SP Mock Invitational--5th round? Uh huh....5th round...... (1 Viewer)

Meh.

It's only been an hour.  Maybe he's out getting some strange on this Saturday night.  lol.

I do vote that we skip the picks of people who want to take trade offers while "in a meeting" for an hour, yet they posted 4 times in that same span. :D
"Meh."? Awww.  :kicksrock:  That hurts dawg. Hurts bad.

:D

I'm done for the night. Massraiders has a list from me anyway if he makes his pick. My top two guys on it are still available so I'm good.

Im out for the evening as well (chiefs)

ill check this at 8 am, if its not my pick then, u may have to wait until im done working at 2

1.19 Buffalo Bills select Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis

The Bills will give Taylor every chance to prove he is the long term answer at QB.  He will start this season, and if Lynch does win the job in 2017, the offense can remain the same.  If Taylor does win the job, then Lynch can be moved for a draft pick later.  Bills were not prepared to move a bushel of draft picks for a QB, but if Lynch is going to slide here, a late 1st is a small price to pay.

With the 20th pick in the draft the New York Jets select CB Mackensie Alexander, Clemson.

Todd Bowles needs CBs to run his defense effectively and this kid, despite some reported attitude issues, deserves to come off the board here.

If Lynch would have fell one more spot he would have been the pick here just because the value of the position, but Perhaps it's for the best as Alexander is the "safer" choice and corner is still a very valuable position,

Yeah, I saw the Buffalo pick and thought it was a tough spot for the Jets.  I wasn't sure what they would do.  They are loaded on the D-Line and if the draft players out this way a similar scenario could take place in the draft.  Mac is probably the best pick they could make if the draft unfolds as it has in this mock.

Matt Fancy hasn't checked in since Friday. So I am not sure if we will hear from him today. I sent him a message about his pick being up.

1.21 Washington Redskins-Chris Jones, DE, Miss St.

The Skins most pressing need is probably interior OL, but that can wait.  What cannot wait is getting a versatile end that can rush from over the nose, and play end in the Skins' modified 3-4 defense.  Upside, versatile, big, fast, and no character concerns.

Someone wants to argue for Reed/Robinson/Butler/Nkemdiche, I feel you.  Lots of options for Skins here.  When in doubt, take the pass rusher that doesn't fall out of windows when high on fake weed.

The Norman signing takes CB option off the table.

WAS general manger won't be with us till Monday, as Danny has him polishing the private jet this weekend.  He's going to join us tomorrow, before he has to replace the lifts in all of Mr. Snyder's shoes.

All the picks seem to make sense to me thus far, nothing crazy.  That being said:

No WRs taken yet, 20+ picks in.

Floyd and Spence still there, the edge guys.

A'Shawn Robinson (top 10 lock a few weeks ago) there.

Now clearly the 1st round won't go like this, but all that means is that different surprise talents will be available.  The late 1st is going to see some action I think on Thursday, because I think there will be teams jumping up from the 2nd to get a guy in their top 15, and other teams are going to sit tight, and let a talent fall to them, Newsome-style.  You want to pick out the good late 1st rounders?  Find the guy that doesn't fit a need.  Because that's the guy that was just too good for Team X to pass up.

1.15 The Tennessee Titans select Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama

The depth on the DL has us going in another direction here. The center of this defense needs to be strengthened. This is step 1.
Fwiw, while not the guy I expect them to take I'd be fairly happy with the pick assuming they don't move up.

Very good player, run stuffer. not too good in coverage which is a reason I think he drops further than this but he could develop in that area.

Ideally I would have explored trading down once the trade up option was denied. Unfortunately being the weekend the lack of a collective GM audience likely precluded that.

Texans select A'Sshawn robinson DE (3-4) alabama

with last yer's starter signed away in FA, the texans opt to go for a talented alabama player.  We type more later..did not want to hold up

1.23 Viking select Josh Doctson, WR, TCU

Per Vikes GM.

Vikings get their choice of WRs, and take the guy taller than Coleman, faster than Treadwell, and better hands than Fuller.

