Drafting Brandon Marshall (7th round) than trading him for Philip Rivers in Week 10

Drafting Mike Bell (ninth round)

Grabbing Nate Burleson off the waiver wire in Week 1

But the clincher was grabbing Miles Austin off the waiver wire in Week 6. I was 12th overall for the waiver wire priority but nobody touched him because the Cowboys was on BYE and I stashed him on my bench until he proved to be the real goods.

Tashard Choice in Week 3, 4, & 5 helped out alleviate my poor judgment of taking Puny Parker in the 3rd round. That's two years in a row that he burns my roster. He managed top fool me twice. Shame on me.

WHAT DIDN'T

Drafting McNabb (sixth round) - Two years in a row he fools me. Shame on me again.

Drafting Steelers DEF (8th round) - The Fat Crumpler falling on Polamalu's leg in Week 1 made the Steelers DEF marginable at best afterwards. Rolling the Falcons this week.

Dropping Kaeding and grabbing Crosby instead of letting go of Lendale White or Puny Parker to grab a kicker to replace Kaeding's BYE

More good decisions than bad overall considering I'm in the finals this week. So far, with Rivers (21.1 points), Gates (14.9) and CJ (25.4) last night, I'm up 61.4 with Maurice Morris, Pierre Thomas, Andre Johnson, Miles Austin and the Falcons DEF left to play.

I am in Super Bowls in all 3 of my leagues, 2 of them for money. I stand to win $750. I usually perform consistently well in all of my leagues year in and year out.

I wanted to draft Calvin Johnson but settled for Andre Johnson when CJ was taken right in front of me. A guy traded me Austin Miles as a throw in the week before he went off. I started Harrison last week because all my backs were hurt and took down the best team in my league. The computer picked Desean Jackson on auto-pick for me when I was a few seconds late getting my pick in (Willie Parker)

As I look back on my fantasy football season, I can't believe it's already over!

I came in 2nd during the season and got a bye in week 1 of the playoffs in week 14.

I lost in week 15 by 22 pts. going against BigBen, MJD and Jennings. That trio alone scored 96pts.

Players like Fitz, AZ defense, Moreno and P.Thomas played average that week.

More WW transactions byfar than anyone else in my league...not saying the quantity was the key, just tried to play matchups since the team I drafted sucked (Jacobs, Portis, Ant. Gonzalez, Holmes)

Along the way, picked up Austin...hey palyed the biggest part in me goint to the championship.

 
1. Trading for Chris Johnson at his buy week....a buy low for most but the deal of the century seeing I am in a keeper league.

I gave Benson, Driver and Ocho - ALL at their peaks

I recieved CJ, Jennings and Witten all at their bottoms...Witten hasn't surfaced and Jennings has peeked his head a few times but I am hoping he is back next year.

2. A good draft. Rivers, Driver, Benson, Burleson, Eli - all value. Holmes, Moreno, Walter not so much.

3. Sticking with your studs NO MATTER WHAT ie. Holmes, LT and Jennings all year when it just didn't make sense to play them.

I got 65 pts out of Rivers, LT and CJ last night while limiting Kaeding to 6 pat's. LOOKING GOOD BILLY RAY! knock knock!

Having Chris Johnson, Aaron Rodgers, Randy Moss, and Dallas Clark never hurts. Greg Jennings, MSW, Mason, and Meachem helped me run over a lot of owners week to week. RB2 has been a weakness but Bradshaw and Harrison are working out down the stretch for me.

 
What got me there THIS year is what I did last year. I dealt 85 & Ronnie Brown & Turner and many smaller deals stacking up and moving up on '08 1st round. Selected Mendy 1.03, Rice 1.04 and CJ4.24 1.06. In '07 I sold Lee Evans and two 1st round picks for ADP. I made some moves with my RB depth and turned CJ4.24 into Turner and Rivers (to upgrade Palmer as a starter).

(2/3 RB) ADP/Ray/Turner/Mendy/Chester

Trading Mendy away for Chris Johnson certainly helped me from mid-season on. Trading Flacco & M. lewis for Vernon Davis & picking up NO DEF off the WW mid-season also helped me get where I am this week.

Other than that, it's been the guys I kept from last year (Brees & MJD) & drafting decent WRs (Marshall, Roddy, Smith (NYG)) since keeping Calvin didn't help me this year.

Factors that got me to the championship:

1. Drafting Rodgers in Rd 3. I had targeted him for 4, but after someone took Rivers I got spooked and grabbed him earlier than planned. Other than Kaeding, he's the only player I drafted who stayed on my roster all season (I drafted Wells, dropped him a couple times, but ended up with him back on my roster.)

2. Picking up Ricky Williams off the WW. Still can't believe someone dropped him. The following week he scored 3 TDs vs the Saints, which would likely have made him un-droppable. A few weeks after that, Brown broke his foot and Ricky became a true RB1.

3. Picking up Steve Smith North off the WW after week 1.

Factors that nearly derailed my season:

1. Drafting Slaton No. 1. In fact, Wells is the only RB I drafted who's still on my team (Slaton, Lynch, LWashington, JJones)

2. Daniels' injury

3. Drafting Calvin as the second WR off the board, mistakenly assuming Moss had already been taken. (Actually, considering that I'm starting Calvin this weekend, that decision could still end up derailing me.)

4. Drafting Big Ben as my QB2. Getting Ben wasn't in itself a mistake; the problem was that he only started for me one week, I wasn't able to trade him, he would have been available for me in the following round, and, most importantly, taking him when I did cost me one of my top sleepers: Benson.

One factor that seems to have played almost no role was my starting line-up decisions. I've had very few games that were close enough in either direction to have been determined by line-up choices, especially in the past few weeks.

 
Strange year...had some moves work very well...some blow up in my face.

Fortunate moves

-- traded for Ben R. after the first week of the season, just needing another "solid QB" but not knowing he would blow up the way he did, including 500 + yards and 3 TDs in our semi final game.

-- drafted Andre Johnson as the third WR taken behind Moss and Fitzgerald, and then saw him have an awesome season, including catching for almost 200 yards per week during our quarter and semi finals.

-- drafted Owen Daniels as the 6th or 7th TE taken and then watched him lead our league in TE scoring. WHen he went down, picked up FInely and Boss as "plug ins" just as they started to surge toward the end of the year.

-- took a chance on Steven Jackson in the second round and saw him put up first round RB numbers.

Unfortunate occurances

-- got Kevin Smith in the middle rounds and got excellent value from him early in the season, only to see him get injured for the year after our rosters were locked down.

-- selected Matt Forte as my keeper only to watch him bust big time

-- riding the wave of Owen Daniels all year only to lose him for the year.

-- selected TJ Housh as my WR2 only to watch him bust and have had to hustle filling in various WRs throughout the year.

So, I had good luck and bad luck through the year. In the end, I'd say I've had about 3-4 consistent scorers: Ben R., Andre Johnson, TE (most of year), Steven Jackson. As for second tier RBs and WRs as well as flex, I've had to be very creative with fills and so forth. There has been a lot of luck involved of course. Fun season though..
