Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (1 Viewer)

:goodposting:

  There is no ####### way this is true
It WAS true... back in March. Currently there is absolutely no truth to this at all, and I'll tell you why. I have both Charles and Ware on my team... no way anything this great would happen to me. :D

Going to have to agree with this guy. Please stop derailing the thread.
I don't necessarily agree here.   Opposing opinions and points of views are something that are helpful to player threads like this.  However--those opinions should be backed up by stats or at least some sort of opinion that has some sort of fundamental merit.  To Ware--the biggest elephant in the room is the upcoming return of Charles and the shaky qb play of Smith.   Ware does not have a fumbling problem.  The top 10 NFL running backs fumbled on average of once every 88.6 offensive touches last season.   Ware had his first fumble on his 111th career offensive touch.   If anything--up to this point--Ware's history of ball security would be an argument FOR how great he is-- as it's certainly not supportive of a contrary opinion.

From anyone who watched the game last week, was Ware's lower production due more to the game script or was it the missing guards, or both?

I hate to bench relevant KC starters at home, especially RB's.  Michael is ranked ahead of Ware this week, but man it's tough for me to pull the trigger on that one..

Ugh, same here man... I am debating between Sims vs Ware, both at home, both against good defenses.

I feel like, even though Ware has a tough matchup this week, it might be wise to run with him based off of his recent production. The other options are relatively unknown as starters right now.

For what its worth, in one league (1PPR) I'm starting Sims over him. I just really like Sims' floor due to the fact that I think he sees ~20 touches tomorrow with a quarter of them being receptions. Reid could totally bone us again and give Ware 10 touches. Of course, Ware could go for 100 yards and a score on those 10 touches but since his volume is up in the air I think its a given that he has a lower floor. I'm starting Ware everywhere else.

Sorry, don't mean to derail but would you start Ware over Maclin in the flex spot?

How do you think tomorrow will pan out for KC?

SSND can speak for himself but I just want to emphasize on paper that Maclin has a good match up but the question is always which Alex Smith shows up. Because if Alex Smith has success and finds Maclin enough to loosed the defense up then Ware is likely to have a big game as well. It all work together.

The Bills put 31 up Week 2, Cinci 23 in Week 1, small sample but teams are avg about 26-27 points a game, KC figures to hit 20 I would hope.

If one does well the other will too IMO. If Smith is having an off day though you can be sure KC will try and run the ball. With Marshall out I expect the Jets to look different on offense. Decker has been nursing an injury in practice and Enunwa was beaten up pretty good last week. I think KC will have a few answers for the Jets.

Interesting choice you have.

In terms of NYJ's defense, what are they better against, The Run or The Pass?

I have been using that site a lot lately. I think you will find it very useful. You can hit the QB/RB/WR/TE and it will show you what each is allowing at the position. It's not the end all but it's a decent measuring stick now that we have a couple games in the books.

If you have been following the Jets you might have read up on Revis who seems to be falling off a cliff. Jets are stingy vs opposing RBs in terms of FF points, they are in the top 10 which is not good obviously for Ware but I think he will push that avg down a little not up.

Maclin has a good match up if you trust Alex Smith

Firing him up today. If you aren't confident in the run game against NYJ, be confident that Ware will get it done in the passing game. Among RBs over these 2 weeks he is tied for 5th in targets, tied for 6th in receptions, and 1st in receiving yards. Add in him being 11th in rushing, I feel good about him even in a bad match up. You don't bench your studs

Kinda thought Charles would be practicing with the ones and not the scout team this week.  Looks like Ware is staying in my lineup.  I think regardless of opponent he remains a must start unless you got a top 5 rb to play over him.  Miller, williams, d. Johnson type
Freeman @ the Saints subs in for Ware this week.  David Johnson is a must start at the Bills.

Thanks for the link. I haven't watched closely any Jets games this year, but their Fantasy Points Allowed to RBs isn't that suffocating. They are only 2 points per game better than Cleveland (15th ranked). Ware is a top 15 start this week if Charles is out.

And because you had the information you could make a reasonable comparison and arrive that the Jets are maybe avg and not a juggernaut. Good post, I like how you utilized the information.

Does anyone have an update on the Chiefs starting guards that missed last week? Will they be back this week?
"New York’s high-pressuring defense could potentially be an even greater challenge for the Chiefs this week, as they will be without starting left guard  Parker Ehinger , as he deals with a concussion and foot injury, and backup guard  Jah Reid , as he deals with knee and ankle injuries. Starting right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif  is questionable with a lingering high-ankle sprain."

Benching Ware for DJohnson, Melvin Gordon, and Demarco Murray (flex) and not feeling great about it. The missing OL for KC were the deciding factor for me.

It's like people feel if Ware doesn't have a good rushing performance he can't be a factor in the game?
Ware has shown some fine receiving skills but he is splitting time with West. Ware needs to be efficient. Ware only has 10 more offensive snaps than West so far this year.

It seems people in here don't think he can be a factor without being unsustainably efficient. It's like they don't realize he's one of the best GL backs in the league as well.

This is true.  He could have a very bad day and still save his line with 1 or 2 short scores

Feels like I have options where I know I have guys who will get more carries and I am not relying on him popping a long run or Smith paying attention to him.

Right now...he sits in Standard behind Lacy, maybe McCoy, Kelvin B, and Fitz

PPR he is behind McCoy, and Riddick for now...and would possibly start Sims over him as well.

Now that Charles is confirmed out--I think that Ware is probably a top 15 play in both standard and ppr formats this week.  The thing is that the rb situation this week has led to a dynamic where there might be some unusual options that could also be top 15 plays this week.   For example--in one of my ppr leagues--I have Vereen who I too think could be a top 15 guy in ppr with Jennings out--and who has a more favorable matchup--so I wouldn't be surprised if Ware isn't that "insta-start" for everybody.  I'm personally debating between him and Vereen.

Thanks for the link MOP

I'm leaving Ware on the bench this week in favor of Ingram (who has yet to do anything) & Forte

I have decided to start Marvin over him this week.  Will probably flip flop a couple times though in the next hour.  and then pick the wrong one.

Thinking I have to go CMike over him.  And I love me some Ware.  Some splits with West, tough run D, O-Line a bit nicked up, and some potential weather that may slow down the passing game.

Ya I would too Judge.  CM will get literally every touch out of the backfield as well.  Could be his chance to take it over.

I am going to bench Ware for either Drake or Washington. I just see this KC game being a defensive battle--16-10 type game with there being a lot of punts and FGs.
