Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (2 Viewers)

Tough game for Ware tonight in real football, but the end totals were not too bad for fantasy.

As a Charles and Ware owner I appreciate the few good weeks Ware gave me and look forward to starting Charles with confidence after the bye.

Bye week this week...but future outlook, is Ware worth holding onto with a short bench?  I only have 3 spots available and Ware is consuming one of those.  His ball security issues and the lingering threat of Charles has me considering dropping him to help shore up another spot (WR or TE).  Anyone else in this situation?  Thoughts?

would obviously depend on your roster and whats available on the wire

Anyone else think Charles looked......limpy?....gimpy?....out there on Sunday night?  Definitely looked to be not fully recovered, or at the very least extremely tentative while on the field.

Would it be smart to trade Ware for Eric Decker to the Charles owner in my league? Thinking about offering it. I'm already pretty loaded at RB with Lamar Miller, Jordan Howard, Christine Michael, Lat Murray and I just picked up BIlal Powell today. I'm a little thin at WR with Evans, Hopkins, Pyror and Moncrief who is currently hurt.

I don't think the wet field conditions did him any favors

Are you not caught up on Decker's injury issues?  There's been some talk of him possibly going on IR I believe.  I'm not sure if that's true or not but a shoulder injury for a WR that could come down on it with any catch and tackle isn't a good thing to be dealing with.

Last I heard was that it should only be a few weeks at most, and it was just a long shot for him to play this week. Yikes, thanks for the heads up.

The info out there just seems wishy-washy.  It could be a few weeks or possibly season ending or that IR thing where maybe he can come back.

Charles owner here wondering if I should make a push for getting Ware before we see how carries are split.  Once a healthy Charles plays, the unknown is gone...

Ware owner here and thinking the same thing but in the opposite direction.  Should I make a push to trade away Ware given his fumbles and the unknown becoming known next week

Charles owner here, I've waited this long, I'll wait till Charles has a big game (hoping that happens and assuming it will), that's when I will try and trade for him. If it goes the opposite direction so be it...

Looks like I shoulda started CJ. Won my game week despite the bad choice. I see he has some easy match-ups coming up and Charles isn't a factor at this point.
Same, I retaught myself again this season to always start your studs(for the 100th time) luckily I won despite that as well. Up coming match ups look fine but at this point we have no idea how this back field is going to look. Ware did himself 0 favors by constantly putting the ball on the ground. The only thing Ware has going for him as of now is the that IMO Charles looked tentative running the ball.

If Charles comes back and looks good after the bye I'm afraid Ware is only going to be at best a handcuff. It will be interesting to see how healthy Charles looks coming out of the bye.

All that said Ware is a strong hold until we see how this plays out.

1
he's had a spate of fumble-itis but he's hardly a poster boy for it. 445 carries in college and pro before having his first one suggests this is something of an anomaly.

I think he's a hold and can still produce rb2 numbers with Charles active.  The whole team was #### last week and the week before he lost a bs fumble that should have been a td

Dropped in one league holding in two others. His value is trending down but the schedule looks inviting. The fumbles are a concern. His value will rise if Charles comes out and reinsures himself. Not one to Hope a player gets hurt. Deep stable at RB in the league I dropped him and someone cut MBennett so I made the move to bolster TE spot

No way I'm cutting.  Fumbles from a producing RB don't faze Reid.  Charles has dropped the ball on the turf plenty and is right back out there.  Anybody that cuts Ware before they see Charles in dominating form is nuts....

Fantastic work there, Andrew.  I'm not hoping for it, but I' not going to be surprised at all if JC is Arian 2.0 and is right back on the shelf.  Difference is it's Ware not Ajayi.  Worth holding for a few weeks to see if JC's soft tissue can hold up.

I dropped ware, he was picked up immediately when waivers cleared, as expected. We have very short benches and I need a starting WR this week. He's valuable to those w/o starters with injuries.

I drafted Ware (12 team redraft).  The wildcard team in our league who had JC dropped him...so I snagged him surprisingly easily.  Ether my league is lame or I wasted a pickup.  Probably both.

Wow. I don't see how it could be a wasted pickup.

I had ware rostered in two leagues but had to drop him in one where we have shallow benches. I have so many players on bye and I really didn't want a 0 in my lineup so I had to cut him.  I hope I can get him back as I have a strong suspicion that he'll be very fantasy relevant again later this season.

Hoping to trade Ware and another WR for buy low candidate D. Hopkins. Can't think of a better scenario for maximizing Ware's value.

Same ...  I have a feeling he'll be the Hightower or DeWill 2.0

I agree with holding Ware. Yes, the fumbles bother me but the bye week may help him get his concentration back. I just don't feel worried about Jamal so much. The big thing to me is the next four or five weeks look like a pass catchers dream schedule for Ware. We all know Alex Smith likes the short to intermediate passing game. Andy Reid is going to need him to catch 7 passes a game against the next four or five teams due to their high powered offenses and weak pass defenses. They did that against San Diego and they will need to go back to that imho in order to win. This is my main reason for keeping him, on top of a gut feeling, that Jamal isn't going to be the old Jamal again any time soon.

So here we go. I own both Ware and JC. While it's tempting to think JC and his high end #s you drafted him for, Ware is still the play until we see differently right?

Remember a few years back when Charles completely blew up against the Raiders? He scored 4 or 5 Tds that day IIRC.

That same defense is still giving up a ton of production to opposing offenses. I could see both backs being fantasy relevant this week.

I recall clearly.  Ff p#ayoffs and won people titles that day. However, that was a long time ago.  Going to be very hard to choose one for owners. I still think Charles will be very valuable at the end of the season but it is going to take some patience.

Just a note, I love JC and I hope he comes back stronger/faster/better than ever, but I think it serves us well to remember that running back -- probably more so than any other position in the NFL -- is a "cliff-drop" position. Very few RBs see a gradual deterioration of skills where they put 1,400 yds one year, then slow to 1,200 yards the next, then 1,000 then ___. When they drop, they plummet.

JC might come back and be awesome, but there is a very real possibility that at his age and coming off another season-ending injury, he just isn't the same guy. If that's the case, we're likely to see a 2-3 game experiment by the coaching staff to give JC carries and see if he's "back". If he doesn't prove it in that time, then odds are Ware will be the primary RB the remainder of the season (barring continued fumbling in which case it reverts to West).

Not pimping Ware or devaluing JC, just adding my  :2cents:  on the reality of RB decline in the sport.
