That's the first thing I thought when I typed that. It's still aged poorly, believe or not. It got worse. One must have been any good at a point in time in order to then not age well

And this is how his death would look if it were done by a barrage of baseballs.Janes Addiction's entire career output.
Honestly can’t think of an album from that decade that has aged better. True story. The entire Dark Side Of The Moon album.
I remember an Eric Carmen video where at about the age of 40 he is riding around with a car full of teenage girls.Lots of weird older songs about young girls. I try to give the benefit of the doubt that the song is written from the perspective of when the singer was a teen themselves. I mean a guy can write a movie or direct a film about teen love so I suppose it’s within reason for a songwriter to have nostalgia for a high school crush. It’s still pretty cringeworthy at times.
I have noticed the same thing. Guitar led music of that era just sounds less old and cheesy.A lot of all the early ‘80s heavy synthesizer music might have aged the worst. Songs like Whip It for example. It sounded new and cool at the time (at least to my 10-year old ears) but it’s hard not to laugh at now.
It's funny, I tend to agree with your take mostly -- but I find myself still listening to BB's instrumental/funk tracks. But by and large, I can do without them rapping. that whiny nasal delivery just doesn't work for me.WTF cares what Rolling Stone thinks? Music is obviously very subjective, if you think the Beasties have aged well more power to you. I think most of their music has aged very poorly.
Rolling Stone blows. It aged so poorly that Rolling Stone named Licensed to Ill the top debut album of all time
I believe I mentioned in an earlier post that I still enjoy their instrumental album. It's funny, I tend to agree with your take mostly -- but I find myself still listening to BB's instrumental/funk tracks. But "The In Sound From Way Out!" is still right on point.
When I say not aged well, I think more of cultural acceptance. Dire Straits is great IMO. Think about it like we wouldn’t call someone the king of rock and roll today if they married a 14 year old girl.Has to have aged somewhat well. I have heard it at least 4 times in the last month on Sirius. Classic and 80s.
That may be true and I hardly listen to them..but I still like hearing a good KISS song when I have been drinking at a party.I will say much of Kiss’s old material.
Was the #### among us kids the ‘70s, but now comes across as pretty campy and formulaic.
I gotcha now...how about this oneWhen I say not aged well, I think more of cultural acceptance. Dire Straits is great IMO. Think about it like we wouldn’t call someone the king of rock and roll today if they married a 14 year old girl.
My kid asked me today "What's a phone book?"Kids today will never know the angst of calling someone and not getting an answer.
Not sure who that is but I was laughing pretty hard picturing Eric CartmanI remember an Eric Carmen video where at about the age of 40 he is riding around with a car full of teenage girls.
Kiss is awful.I will say much of Kiss’s old material.

Can I have some examples because my experience and personal opinion is different.I have noticed the same thing. Guitar led music of that era just sounds less old and cheesy.

Wha?
One key to a long and successful musical career is going by the name of Taco.
Because they're sitting on a giant pile of money. How do the Kiss guys look back and NOT be embarrassed?
Beatnik Roy: How do you sleep at night?Because they're sitting on a giant pile of money.
Pretty much this. I was a big fan in the day. Saw them live 3 times in 2 years. Now I can’t stand them.Janes Addiction's entire career output.
Chronic Town, Murmur, Reckoning...and half of Fables are great. After that I agree.A lot of R.E.M’s catalog didn’t age well.
I thought it was campy then too.I will say much of Kiss’s old material.

But I knew life before I left my nurseryWha?
Fat bottomed girls are in more now than they were back then.
The video for Centerfold has a mid-thirties Peter Wolf prancing around in a high school classroom surrounded by girls all dressed in nightgowns.I remember an Eric Carmen video where at about the age of 40 he is riding around with a car full of teenage girls.
...Been trying to meet you
unsubscribeJK I actually don’t even know one Pixies song. Just know the artsy guy down the hall in the freshman dorm loved them.
Are they as terrible as I imagine?
That song sounds great and totally fits in with the more electronic dance styles that are popular today.
...Been trying to meet you
Hey
Must be a devil between us
Or whores in my head
Whores at my door
Whores in my bed
But hey
Where....have....you...been
If you go, i will surely die
Why is that man yelling at that microphone??