1.24 The Cincinnati Bengals select Vernon Butler, DT, Louisiana Tech

With Peko getting up there, an interior DL addition is a need and while this GM never reaches strictly for need, this is an instance where the BPA fits perfectly.

NFL.com:

NFL COMPARISON

 Muhammad Wilkerson

BOTTOM LINE

Athletic interior lineman with long arms and outstanding athleticism that allows him to work on offensive linemen with a combination of power and quickness. Butler has a raw but diverse skillset as a pass rusher that should excite NFL evaluators who see the potential of what he can be with more coaching and experience. With his effort and defensive ball awareness, his ceiling appears to be high with a chance to become a high-level starter for an odd or even front defense.

With pick 1.26 the SEATTLE SEAHAWKS take the redzone threat they thought they were getting with Jimmy Graham.

LAQUON TREADWELL WR OLE MISS

Ravens offering 36, 130, 132 to move back up into the first.

*** Time sensitive. 1 hour from time of post. As I have to go to bed. And of course my player needs to be on the board. ***

Offer still valid after Seahawks pick.

This is exactly what the Steelers needed, IMO.  Don't know if they'd trade to each other, but after doing a lot of mocks for the Steelers I've come to the conclusion that they could adequately fill all of their needs at a better value slot by finding an early 2nd trade partner and adding a pick or two in the mid rounds (since they don't have a 5th this year).

Wouldn't be enough. Not even close.
What would be in your opinion?

According to the draft chart pick 31 is worth 600 points.

Pick 54 is worth 360 points so 240 points to make up the difference.

The average of a 2nd round pick would be pick 48 which is worth 420 points, but since the second round pick is in 2017 discount it by about half and you have a pretty even deal.

Now pick 27 is worth 680 points, so that would be a bit different.

IMO there is zero chance the Seahawks take a WR at this spot. I think it is much more likely they go DL or OL here.

ETA: They still have Graham under contract. Aside from that, they still have Baldwin, who broke out last season, and Lockett, who was very impressive as a rookie last year. They just re-signed Kearse this offseason, and Paul Richardson, who they drafted 45th in 2014, should return from injury.

Ravens offer is off the table due to sleep requirements. Sent my draft list to MR. Good luck to all and please don't draft any players that I like. Thanks in advance.

You're probably right, I just couldn't justify passing on him at that point in the draft.

There were a few better fits available, but I felt Treadwell was the bpa.

I wish I had seen Soulfly's trade offer.

...but it would be nice to see Wilson have a legit redzone receiver.  :D

Packers select Leonard Floyd - OLB Georgia.  The best player available allows Clay Matthews to continue to be used inside and outside.  Eventual replacement for Peppers.

I edited my post to read as follows:

As for your bolded comment, you do realize that Baldwin had 14 TDs last season, right?

I understand Pwingles.

Your reason is much more valid than the "Hey, let me make all of you wait so I can see if someone wants to make a trade in a friggin' mock draft!" people.  :D

It's a mock draft!!!  If you have previously agreed to a trade, fine.  If not, keep it moving.

lol
I think you need to relax.  Or go outside.

Well, looking at previous trades back up into the first I guess I might be wrong. They've been all over the map. I guess the right team might take that offer.

When the Vikings moved up to pick 31 with the Patriots they paid a 2nd a 3rd and 4th that year for the move. I forget what they paid to move up for Bridgewater but it was less than that.

I think two second round picks are a better offer than a 2nd 3rd and 4th but pretty close in value.

So there will likely be a few hour break at this point.

I sent Pwingles a message and trade offer for when he returns.

Here are the deals Spielman made to move back up into the 1st round:

Trade: Baltimore trades pick 29 (640) to the Vikings for picks 35 (550) and 98 (108)

Trade: Vikings trade pick 40 (500) and 108 (78) for to Seattle for pick 32 (590)

Trade: Vikings trade pick 52 (380), 83 (175) , 102 (92), and 229 (2) to New England for pick 29 (640)

The last deal is closer to where the Vikings 2nd round pick is this year (54) than the other two.
