Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (1 Viewer)

Honestly, the angry old men who police threads are far more damaging to this board.  Where were you a few days ago when spoof threads were all over the front page?

FBGs should welcome a new voice, the old posters with substance are largely gone and you're left with a bunch of bitter amateur comedians who's first instincts are to lampoon everything.
Well, eventually they are going to learn that a thread about the latest nothing comment regarding their 8th round steal isn't going to be welcomed.

I find thread police annoying as well, but the 2nd post here is really the truth, as harsh as it may have been.

I'll say this, West and Ware both get the same exact deal in the offseason...why wouldn't it be close to a 50/50 split?

West played with the starters all summer in training camp in in live game action. West played with the back ups and reserves and took very few snaps with the first unit.

I'm not angry at all. I don't think I've ever been legitimately angry at something Ive read on this board. But you are right, we are just a bunch of old "want to be comedians". Please go on and tell us more about how we should welcome you, yet you don't want to conform to the board etiquette that has been naturally advanced over the past 15+ years.

This thread will die or get merged with the other. Not because we don't welcome new guys, but because it's a disaster already.

However, if you'd still like to talk about Spencer Ware, feel free to go over to the other thread that has all the relevant and most recent information.

This post reminds me of a time when this guy Kelvin Benjamin came back from an ACL tear and the news leading up to the game was that he was going to have a reduced role and be eased back in.  21 PPR points into his first game I realized I had been misinformed.

Coaches say a lot of things, some true, some not so true.  Being coy helps them keep their opponent guessing.  They don't care if it drives us fantasy nerds nuts.  Media guesses at a lot of things, sometimes right, sometimes wrong.  I know we live in the social media age of up to the second updates, but let's try not to overreact to every piece of information.

If you think about this logically, Ware had the most work in the preseason and started most games.  You can't base your opinion solely on that fact though.  Charles was injured, West was injured too.  Reid says they will be used in different personnel packages.  So start Ware this week as you were going to and if you get screwed by West's involvement, don't start Ware next week.  You can't predict everything.  Gotta let some things just unfold naturally.

One game is still only one game. I don't think Benjamin falls off a cliff, but stranger things have happened.

But [West's] no more of a problem to Ware's production than McKinnon is to Peterson's.
LOL. I like Spencer Ware. I do. I own him on one of my two teams and will mostly likely start him on Sunday. But based on West's usage and production last year, this quote is laughable. West's been hurt all preseason and all you Ware truthers have taken that to mean that Ware will get 75% of the touches when the real bullets fly. If West is still hobbled, then yes, I think Ware will be used in an AP capacity. But if West is near 100%, I think Ware gets 60-65% of the touches, at best. And if game flow works against Ware (the Chiefs fall well behind on the scoreboard), or if he sputters or fumbles, it could be a lot less. This is a fluid situation and West is no bum.

Care to remind everyone of your thoughts on Manziel all last season?  You might not want to throw 'being wrong' in peoples' faces.  :bye:
I never made any predictions for Manziel, only that Pettine was clown shoes handling the situation.

Lolol when both were healthy Ware came in and worked all 3 downs with the starters.

AP/McKinnon not a terrible analogy under the circumstances. Ware is a really good inside runner and could demand volume with good play.. and he's looked dominant..This is in a Charlesless vacuum of course.

We had a Charlesless vacuum for the last half of last season. It was nowhere near a Peterson/McKinnon split in those games. In fact, West got the majority of touches whenever he was healthy.

Milkman's three series in the first preseason game this year (1/3 of which went to West!) notwithstanding, Reid showed a preference for West early on after Jamaal's injury last year and later on, after West got hurt too and Ware performed, when eventually both were healthy again, it was a near even split.

Again, I like Ware. And I think he could ascend to the status the Ware truthers have given him. But he's not there yet. And West is definitely a legit risk factor to all these grand plans. As is Charles, until his body is officially cold.

Sounds like gamesmanship on Reid's part to keep the Chargers guessing.

No doubt West will get touches, but the way Ware has been playing in preseason and last year, I can't imagine that it will be a true timeshare.

I owned West last year.  Helped me to the SB. I so wanted him to be the guy.  Looks like more of a Charles replacement.  But I admitted as the year went on Ware simply outplayed him and was better.  Ware had a great camp, made huge strides, got active in the passing game, looked phenomenal all pre-season - I honestly don't think much has changed.  Ware will have to be efficient though as it's going to be a split - just don't know how much.  Ware is a better start than Charles this week, can somebody at least give us that?

This is true - there is a gap, but not that much of a gap.....

This is the correct way to approach this.

I don't doubt West will touch the ball but I'm pretty positive that Reid's comments on the backfield are just coach-speak. The mere fact that Knile Davis was tossed into the conversation is proof of this IMO. The entire SD organization probably   at the notion.

What advantage does it give SD if Reid doesn't truthfully announce his RB plans?
Ware/West have different skill sets. Teams may game plan differently depending on which they expect to see more of, who knows. The advantage would likely be marginal regardless.

More importantly what advantage does it give KC to reveal their RB plans to SD? There's essentially zero upside in being completely honest.

On paper, Ware is for sure the better start over West this week (how can you not favor him to score more points this week, even though he may ultimately not). Reid's latest split backfield statements did not change that.

The important question, the answer to which might have changed based on the last day of Reid speak, is whether or not Ware is a better start this week than the other RB2/Flex players on our rosters. I doubt very many of us drafted Ware to be our RB2 or even Flex.

And all though West isn't a bum he's not anything special either.
This ones for you milkboy, Footballguys view: Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West will split the work in this great matchup. Ware was running well ahead of West this summer, but West was listed first on the depth chart this week. Ware's 19-148-2 stat line in two games against the Chargers last year makes him the better play and possible fantasy RB2, although West deserves flex consideration in PPR leagues.

Can't wait for the game cupcake. Ware's breaking out. West will get 5-10 touches and maybe get Ware some water if he needs it.

^^^ BUT, BUT, BUT Ware outsnapped West in the three preseason series they played together this year!!!

Save it. We'll know how Reid really feels once these two play an extended time together when both are healthy. But by then Jesus Charles might be back to eat all the porridge.

Ware should be fine in my opinion....When Charles comes back I think he will eat into West time...till then ware should get the chunk of play...just my gut feeling of course.

Alright all you FFAers, back to your forum.  Let's go.  They're trying to talk football here, not blow #### at each other about who's wrong and who's right.

Sorry OP.  The calendar turn to September and these guys get all antsy in their pantsy.
