Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (3 Viewers)

Ware is not living up to potential weekly top 5 projections. He isn't living up to expectations, simple.

He had 2 carries inside the 5 yard line on s the same drive 4th quarter and didn't strike gold vs a giving defense to date...

Just be honest, nobody in here is personally responsible. Owners are disappointed. Some might have other options for flex spots.

So he can win an argument nobody made?
He's probably referring to me. I haven't seen the snap counts but Ware did have the lion share of the carries today, so I was wrong about that. But It didn't seem to help him. Another bad game vs a perfect game script setup and at home vs a poor run D. Its concerning moving forward. Ware is probably going to cost me the game this week. But really does it make a difference> Ware scored 9 and West scored 7 in my league. I don't get your argument? What was your point? That he carried the load and still sucked vs and easy defense, or that he split the points with West in a  43/57 split?  I guess you made your point?

Tampa is not an easy defense.

West isn't the problem. Ware isn't either. The offense sucks all of a sudden.

Ranked 7th easiest vs RB position in my PPR league.
If you look at the stats at FO or just raw stats at PFR, they rank around the middle of the pack.

I don't think I would want Ware in a PPR league. Apparently the only plays he is allowed to run are up the middle behind C or G.

Lopsided time of possession and total plays run. It was more than just Ware.

With that being said...SIGH!! It just kills me of the overall "averageness" of so many coaches in this league that just seem to over think things (or completely fail to think).  I look around and think things like "IF some of these teams (like KC) would use their best players like Pittsburgh does, like Arizona does, like Dallas does...heck, even Rex Ryan knows the show runs through Shady", things would be so much easier for teams with talent.

I don't think he's a JAG by a long shot.  But to be fair, it's SO much on utilization. For instance, Devonta Freeman and Jay Ajayi and Alan Hurns are 3 guys that pop into my head who were prototypical JAGS...until they were utilized differently.  That's the problem here.  You can say this for a lot of players but Ware, certainly, is a guy who IF you put in Dallas instead of Zeke or you put him New England instead of Blount, then he'd likely be much more effective.

We have seen that Ware can get the job done. We just don't know why some weeks Reid seems to completely forget that he can be used in the passing game..Or completely forgets that you could run him a lot.  It's not unique to Ware but I think (my opinion) that Ware is every bit as talented as many players in the league).

First and goal from 4  they don't go to him once. Got back down there again went to him on first and second down. Stuffed.  He's got to punch that in for us.

I'd say it's fair to call him a RB2 w upside. But I don't think it's bc of a talent question. Just like Lamar Miller, the offensive coordinators fail to utilize both in the passing game despite their proven usefulness  and call the same up the gut runs over and over and over.

But again, all we care about are fantasy points so it doesn't matter about the excuses unless you play dynasty. Otherwise, adjust weekly expectations accordingly.

The blocking really got blown up on that last play.

Reid's utilization is mind boggling. The guy was a sizeable threat in the passing game early in the year and is averaging just about 5 ypc. And yet, totally uncommitted to the run. 17 carries today is nice but the redzone usage is disturbing to me. There were a few times where I couldn't believe they were passing without even giving the run a chance on the goal line. Got to agee, RB2 with upside, there's no way around it.

There are just some coaches, for whatever reason, are very good at assembling competitive teams and win enough to stay relevant, but you just feel will never win a championship. The only season I remember Andy Reid taking the reins off his offense was first season with T.O in Philly. Outside of that he is perfectly comfortable getting that last possession of the game and down by a few points. At times he even seems to coach it that way. Getting too cute with his play calling, going way too conservative at times, and seems to get in clock trouble all the time.

They should have pounded Ware on that first possession inside the 5 (instead of that cutesy TE sweep). Where was the screen game today? Too many 3rd & 1, 3rd & 2 that they just could not convert. Also, why he has hitched his wagon to Alex Smith is puzzling to me.

In a game that was decided by less than a field goal, I don't understand how he only had 17 touches when he was averaging 4-5 yards per carry. I would say this about ANY running back. There just aren't many teams in the NFL that are committed to running the football anymore. Everyone is scared of 3rd down.

Exactly. And this is Andy Reid, 1990's West Coast offense mentality... "Why run it for 4 yards when you can pass it for 3 and the WR might break it all the way." If it doesn't work out, punt it away and play defense.

He coached the Eagles exactly the same way. Ultra-conservative, week in and week out... keep it close, play field position, win it in the 4th quarter. ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Problem I see in KC is an out-dated scheme plus a journeymen QB makes for a mid-tier product. If that's the goal, then fine. It will not bring a Super Bowl home though. All it does is waste a defense that is good enough to win championships, but are coupled with a QB/play caller combination that cannot win it all.

I don't understand the offense at all.  Way too much trust in Alex Smith.  That being said, the blocking has not been good. Ware did get red zone chances and couldn't pound it in.  No holes.  Not a premier rushing offense at this point.  Don't know what happened since the beginning of the year.

from Pro Football Focus:

The Chiefs will look back on this game and wonder why they weren’t able to get more going. They generated movement on the line and got themselves in good situations, but for one reason or another drives stalled and they didn’t capitalize when opportunities presented themselves. It’s a shame because the line — led by the excellent Mitchell Schwartz — did a good job, especially when it came to keeping Gerald McCoy quiet.

On my bench in all leagues until he does something. You dont light up tampa at home. Time to have a seat. 1 100 yard rushing game. 1 100 yard receiving game ....week1 no less. And 3 tds on the year??

Dont care how bad denver is against the run. Chalk him up for 65 rushing yards and 2 catches for 11 yards.....

Meh 95 total yards and two GL carries. He's fine. The entire offense isn't that great right now.
This pretty much says it all. When backers start mentioning things like this "in support of"... it is sliding off the table.

I heard he got 3 hard looks from Alex Smith too. Apologies if your league awards points for GL carries.

GL touches are pretty predictive of future TD's. shrug

The future is now! It is week 10, Ware has been the primary RB all year (less the concussion game)... Team just laid an egg at home... I don't expect a huge uptick in production.

He is the #22 rb since week 2 on a ppg basis. OOF. That's flex status soon. That week one game is looking like the fluke.
Correct. glad I got some offers rejected earlier this season in dynasty. Should be able to be had much cheaper now after a mediocre last 5-6 weeks.

He's 21 in mine.  If you exclude the game he got injured, he only goes to 19.  Woof.  I probably bought high in dynasty, but at least he's young and should continue to be the back next year (this is what I tell myself to feel better).  He is going to the bench until he blows up or matchups force me.

That is really the truth. It seems like in the NFL these days, if you don't run it in on 1st and goal, you absolutely know you have 2 or 3 passing plays coming.  If its 3rd and 3, there are about 3 coaches in the entire league who have the kahonas to run the ball. It is really a missing nicety of the NFL in today's game.

In other words, what we have said about the Jamaal Charles-led Chiefs about a dozen times in the past three years. This ALWAYS happens.  You see Jamaal Freaking Charles when he is at the top of his game end up with 7 carries a a catch sometimes and dopey old Andy saying "that's on me".  Yeah, Andy, that is on you.

Gone with the fullback position is the true goal-line run offense in the NFL.  :sadbanana:

Loved me some true smash-mouth football. The Titans are really the only team left in this regard.
