Space Force: Trump directs creation of sixth military branch (1 Viewer)

This story is stupid. Who is surprised that they are using stock uniforms that the armed forces already uses? Wouldn’t it be even more stupid if they were some futuristic star fleet uniforms? These guys will never ever be in space, let alone  need space camo.
This is like Obama’s tan suit. Who cares other than the people that want to point and make fun? And if that’s all it’s good for, it’s just more divisive bs.

You guys laugh, but when Galactus, Eater of Worlds shows up, you’ll be singing a different tune then. “Where’s the space force?”  “Why don’t we have a real space force?”

You'll see.

This is a great post!  I was just thinking the same thing myself the other day.

They all laugh now but in no time they'll be screaming for the space force to come save them.

Vice President Mike Pence has announced that uniformed members of the U.S. Space Force will be called.......Guardians.

And they are using the Star Trek logo as their insignia.  Is there any truth to the rumors that our weapons will be referred to as phasers, blasters, and ray guns?

Can Biden get rid of this ridiculous branch of the military and just transfer the personnel and funding  to the Air Force?

I’m not saying it yes, but apparently the head of Space Force will not be a general or admiral - instead taking the title Star-Lord.
Currently fast-tracking any and all officers with the last name of Kuhn (and especially those with the first name "Rick") to four stars.

The 1967 Outer Space Treaty already prohibits militarization of space. It has been signed by 105 countries, including the U.S., Russia, China, France, Germany, and the UK.

The CCP has never respected that. The problem is the Chinese have been working on their own version of Project Thor for a very long time.

https://militarywatchmagazine.com/article/project-thor-what-america-s-new-rods-from-god-space-based-superweapon-can-do

20 foot tungsten rods with simple directional fins. You could build the simple ordinance and launcher system inside any civil engineering department in any college/university in the world. Not very hard to conceal in a "communication satellite".  There is NO DEFENSE to this kind of attack once it's launched.

Targets won't be military strong points but ports, rail yards, airports, major trucking hubs, financial districts, major training facilities, major food distribution centers, etc, etc. If you wipe out the ports and the trucking, everyone starves and the economy goes into a free fall.

Space X's Zuma Project isn't that hard to figure out accordingly.

This is problem that transcends partisan lines. It doesn't matter who is POTUS. Eventual war with the CCP is inevitable and some of it will be fought in space.

'Rods from God' Weapon System Gets Another Look

Dropping the atomic bombs that essentially forced Japan to end World War II led to a number of weapons and munitions developments. Amongst them was research into the use of a kinetic energy projectile, or basically finding ways to project a really dense piece of metal at ridiculous speeds. This would lead to damage, but without the explosive effects – similar to the Navy’s work with an electromagnetic railgun. However, earlier iterations didn’t focus on generating the velocity. Rather, basic physics could come into play by dropping it from really high in the sky. So, imagine a 2,000-pound tungsten rod dropped from 1,000 miles above the earth. Unlike a bullet, it would actually gain speed as it dropped, eventually hitting its target with power equivalent to an intercontinental ballistic missile, but without the mess of a nuclear weapon. The U.S. actually used a variation of this tactic in Vietnam. These Lazy Dog bombs were small pieces of non-explosive steel fitted with fins. They were dropped by the hundreds and reached speeds of up to 500 MPH in penetrating up to nine inches of concrete. This led to the development of Project Thor, which called for a bundle of 20’ long, 1’ thick rods dropped from high enough that they could reach sound-barrier breaking speeds, and, again avoid the fallout associated with nuclear weapons capable of delivering equivalent damage. So why haven’t these ‘rods from God’ been released. Two main reasons. First the actual weight of the projectile by the time it hits the target is still being debated. Just as large pieces of space junk break up and burn as they fall, the same could happen to these metal projectiles. The other reason – cost. Dropping these hammers from the skies could be 10 times more expensive than equivalent weapons in the arsenal. However, with the commercialization of space taking new steps forward via SpaceX and others, that may not be an issue for long.

"SpaceX lofted the super-secret Zuma spacecraft for the U.S. government tonight (Jan. 7), successfully executing a mission that also featured yet another landing by the first stage of the company's Falcon 9 rocket....

These landings are part of SpaceX's effort to develop fully reusable rockets and spacecraft — technology that company founder and CEO Elon Musk has said will slash the cost of spaceflight. To date, SpaceX has re-flown five of these landed boosters, as well as two of its uncrewed Dragon cargo capsules, which make resupply runs to the International Space Station. (The Falcon 9 that lifted off tonight was brand-new.)

But the main goal of tonight's flight was getting Zuma aloft, so the spacecraft can start going about its business. Just what that business may be is unclear; little has been revealed about the payload.

We do know that aerospace and defense company Northrop Grumman procured Zuma's launch atop a Falcon 9 for the U.S. government — but we don't know which agency will operate the satellite, or if its mission is civilian or military."

Hopefully not the AF, but to the Space Command. https://www.spacecom.mil

Space Force commander fired after comments made on conservative podcast

Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier joined The Steve Gruber show to discuss his new book, "Irresistible Revolution: Marxism's Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military," which alleges that Marxist ideologies are becoming widespread within the armed forces. He expounded on those concerns in the podcast.

"Since taking command as a commander about 10 months ago, I saw what I consider fundamentally incompatible and competing narratives of what America was, is and should be," Lohmeier said. "That wasn't just prolific in social media, or throughout the country during this past year, but it was spreading throughout the United States military. And I had recognized those narratives as being Marxist in nature."

When pressed on what exactly he meant, Lohmeier decried the New York Times 1619 Project, a historical look at how slavery formed America's institutions, as "anti-American."

"Lt. Gen. Stephen Whiting, Space Operations Command commander, relieved Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier of command of the 11th Space Warning Squadron, Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado, May 14, due to loss of trust and confidence in his ability to lead," a Defense Department official told CNN. "This decision was based on public comments made by Lt. Col. Lohmeier in a recent podcast. Lt. Gen. Whiting has initiated a Command Directed Investigation (CDI) on whether these comments constituted prohibited partisan political activity."

Another defense official said the investigation would also look at all elements of rules and policy by which the book was published. It is not clear whether Lohmeier consulted his chain of command before publishing. A blurb about the book on Amazon described it as a "timely and bold contribution from an active-duty Space Force lieutenant colonel who sees the impact of a new-Marxist agenda at the ground level within our armed forces."

I remember when people were criticizing Trump for firing people who weren't "yes" men.  Looks like the Biden Administration has the same philosophy.
