Somebody list a weakness for Santonio Holmes (1 Viewer)

King of the Jungle

He is fast.

He has good hands.

He is one of the better route runners in the draft.

He put up good stats w/o outstanding QB play.

He outplayed talent on other side (Ginn).

He is not afraid to go over the middle.

Everytime he catches the ball he looks disappointed if he doesn't score.

He blocks well for his size.

Size is not an issue (how many NFL teams would like M Harrison/S Smith on their side)

I am surprised that he is not head and shoulders above everyone else. I would like to know your thoughts on why that is.

I agree and if Greenway, Sims and Cutler are gone by the time the Vikings pick, I hope they take him, assuming he is still there. The guy is GOOD!!

Agreed. IMHO Chad Jackson is overrated. Santonio Holmes is the #1 wide receivers in this draft and it's not even close.

Agreed! Finally someone that knows something. Chad Jackson averaged LESS THAN 9 yards a reception @ UF???

So wait....because a few undersized WRs have overcome that, that means that size isn't an issue anymore? Thats like saying because Brady and Montana didn't have the strongest arms in the world that arm strength isn't even an issue anymore.

With the rules change/enforcement of a couple of years ago making contact after 5 yards illegal, the smaller shiftier guys that can change direction quicker gained an advantage.

Fair question, I may have gotten a little carried away. While watching his highlight vids if he didn't score, he seemed disappointed (like he thought he had a chance to breakaway every time). Pretty lame observation I admit, should have left that out.

I don't think they have overcome anything, nor do I think it is even relative anymore. Out of the top 15 WRs in receiving yards last season, 10 were 6 foot or under. The rule changes have benefited quick WRs that can come out of their breaks with speed. This is not to say that big WRs do not pose as valuable weapons, but I do believe that the size of a WR in todays game means less than it used to. Holmes being 5-11 should not be a negative. Your Brady/Montana example is a weak comparison. Arm strength for a QB is more comparable to speed of a WR. Arm strength for QB and height for a WR do nothing for comparison sake. If you can get open as WR, it does not matter how tall you are.

No offense, but every ounce of legitimacy in your post just went straight out the window. You speak this whole "finally someone that knows something" thing and then speak about something you obviously know NOTHING about.Chad Jackson averaged 23ypc in 2004, the only reason his ypc average was low this past season is because the team lacked a true possession WR so Jackson was forced into the short possession WR role simply because he was more versataile than any of the team's other deep threats (IE Caldwell was a terrible fit for a possession WR role).

Simply put, Jackson was forced into a role that doesn't suit his talents this past year (even though he still caught nearly 90 balls in a struggling offense). Anyone and everyone with more than a lick of knowledge about the WRs this year knows that, so before you go around talking about people who "know something" maybe you should actually learn something about more than the one WR you obviously can't take your eyes off of.

I understand that. That still doesn't mean that being short isn't a disadvantage.

He's undersized and he lacks great playing speed. I don't know if he's considered a very good route runner.
