Someone put out a Missing Report on Pats* fans (1 Viewer)

If you choke away the Super Bowl you lose your right to be in the greatest teams ever conversation.
Do you really think they choked? I don't. New York was the better team last night. They deserved to win in my opinion.J
New York was the better team last night, no doubt. But going 18-0 then losing when you're a 12-point favorite is a choke job, no matter of the details of how it happened.

Right here. Just got back from the game.

As much as the Giants deserved the win with that last drive, the Patriots deserved to lose based on their poor O-line play. In addition, Brady was not sharp...even when he had time downfield. The playcalling on offense was also horrendous.

This isn't meant to be a backhanded compliment in the least, but the Giants really should have beaten NE by more than 3 points. I was amazed that NE drove down and scored a TD at the end. Manning came through when it counted, and had some luck on his side. Scrambling away from the grasp of two defenders and throwing the ball up for grabs, Tyree's catches...good for NY. That's what its all about.
 If Brady completes that pass, we have 47 posters with "pats" somewhere in the username (or "Baby") posting about how he "used his mobility when he needed to and threw it in the only place his receiver could have caught it" or some dribble. C'mon, if you're going to try to come off like your paying a compliment, don't make it so obviously backhanded...and then say it isn't.

It's posts like that that really get the Patri-haters going. Just trying to help.

Lot of this shtick going around today.
Yeah Patriots fan must have missed the memo that the rest of the nation received last night they are not even in that discussion anymore.
Really? They definitely can not be considered the greatest any more, but they certainly are one of the best...possibly even top ten. They broke just about every offensive record you could imagine and won more consecutive games than any other team in history. We all know that winning the SB is what really matters, but that doesn't erase their accomplishments this season.
Okay, we can put them right in there with that Vikings team that set scoring records and didn't win the Super Bowl. How often are they brought up again?
That 1998 Vikings team is often in discussions of top 15 or 20 teams ever.

The Pats were far better than that this year, were they not?
 link?
That team had arguably the most potent offense in NFL history, behind this year's Patriots. I don't see how it's far-fetched to consider them in the top 20.
Can you find a single article, forum topic or anything else that mentions the 1998 Vikings as one of the greatest teams of all time? It shouldn't be too hard a task considering that they "are often in discussion of top 15 or top 20 teams ever".
No, I can't. Did I strike some sort of nerve? If so, I'm sorry...I'm just saying a very good case can be made for it, and that team is brought up often in those discussions. They are one of only four teams to go 15-1 or better in NFL history, and until this year held the record for most points scored. 10 players from that team went to the pro bowl. If that won't convince you, then nothing will.
They'll be remembered as a team that set many offensive records but choked in the big game. Nobody (other than Pats fans) will mention them as one of the greatest teams ever, just as nobody mentions the 98 Vikings as one of the best teams ever.If you choke away the Super Bowl you lose your right to be in the greatest teams ever conversation.
The 2007 Pats can legitimately claim they're top 50 though. After the 42 SB winners, then we can start talking about the 98 Vikings, the 2007 Patriots, the 1983 Redskins, the SBIII Packers team, etc. They're definitely in that mix.

Sure. But the greatest teams ever conversation doesn't go 50 deep IMO.

I dont think the greatest team of all time discussion goes much past 5. Rightly or wrongly, if the Pats win last night, they would be top 5. Now they are certainly not in the discussion.

I agree. 5-10 seems right. NE would have definitely been in the conversation had they won, no doubt about that.

No Maroney=Speed, Bradyfan, Pat Patroit sightings yet....
I posted in a thread last night started by Maroney=Speed congratulating the Giants. I dont see the thread anymore, not sure why it got deleted.
Thanks Bro, not sure why it did either. My guess it had something to do with Giant fans being classy in there team winning the Super Bowl.Just a guess.

Ginats beat Patriots and the "mighty" lost the Superbowl haha. That's all that matters. Everything else is fodder.

Be in it? If they had gone 19-0, they would arguably have been THE discussion. One could hardly have argued that a team that had broken so many offensive records and still had a good defense wasn't. As a Bear's fan, I was rooting for the Giants for that reason too. Basically, my '85 Bears are still now in the discussion thanks to the Giants. :football:

Wow. I don't think I've ever said anything about a NY team that would be considered being "thankful for".

In the "Greatest Team Ever" Thread last week I argued that the Patriots were not the best team of all time; I put them at #4 behind the 1989 49ers, the 85 Bears, and the 78 Steelers. my argument was that an undefeated season was important, but not as important as other factors, such as how you performed in the playoffs. Still, #4 was pretty awesome; I just disputed that they were the best ever.

Now, I think the argument is going too far in the other direction. Make no mistake: this Pats team is a great team, a team that I would favor to beat most of the Superbowl champions in the past several years. Because they lost, they don't get to be #4. However, I would have to put them somewhere in the top ten greatest teams of all time.

Tim-had to throw you a shout and thank you for making this an interesting season on this site. Ive enjoyed much of what youve had to say throughout the year, and I respect your passion as a fan. Im sure I'll go into hibernation mode at some point, so before I did, just wanted to recognize you as a great fan. Keep on keepin' on, man.

We, yes WE, got our asses kicked. I congratulate the Giants, and their fans, on beating the now only one of the greatest teams of all time.

Most of Patriots' nation is in shock, as would be any other fan base in the same situation.

I woke up this morning thinking that it was a horrible dream, and will remember the feeling disappointment for the rest of my life, but they are still my beloved Patriots, and I'll just have a wait a little longer to buy another Championship T-shirt.
:clyde: Enjoy the dissapointment for the rest of your life.
Stay classy
It's Dman, what do you expect? This loser got banned once, now Dman2 needs a swift kick outta here.. :lmao:

What's with empty accusations? Are you a closet Pats fan this is hurt now? You knew the after tha Pats lose this board was going to backlash. Enough with your schtick.

we are all losers here - as much as I detest the Pats I wanted them to win last night. Because of their choke job we all have to suffer and listen to that ###bag Mercury Morris now until he takes his dirt nap.

:grad:

If it weren't for those damn Manning brothers, just think of how many Super Bowls the Patriots would have won by now.

And at their ages, Peyton and Eli could win the next three or four SBs between them. This could turn out very sad for Patriot fans.

This makes me think of what the apprehended villain in Scooby Doo might be saying now: "If it weren't for those meddling Manning brothers, we would have gotten away with it!"

I can't stand the Patriots, but it's called respect. You should try it sometime. I just don't believe in kicking someone while they're down over and over. Dman made his case and took his shots. He didn't need to do it 100 times. If you knew this guy at all you'd know this is how he acts on here. It's what got him banned the 1st time. The kid can't be older than 12.

Twitch-Of all of the Pats fans on this site that I've enjoyed arguing with, you are easily the most insightful and thoughtful. Before you go, I want to ask you one question: on another thread I said I felt sorry for Junior Seau. Several people disagreed with me, and argued that Seau had not been particularly impactful this year as a linebacker. I'm doubting he'll be back, but I would like your opinion: what was Junior's importance with the 2007 Patriots? Was he a hanger-on, or was he important?

How is this ironic?

Two days later, and man does it still feel awesome knowing the Pats were DENIED! I like the way Michael Strahan put it today at the parade in NYC, "we stomped them!"
