So there are a lot of songs that when you really listen to them the story they tell is not so lyrical. Or as suggested in the title perhaps I am overthinking them.

The song that made me think of this today is Hearts All I wanna do is make love to you. Now I am a fan mostly of their older stuff and as a very young man had a bit of a crush on the sisters. Talented women are a weakness for me. Their later stuff which actually made them way more popular not as much. I hate coming off like a hipster but they got super commercial IMO. So to the lyrics:

Starts off fairly innocuous but starts to hint at whats coming. Hitchhiker getting lucky. And love at first sight? As we will see there is no love here on her part.

So we found this hotel
It was a place I knew well
We made magic that night
He did everything right

He brought the woman out of me
Too many times, easily
And in the mornin' when we woke
All I'd left him was a note

So it now seems like this wasn't her first rodeo. A place she knew well? How well? Seems like perhaps there have been many lonely boys in the rain.

Not to mention they seemed to have a great time. Nothing wrong with that. Does she know his name yet? Wonder what she called him in the note?

So she let a guy she didn't know, had never met, doesn't know from Adam's pet cat bareback her multiple times. Congrats to our sperm donor of the day. I'd hit the clinic stat. So where is all this love she was hoping for? Basically I got what I wanted now go away. Strip away the flowery language and this is the same crap women complain about men doing.

Came around the same way? Was he hitchhiking in the rain again? Or was she taking the kid to see mommy's play place? In the video he is still working at the motel. Dudes life came apart over this. Do you think it was his life's goal to run some no-tell motel? Probably not. He was still waiting for her. And now she slaps him with yeah you've had a kid for years that you've never known and whom I have no intentions of ever letting you see. Cause all that love talk was crap. I got a guy and it ain't you. And that little thing you gave me you know the kid? Really that's a small thing right? I wonder does other guy think it's his kid? Did he approve of her not so clinical approach to sperm donations?

Or maybe I am over thinking it.

And girls love this song.

 
Some local DJ similarly broke the song down a couple decades ago. The lyrics and video pretty much tell it like you did. 

 
They had a one night stand that bore a child. They met again but she was with a guy that could not give her a baby but loved the child as his own. Or am I confused?

Yeah it is messed up.  The husband probably doesnt even know.

Needs a follow up song: He took me on Maury and found out he was not the father after I was stupid enough to sing about it on the radio.  

Might not be as catchy with the ladies.

Yeah, the song's pretty much like you've got it. Sounds like she came back to the motel to have another orgasm. He helped her have them "a bit too easily."  And women probably like the song because it's libidinous, and women cheat, too. :shrugs:

I think this story has a happy ending. She shows up at the motel to tell lover boy baby daddy that she is getting a divorce and the kid is his. They live happily ever after on his night manager wages and her alimony and child support. And they plant a forest.

This is why I hate instrumentals. I spend the whole time thinking about how I'm not having to think about any lyrics, and the lack of effort I'm putting forth really gets my goat.
