Speculation - Matt Forte to be DEALT to NEW ENGLAND ? (1 Viewer)

Rotoworld.com, writer Evan Silva notes that April is a notorious month for wheeling and dealing in the NFL — there were 18 April trades in 2010.

He also wastes no time in grabbing every Patriot fan's attention:

Forte has done his best to make the organization look bad in repeated ESPN appearances, complaining about his contract status. He was particularly displeased with the Bears' signing of Michael Bush, even though shared rushing attempts could actually work to prolong Forte's career.

Forte is a good back. New GM Phil Emery knows it, or else he wouldn't have slapped Forte with the franchise tag. But the Bears now have a starting-caliber replacement, and can find another on day two of the draft. On the trade market, Forte could fetch a second-round pick and then some.

Evan Silva's Prediction: Matt Forte traded to New England for second and sixth round picks.

Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran hinted that it may be a possibility on Pro Football Talk Live on Tuesday.

Makes sense in some respects, other than I just don't see New England

bringing in a player with such lofty contract demands.

Schefter said outright that both organizations have zero interest.

Adam Schefter ‏ @AdamSchefterRT @ArnDa1anOnly: Have you heard anything about Matt Forte traded to the Pats? ... Just what both teams said this week: no chance of it.
That being said, DO EEEEEEEEEEEEEEET, it doesnt make sense at all (unless he will play for NE for less) but for the love of god make it happen.

This is not a rumor. This is a random talking head's prediction/"hey this would be cool." I think the topic should be renamed.

That isn't a rumor, it's a fantasy football writer's prediction and an insider stating it "may be a possibility" (which isn't a very strong statement and could have been phrased as an answer to a queastion - "it's possible".

What are you, some sort of headline writer?

Here's a good title for your next thread:

"Rumor--Don't bother opening this thread, no facts in here, you can tell because there is a question mark at the end?"

I think New England is anxious to see what Vereen and Ridley do after watching a lot of football from the sidelines. We have seen some flashes of solid production, really believe they will use these guys as a 1-2 punch and will have a lot of open holes with Brady paving the way.

RBs have no weight in the NFL right now...he will stay in Chicago and like it or else he can go flip burgers, really that simple.

Agreed. RBs have a shorter shelf life and can be more easily replaced. I am also interested to see what a healthy Ridley Vereen tandem can do.

Bog down what thread? The one with the misleading title based on a writers speculation with nothing to back it up?His previous thread was "Parcells to coach Saints in 2012?". This isn't the National Enquirer, no idea why he feels the need to title threads that way. Hey, maybe its just me. No big deal.

Some threads are based on news, speculation, opinion. I didn't think it was a major faux pas to start a Parcells to Saints thread in the form of a question. You seem to be the only one who has a problem with it. It's has been all over ESPN the past 2 days.

Anything is possible, but I really doubt this.

Same as above. Is always possible, but my opinion....no chance in hell. Especially not for.more picks than a 2nd rounder and a later pick. When the time comes, he'll be like any other player in the NFL and will do business and be on the field week 1

Didn't he form it as a question? If he had said "Parcells to coach Saints" with a period, then you would have a beef.
